Today’s dressing room diaries is at Nordstrom. It’s hands down, my favorite store for many reasons. Their customer service can’t be beaten, their selection is huge and they always offer free shipping and free returns. That shipping and return policy removes any hesitancy I might have to order something I’m on the fence about. Trying things on at home is the ultimate luxury that lets me put things together in my wardrobe to see if an item is a smart buy for me.
Dressing room diaries is when I go into a store and try on the new selections so you can see how the clothes fit on a woman larger than a size 2 and older than 21. I found so many great pieces it was hard to not bring a bunch of it home with me.
I started with snake print jeans from Not Your Daughter’s Jeans. NYDJ always runs large, so order one size down. This pair is too large for me. They have a nice rise and great stretch. They are sized from petite 00-18, and regular 00 to 28.
The top is by Vince Camuto, I’m wearing a medium which is a roomy fit. The sleeves have a tiny poof at the cuff which is right on trend with all the bishop sleeves I’m seeing. It has black grommets around the neckline for a little bling that’s not over the top. The silky feeling fabric has a slightly rumpled effect which I like.
This is the same shirt in a small which is a bit snug across the chest on me so I would say it runs true to size. It comes in 6 colors size 00 to W14. These pants are a classic 5 pocket jean styling in super soft and stretchy, pinwale corduroy. They come in 10 colors sized petite 00 to 18, regular 00 to 18, and plus size 14 to 24. I am wearing an 8 which fits so they run true to size.
I added this denim Trucker jacket which has a removable, faux fur leopard color. It’s a roomier fit than standard denim jackets. The proportion is close to a chore jacket but not as long so a great option for shorter women who want a change of pace from standard, short denim jackets. One review said it was huge, but I disagree. It has a boxy cut and is meant to roomy. I’m wearing a medium which is perfect so it does run true to size.
This chambray shirt is a terrific classic in a nice weight. It’s a dead ringer for the more expensive chambray at J.Crew. It’s available from 00 through 18. I’m wearing a medium so it runs true to size. I love a great chambray shirt for year-round wear.
This cotton shirt is by Lucky Brand and available in 5 different colored plaids. It’s sized from xs-xl. I’m wearing a medium that fits well so it runs true to size. This vest is by Bobeau and really fun, Sadly, I can not find a link for you. I hate when that happens.
I touched this jacket as I walked past and fell head over heels. It is so soft and the prettiest dusty blue. It has oversized lapels and a short, boxy fit with a double-breasted snap closure. I’m wearing a medium which is too large for me so it runs a bit large.
This classic V-neck sweater is a great basic for the cooler months. It’s “teddy bear” texture is very popular and super cozy feeling. It’s available in 6 colors sized XXS-XXL. I’m wearing a small which fits. It’s meant to be oversized so I prefer the fit of the medium shown below in deep green.
I found way too many things I liked during this DRD which is both good and bad;) I am taking advantage of Nordstrom’s free shipping and returns to try several things at home in colors that were not at my store.

When I worked in Silicon Valley, most of my wardrobe came from Nordstrom. Now I live a heavily trafficked 1+ hour from my nearest Nordstrom and my income is much lower. Luckily they opened a Santa Rosa Nordstrom Rack right near my house and I find lots of treasures there.
Also, I can order Nordstrom sale items by mail and return them at the Rack. Their customer service is the best.

These are my kind of outfits! The closest Nordstrom’s is an 8 hour drive, but with their generous return policy I may try ordering some of the items. I really like the denim jacket (not sure if I need another one) and it’s great that the collar is detachable. The faux fur jacket is darling on you, but I might look like a plump teddy bear. I really look forward to your articles!

This morning after reading your post, I went to Nordstrom website and ordered the Vince Camuto blouse and the NYJ jeans. What a great look! We are snowbirds, leaving NJ for Florida this week, so no warm clothing needed. This outfit will be so cute going out in Florida.
