Gifts For The Self-Care Queen
I don’t think of myself as a self-care queen but I certainly aspire to be one. We all deserve the love and warmth that comes from taking good care of ourselves, especially during a busy time like the holiday season. Do you have a loved one that’s looking for a few new ways to take extra special care of themself?
Let’s start with some beautiful and cozy loungewear for a relaxing day. I’ve long been a fan of Lou & Grey, because their outfits are so soft, and wash well. My daughter fell for this Cozy Blue Top and these Plush Pants in Cafe Blue, the other day and has them on her wish list. They’re perfect for her to wear on a relaxing day around the house.
I’m lusting over these washable silk jammies from Everlane. I wouldn’t wear them all day unless I had to.
I love to burn candles at home. It’s relaxing and adds great ambiance. I’ve had my eye on these Pottery Barn flicker flameless candles for a few years. I love that they’re electric candles but have the real-life flame look. The best part is your self-care queen can set the candle’s timer so they turn on automatically, every night before she arrives home. What a welcoming way to brighten your home.
I really enjoy aromatherapy and recently my daughter introduced me to a brand from Vancouver called Saje. They make beautiful diffusers and a large variety of aromatherapy.
We popped into their store on my recent trip to visit her and loved checking out some of the new scents. I think a nice diffuser with an essential oil or two, is a lovely gift for the self-care queen in your life.

Wandering around the house is always better in a cozy pair of slippers. My daughter and I both love the UGG slip-on slippers. They’re soft and warm and the sole is thick enough for popping outside to let her dog out or pick up the mail.
I’ve owned a few Barefoot Dreams items over the years because they are so soft and luxurious. Vanessa bought this 
I’m also a fan of this cute and cozy leopard print blanket from Barefoot dreams, for a night cuddled on the couch with a good book.
Nothing beats an evening on the couch, wearing your soft, cozy pj’s, watching a show, or reading a book with a good face mask on! I’ve shared this Drunk Elephant Baby Sukari facial mask with you before. It’s an exfoliating mask that clears out pores and refines the texture of your skin. Drunk Elephant products are free of all nasty chemicals. Vanessa and I both use this weekly.

I love the real wax flameless candles! Mine are from Luminara; I will have to check out the ones from Pottery Barn. When we have company over, I use one as as a nightlight in the guest bathroom of our older home which has a shortage of electrical outlets. They look like real flickering candles until you are about 15 inches from them. My friend had a column-shaped real candle burning in a tall glass candle holder on a granite bathroom counter while she was hosting a party; I would have done the same. I happened to go into that bathroom and discovered that the glass candle holder had split in half, the candle had fallen over, and the flame was up against the bathroom wallpaper. The real wax flameless candles are perfect for rooms where you want a burning candle but can’t be there to watch over it.

I have a friend who has had great good fortune with her adopted kids responding well to weighted blankets. Not being a great sleeper I ordered one to be made and picked out perfect fabric etc. When I got it in the mail, it was too heavy for me and there was no way to “lighten it.” I recommend finding one you can test out before buying. I was unable to return mine because it was early on in the development of weighted blankets and it was custom made. Just know one size doesn’t fit all. I think it is still a worthwhile idea!!

While I love the idea of essential oils, I have read many tragic tales of animals getting very sick or even dying from some of them. Please take care to research first if you have cats, dogs, birds, etc., in your home.
Very good recommendation. And children are also more vulnerable, especially to artificial fragrances
