Dressing Room Diaries: Modern Classics
Happy Friday ladies. Thank you so much for your supportive comments on Wednesday. Knowing others are struggling with similar life-altering issues is comforting and reassuring. This community is special because of you, thank you!
Today’s dressing room diaries is from Talbots with lots of spring fabrics and colors. My local store was brimming with new things so I had lots to choose from.
I started with their classic white shirt and slim ankle jeans.
This classic white no iron shirt is a great basic which comes in 3 colors in petite, misses, woman and woman petite. I am wearing a 10 petite which fits me perfectly.Ā These jeans are a classic 5 pocket style in cool mint with stretch built in. I’m wearing an 8 petite (curvy version here) They’re also available in soft pink here, twilight blue, sage and white here, pale gray here, never fade black here, polka dot here, medium denim blue here, and dark wash here. They sit at the waist and are the perfect slim jeans.
On the left are the petite jeans and misses on the right. The misses has a slightly longer leg and a higher rise. Because I have a long torso, the petite version doesn’t quite reach my waist (trust me) but they do in misses so I preferĀ that fit for me. If they don’t shrink 1/2″ in the wash I’ll hem them under.
I tucked the white shirt into these high rise denim jeggings. I am wearing an 8Ā petite which is a bit long for me but does sit at the waist. I added this plaid belt which reverses to solid black.
This navy cotton and Tencel sweater has a silk scarf woven around the crew neckline. Talk about easy, peasy…the scarf is already on:) I am wearing a petite medium which fits perfectly.
This tri-colored striped tee is a cotton, polyester and spandex blend. It hits just below the hip and has buttonĀ detail at the side. I’m wearing a medium in misses which is too long for me. Notice the pale gray stripes are not centered on my waist. It comes in petite, regular, woman and womanĀ petites. Yellow is not my best color so I also tried it on in gray, mint and indigo.
This is a medium petite and the stripes are more centered on my torso and it’s slightly shorter.
This sweater is a great weight, slub knit and color for me but the neckline is anything but flattering on my broad shoulders. It may be hard to see but I pulled the front into a V to show how much more slimming it is on me with a v-neckline.
This sweater is a lightweight cotton blend and perfect for layering. It comes in 5 colors in misses, petite and woman. I am wearing a petite medium. These chinosĀ are a cotton/spandex blend, available in misses, petite and women in 5 colors, curvy fit here. I am wearing a 10 petite which runs true to size but a bit long for me so I would turn the hem under.
I topped this off with a navy knit blazerĀ for a classic, preppy look.
These steel grey skinny jeans are the same as I showed above in white. I have these from last winter and love how comfy they are. Gray is a great neutral which easily pairs with other colors. The black and white check of the belt works nicely with the grey jeans.
I couldn’t resist this pink modern trench coat. It has shoulder epaulets, storm front, and back yoke and welt pockets. It comes petite, misses and available in a gold ochre color. I’m wearing a petite medium which fits perfectly and clearly, I love it :).
Have you started looking at the spring clothes that are coming in?
Thanks for reading and have a great day.
I’m a petite too. Talbots is the only place I can find a pair of pants, sweater, shirt, or anything else that I can wear right off the rack with no alterations. Happy to find another smallish person who enjoys shopping there.
Thanks so much for all the explanations you provide in the Dressing Room Diaries; I find them very helpful! Love these spring looks — that pink trench is gorgeous on you š
The pink trench looks lovely on you. Perfect fit & colouring! The smile tells all. ????
Such a fun post and I’m glad you inserted your scarf video… very helpful. Might add I’m SO jealous you can shop with bare toes in January – boy am I living in the wrong locale!
It was particularly warm that day. Tonight itās pouring cats and dogs.
Can you provide a link to your shoes? They are REALLY attractive and look comfy besides.
Hi Nancy. These shoes are fabulously comfy. They can be found here https://rstyle.me/cz-n/dffcuv39zw
You look good in most clothing, but I have to say the pink trench coat and the striped shirt in yellow are my favorites with your coloring.
Thanks so much
That pink trench is the prettiest thing I’ve see all day! I don’t think I would get much wear out of it in my climate, though. We go from frigid to hot here. Not much of a spring.
Beauty!!! And may I say your hair is looking great!
????????
All very nice But your wrong the yellow was a win on you
I love your dressing room diaries and I love Talbots! A win/win! It is snowing here today and about 10 degrees. Anxiously awaiting the Spring!
Oh boy! Stay warm
I think the striped T-shirts with dark wash jeans would suit a pear-shaped figure.
Yes they would!
Jennifer, you must get the navy sweater with scarf. Looks fabulous on you!
I really love when you do Dressing Room Diaries from a Talbot’s store! I almost exclusively shop Talbot’s now because everything fits my 5’1″ frame without altering. It is so helpful to see the clothes on a real live person such as you. Thanks for sharing the sizes you have on also. Everything looks fabulous on you and I want each outfit!! I have several of the items you modeled on my wish list but I’m waiting for a good sale since I can’t wear these Spring fashions yet. It is still very cold here and will be for 6 more weeks at least.
Their petite line fits me better than other brands too. Stay warm Diane!
Spring is on it’s way. So nice top see more pastel colours now hitting the shops. I agree with you about a boat neck, besides making you look broader it also looks untidy. I love a top to fit nicely onto the shoulders. Have a lovely weekend. Regards – Jill x
You look fabulous in that pink trench!
You look so great in pink, Jennifer! And I love the mint green pants!
I too love the pink trench. We still have lots of snow and -30 degree windchill, so even if spring clothes are arriving in the stores, it’s hard to think we will ever get spring like weather LOL.
Wow Yvonne, thatās brutal. Stay warm and remember spring will arrive for you, eventually.
Hooray – here comes Spring! Loved every outfit and the colors made my heart sing. Thank you!
Love everything you tried on and agreed with you on the donegal sweater. Itās a shame they didnāt make it with the V neck!
I love the pink trench!
Also the black sweater with the built-in scarf. Such a discreet detail but it makes it dressy.
All the outfits are very cute, but those really stand out.
It was pretty. My lighting was poor so you couldnāt see the sweater was very deep indigo blue.
Lots of cute outfits today! I really like the sweater with the scarf included – nice shortcut! I love pink, so the trench coat is a winner!
The pink trench looks amazing on you.
I’m definitely checking out Talbots! I especially like the pretty coat and jeans.
Thank you for brightening up the wintry cold day with these pretty Spring colors and styles. Mmmmm.
I too look for V necks all the time! So many stores don’t carry tops in V, just crew or turtleneck…..searching, searching.
Please say that you got the pink Trench Coat! You look awesome in it!
I may need it!
