UncommonGoods: Unique and a Giveaway

What do you buy the man who hates to get gifts?

Something personalized!

My husband turns 65 next week. I find him virtually impossible to buy a gift for. If he wanted it, he would buy it.  So it has to be something he would never think to get himself. And, something he won’t return. He has a strange aversion to recieving gifts. Luckily, I have no such aversion.

Enter UncommonGoods!

Their goal is to provide a unique shopping experience for customers. And they do. They connect talented artists, making quality products, with the public.

Their selection of gifts is wide and varied. I say gifts, but I ordered two things for me… plus the give-away below!

I ordered my husband this birthday book.

UncommonGoods: Unique and a Giveaway

It has the front page from the New York Times for every year since his birth. It’s an absolute hoot to look back and see what was happening on his birthday! It’s a beautifully bound, high quality book, they personalized with his name and birthdate. I can’t wait to see his reaction!

UncommonGoods: Unique and a Giveaway

Being a New Yorker, I got him the New York Times version. But it’s also available with the Washington Post or Los Angeles TimesThey also make an Anniversary Book and a Sports Book.

Of course I perused the Beauty and Wellness section since I’m really into that right now. They have a lot of organic kits and products made by cottage industry artisans with exquisite attention to detail. This Aromatherapy Deluxe Gift set is amazing!! Love it!

UncommonGoods: Unique and a Giveaway

These adorable Watermelon Booties caught my attention in the kids section. Such cute detailing and a lot of work to make, for a great price!

UncommonGoods: Unique and a Giveaway They’re by Gulnara Kydyrmyshova from Kyrgyzstan. The amazing story of these booties and the people who make them is both heartwarming and inspiring.

There’s a fun and unique surprise on each page of their website. It’s great place for some distinctive gifts this holiday season. I already have several more things in my “shopping cart”.

I am giving away a Farm Fresh Spa Experience Tin for one of my readers to enjoy or give.

The most interesting thing I found was a drawing of the Golden Gate Bridge. This was quite awhile ago, it was for husband who still talks about that gift! It was the engineering drawing.

That New York Times birthday book is so great. My husband would love it, too. I don’t know if I should thank you or curse you for setting me loose on Uncommon Goods. I spent a good part of the afternoon lost on the website. I love the cribbage board with the lakes. They even had the obscure lake in Montana where my family spent our summers in the 1960’s. Such great stuff.

It is a history lesson. He’s sooo old! I guess that makes me almost as old. It’s fun to see what was going on back then.

Darling Jennifer, I’m taking myself out of the running for the free gift, since I’m a good friend. That said, however, I’m married to one of those “I have everything I need, and, if I don’t, I’ll get it, myself” kinda guys. So, I figure he already has me, so what more could he ask for (insert smiley face here).

Will definitely check out the sites you mentioned. The holidays are coming…..!!

Miss talking to you. We must do it very soon. I’ve had a crazy busy few weeks.

    Cheers, my Dear Friend,

    M-T

Happy birthday to your husband, Jen….I think this personalized book is a fantastic idea. I’m sure it will be a hit! I made a book of our wedding photos in black and white for my husband to celebrate our 15th anniversary. He loved it! Uncommon Goods is such a great resource for unusual, quality gifts. I always enjoy their catalog. Fun giveaway!!
