A Well Loved Edit for August
This month was a busy one, and I was on the road more than not. I do love travel, but I’m also a big homebody too so I hope to stay put for a week or two. Here are the things I loved and reached for most in August.
Am Lactin Intensive Healing 15% AHA Lotion. I love a luxurious body lotion that smells lovely and looks pretty sitting on my bedside table. But once I tried this (really affordable) lactic acid body lotion, the others have been languishing unused. This lotion has no pleasant smell, isn’t in an attractive bottle, but it fixes my dry, crepey skin better than anything I’ve ever tried. That’s not to say I won’t keep using my beautifully scented lotions, but this Am Lactin will be the workhorse in my arsenal.
Merit Clean Lash Lengthening Tubing Mascara. I’ve tried and own several clean mascaras. They’re all pretty good, but I keep going back to this Merit Lengthening one. I did try their newest Clean Volume Tubing mascara and really like it, but the lengthening one seems to build better to make my lashes look fuller. It makes no sense based on their product descriptions, but that’s what I’m finding.
Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner. I occasionally yield to the siren call of other lip liners, but I always go back to this one. It has several perfect colors for me, lasts most of the day. and helps keep my lipstick from wicking up the ever-lengthening lines around my lips. My favorites are Pillow Talk Fair, regular Pillow Talk, Supersize Me, and Crazy in Love, which I get here. I also have 90s Pink, but I don’t wear that as often. I’ve probably gone through 8 of the Supersize Me and 6 of the Pillow Talk Fair.
Aesop Resurrection Handcream. I always carry a tube of hand cream in my purse, and this month it’s been this one. In fact, I carry it every month that I buy a new tube. The scent is beautiful, and it’s very hydrating. Prices vary by place, but Amazon currently has it on sale.
Aesop Resurrection Hand Wash. One place I always appreciate a lovely fragrance is in my bathroom hand wash. I discovered this brand several years ago in Vancouver and fell head over heels for the scent and formula. I now buy the refills without the pump because they’re better for the planet and cheaper. I also just found this duo, which brings the price of both down quite a bit, plus it’s on sale…I’m ordering now.
Oak Essentials Moisture Rich Emulsion. I’ve only been using this for a few weeks, but it made the list. You know I love my U Beauty moisturizer, but this one is lighter, fragrance-free, and much less expensive. My rosacea-prone skin seems to prefer that. It has squalane and glycerin for hydration, but mostly I just know my skin feels really good when I use it. Hard to argue with that.
Frank & Eileen Triple Terry Fleece. They have a lot of standout fabrics, but my favorite by far is their triple terry. It’s lightweight enough to wear year-round, and they’re coming out with it in more great styles. This August I bought this jacket and these sweatpants, which I wore repeatedly on my trip to see the spirit bears. I promise to finish my 🐻 post, and yes, we did see one. A huge one.
Eadem Lip Softening Balm. I started using this in mid-August, and I really like it. I only wear lip balm at home because it makes my lipstick bleed…but I spend a lot of time at home. It has a slight tint, and honestly, I haven’t noticed it wicking up the lines, so maybe I’ll try it over a lip pencil.
Rag & Bone Miramar Jeans. I wear jeans more days than not. And because Vancouver isn’t blistering hot in the summer, I’ve been able to wear my Miramars a lot. I can very comfortably sit in a car or airplane for hours, so I do. They never bind around my tummy and have a relaxed vibe I love.
