Classic Spring Favorites To Mix and Match From Frank and Eileen

Frank & Eileen sponsor this post. Thank you for supporting the brands that work with AWSL.

Spring is right around the corner, and if you’re anything like me, you’re ready to refresh your look with easy, stylish pieces that can take you from running errands to brunch with friends and beyond. It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Frank & Eileen because their separates have a laid-back California vibe that’s perfect for my casual lifestyle while still looking polished and modern. Today, I’m sharing some classic favorites I’m mixing and matching this spring and wearing on repeat.

EILEEN RUFFLE COLLAR DENIM SHIRT size S c/o / DUBLIN TRIPLE FLEECE BLAZER size S / DERRY SIGNATURE JEANS size 29

Frank & Eileen is a woman-owned, Certified B-Corp, which makes me love the brand all the more! Their price tag can be surprising if you’re used to standard fast fashion, but every piece is made with ethical and sustainable considerations, often right here in the USA. Investing in one piece that works with half your wardrobe often ends up being more cost-effective than buying multiple cheaper items that become outdated or worn out within a season. Here’s how I’ve been mixing and matching my latest pieces.

CARMEL TRAVEL SET size S c/o

They call this triple fleece fabric the crown jewel of their knit collection, and I totally agree. It’s an incredibly soft, lightly combed 100% cotton knit that’s made in California and feels wonderful against the skin. Frank & Eileen makes several great travel sets using this fabric, but I particularly like this Carmel Travel set because it’s a combination of the Patrick Sweatshirt (a favorite) and the Catherine Sweatpants. Frank & Eileen labels their fleece sets for travel, but make no mistake, they’re perfect for day-to-day living.

Our lemon tree is overproducing this spring, so I’m freezing the juice in ice cube trays for later use.

The fabrics in the triple fleece sets are hand-dyed in small batches, and they cut both pieces from the same fabric production to ensure they match exactly. For this reason, I always wash the top and bottom of my sets together. The Carmel set comes in 5 colors this season, including a bright Pink Lemonade color that’s so cheery for spring.

After a day at home, we headed out for a casual dinner at the club, so I popped on their newest Eileen Ruffle collar denim shirt and draped the top from the Carmel Travel Set over my shoulders. I love how the fleece adds some extra warmth like a wrap and also zhuzhs up my outfit. I switched to real shoes:) because although California is very laid back, it still feels a bit cool in the evening for sandals.

EILEEN RUFFLE COLLAR DENIM SHIRT size S c/o / DUBLIN SWEATSHIRT BLAZER size S

A denim shirt is a classic in my wardrobe, so I have several and love that this one is a bit different. I’m not one for ruffles and frills, but the feminine ruffle detail on this Eileen shirt is the perfect size, and it doesn’t feel overly girly to me. The ruffle is subtle enough to just peep above the collar of my Dublin Sweatshirt Blazer. As with their other denim shirts, this is made from fine Egyptian cotton that’s woven in Italy and hand-finished in California.

MINI BELFAST CROPPED JACKET size S c/o / GALWAY WIDE LEG JEANS size 29 / EILEEN RUFFLE SHIRT c/o

Last week, I wore this Eileen ruffle denim shirt under the Mini Belfast Cropped Jacket, which is also in the cozy triple fleece. The jacket comes in 11 colors this season, plus a navy and white stripe that I could not resist buying last summer. The cropped length is a great proportion for us shorter gals and works so well with wider-leg pants, like my Galway Wide Leg Jeans. Because these jeans have a wider silhouette, I tucked the shirt in and bloused it over the waistband.

I’m wearing the Ruffle Eileen untucked over these Derry Signature slim-leg jeans. I’m a huge fan of the Derry Illusion Pull-On Pants, but these signature jeans include a zip fly with hook-and-bar closure that lays flat on the waist. They also have pockets, which I love! The fabric is a cotton blend with elastane that’s woven in Italy and made in California. They feel as comfy as your favorite leggings but look much more stylish.

Layering is a big part of the Frank & Eileen esthetic. I love that the untucked denim shirt covers my backside in these slim-straight jeans 😉.

Frank & Eileen are introducing a fresh palette for spring that showcases soft pastel hues alongside vibrant, energizing pops of color that are perfect for brightening any wardrobe with effortless style.

Frank & Eileen’s pieces are crafted with classic, enduring designs that outlast trends. They stand out for their premium fabrics, effortless silhouettes, and ethical sourcing. When you invest in one of their garments, you’re getting timeless style, impeccable craftsmanship, and closet staples you’ll reach for year after year without feeling out of style.

  1. My daughter told me the same. So, I try to wear more colour in my tops, concentrating on blues and light greens. They really do light up your face and make your eye colour pop. Such smart daughters, Jennifer.

    1. I agree Joanna, daughters are the best 😍

First Lie Wins is not scary at all, but I couldn’t put it down. Loved It!

    1. Good to know! I just cracked it

  3. Enjoyed reading this morning’s post! Frank and Eileen is a fav brand and I had been checking out the ruffled denim shirt….it is a winner!
Frank and Eileen also host a “Reloved” site. Impressed that F & E continue to support their slow fashion philosophy and provide a mechanism for their customers to resell. I was excited to find as I had a number of items that were too large.
Question re jeans: do you find they fit true to size? Or does size vary based on style?
    Thank you
    Dianne

    1. I love that about F&E them too! They mean it when they say, slow fashion. Much like Eileen Fisher does, except F&E employs Californians in their manufacturing. I think the jeans all run a tad small. The Derry Illusion Pull On fits more like a legging so you can wear those a bit snugger. I always cover the top of those 😉

  4. I just ordered my first piece of F&E today. I know it’s pricey but the shirt was so cute. I’ve been wanting to try this brand as so many of their items look like things I would wear and love. I hope my shirt fits. I’m trusting that they have a good return policy if I need to exchange for a different size.

    1. Their return policy is excellent. I hope you love it too!

I really enjoyed that book and didn’t find it scary at all. I thought it was unique and sexy!

  6. Frank and Eileen is a fun brand. I like the little note and tea bag they send with their orders.
I don’t purchase a lot from F&E because of the price point, but I do like their jeans, the Eileen fit shirt and the jersey popover top (think it’s the Patrick.) These items have been on repeat all winter.
Interestingly, the only item I purchased from them that I didn’t like was the travel set. I found the triple fleece far too stiff and not that comfortable. It’s also far too bulky for travel. Even an airplane outfit is packed at some point.

    1. I had a red and white jersey popover that I loved until I spilled on it and sadly can’t get the stain out. I hope they remake that stripe because it’s the only red I liked to wear:)

  7. The triple fleece really is unique. I picked up a travel set during the Nordstrom sale. More than once I traveled in it (both long car ride and plane) , got to my destination and headed right out to dinner or shopping without changing. For a cold winter trip I layered a base layer top and leggings underneath and was perfectly warm. Just wish the pants had pockets. Also wish they made petites because some items are overwhelming on my frame.

    1. I agree about pockets which is why I love my very first one which has a Belfast jacket with pants. So perfect.

I enjoyed your post on color this week. It gave me a lot of food for thought, especially now that I no longer color my hair and it is silver/white. Thank you so much!
I look forward to your post every morning.

  9. all outfits look great but think…..red glasses would look wonderful with them! pop of color!

    1. Lol, I sort of agree
