August J.Crew Factory Try-On
On my last trip south, I stopped in for a J.Crew Factory try-on and to check out the new arrivals. They still have lots of summer pieces, but were changing the floor displays to bring in fall collections. You can see my other try-ons here.
Most J.Crew Factory is available in regular, petite, and tall lengths in sizes 00-2X, so they are sized to fit most women. Bravo J.Crew Factory! I love to promote size-inclusive brands because we all deserve options to shop and look our best.
Several readers have asked me to share more lower-priced options, and J.Crew Factory certainly fits the bill. The quality is excellent on many of its pieces, although I find some of the knits can be disappointing. I try not to share those because I don’t think they’re worth buying. Occasionally, I’ll need one to complete an outfit in the dressing room, but when that happens, I’ll always point it out.
These Lizzie blue and white striped wide leg pants are great. The fabric is soft but has enough structure to hold their shape. They’re 98% cotton with 2% elastane, so they also have enough stretch to be comfy when you move and sit. This pair is blue and white striped, and they also come in 5 other solids.
Because it has a wider leg, I paired it with this cotton tank and tucked it in the front for a more streamlined look. This is pretty decent quality for the price. It also comes in 6 other colors, which I think look better than the white.
I topped it with this cotton tape yarn crew neck sweater in the prettiest shade of blue. I like its slim shape with the wider pants. The texture is open and airy, so you won’t overheat in it, plus it gives light coverage in heavy AC… if you just prefer to cover your arms. This comes in 4 pretty colors. The quality is great, but the open knit will snag if you’re not careful.
This cotton gauze shirt has quickly become a favorite since it came home with me. I’ve been buying and wearing these shirts for many years because the quality and fit is outstanding. I often tie mine at the waist to half-tuck, but it looks just as nice worn long. like with these everyday chino’s. They have a straight leg and come in regular, petite, or tall. The cotton has plenty of stretch, so they’re easy to move around in. They’re a great-quality classic everyday pant you will wear season after season.
I’ve almost never met a striped shirt I didn’t love, and this cotton poplin popover shirt in beige and white stripe is no exception. It’s nicely made with 98% regenagri®-certified cotton/2% elastane…which basically means 98% of the cotton in this shirt comes from farms verified to use farming methods that actively restore soil health, protect wildlife, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. All good things. It has a slim fit, so if you prefer an oversized look, I would size up. It also comes in 2 other colors.
These linen blend Remy pants are intended to be cropped, but I prefer my pants longer, so I’m wearing the classic fit. They’re a nice quality with a cropped wide leg and a classic trouser closure, which elevates the look. These sit right at the waist and come in 2 other colors.
This navy cotton tape yarn cardigan is as light as a feather and adds fun texture to your outfit. The V-neck is elongating and quite flattering. The quality is lovely, but you need to be careful not to snag it on your bracelets. It comes in 4 colors and is semi-see-through, so I styled it over this navy and white sweater tank top.
The tank sweater is lightweight and soft, in a cotton blend. I found the armholes very deep, so while it wouldn’t be great on its own, it works beautifully under a cardigan, blazer, or shirt worn open. I wore them with the everyday chinos, which I clearly love the fit and quality of.
MORE FINDS AT J.CREW FACTORY
This open stitch hoodie is one of my favorite types of summer sweaters. It’s cotton, but not thin and not too warm to wear. This also comes in white or red. What you wear under it could change the entire look. You could wear a coordinating color so it highlights the sweater, or you could wear a contrasting color that makes a statement showing through.
I like the way this striped tank shows through the open weave and adds some interest. It’s a decent quality tank and on final sale.
I styled them with these lightweight cropped wide leg jeans that feels more like chambray than denim. The fabric is a cotton/tencel blend, which makes them the perfect weight for hot days and gives them a nice drape. They come in this faded wash or a medium wash. The quality is the same, but they look nicer in the medium wash.
I’ve owned and loved this chambray shirt for so many years that I finally bought a second one for my condo in Vancouver. Not much to say except the quality is great, it’s very versatile, and you can’t beat the price.
I styled it with this striped ribbed tank that has a high neckline. It’s a classic summer layer, and the quality is pretty good. This armhole is higher than the cotton tank above, and it’s currently marked down.
These Remy wide leg crops are full length on me because I’m wearing a regular with a 26.5″ inseam. The petites are 24.5″ and the talls are 29.5″. They come in 3 neutrals and are a solid quality you could count on.

I mention quality in these try-ons because, with most clothing, we get what we pay for. J.Crew Factory is often an exception, offering well-made pieces at surprisingly reasonable prices.
