Weekend Reading 01.10.2026
Happy weekend, ladies. We’ve finally gotten a cold snap with clear skies, so my husband and I are planning a short road trip for one day this weekend. I’d love to drive up to the snow, but I’m not sure the roads are clear enough, so our destination is still up in the air.

This week was a short one on the blog, thanks to the annual parade of doctor appointments, plus a few specialty visits that turned out to be fascinating… more on those another time.
I’m still waiting for the foot doctor next week, and that’s the one I’m counting down to. I’m worn out from dealing with constant pain.
Reader Favorites…What You Loved This Week:
- This stretchy soft denim jacket was a huge bestseller this week, and the price is amazing!
- This Handmade Spring Tea Leaf front door wreath was also very popular this week. I finally decided to order it myself. I like simple wreaths without too many doodads.
- These Daria 90s straight leg jeans were very popular this week. I love mine and wear them often. I also love supporting small, women-owned businesses.
- This Baby Cheeks blush stick is on its way to many readers this week. I love the Dou Dou and Coquette shades. This gorgeous, clean beauty is a splurge, but very lovely.
- This feather-free insulated bomber coat, which I have in soft green, and reach for often. The weight is perfect for our mildish climate, and it keeps my backside warm. I’ll try to take a photo for you. I really need to get back to grabbing daily outfit pictures.
Weekend Sales Worth Checking Out:
J.JILL has 30% off sweaters, tops, and jeans. Here’s what caught my eye:
- This mock-neck cable sweater was a favorite during my last try-on. The navy is fabulous, and I’m also intrigued by the sweetgrass green.
- These relaxed boyfriend jeans have been a spring staple in my wardrobe for several years.
- These boyfriend jeans also come in a soft barley wash.
- I love the look of this waffle knit button-down. The fabric is cozy for now, and the cotton will make it perfect going into spring.
CHICO’S has 25% off all new styles, 25% off jewelry, and up to 70% off all markdowns. These caught my eye:
- This poplin tie front white shirt is perfect!! No need for me to manually tie it 🙂
- This navy faux leather jacket has my name all over it. When I read the reviews and saw how fast it was selling out, I ordered it. This falls under the category of if you snooze, you lose. I lost out on an EF coat by hesitating earlier this year, and it still irks me 🙂
- This modern-looking polka dot collar necklace would look fabulous over a simple white tee with jeans. It’s handmade with genuine white jade and grey agate. It’s sold out in every store near me, so it’s going fast.
TALBOTS has 60% off with their bundle-up sale on coats, sweaters, and more, plus free shipping over $125. Here’s what stood out:
- This stunning blue belted wool coat… it’s classic, simple, and oh-so-elegant.
- This double-faced red wool coat is a show stopper…it makes me wish I wore red.
- These soft gray suede kitten heel booties are so pretty.
- This tipped cardigan was a reader favorite at my latest Talbots try-on.
WAYFAIR is up to 70% off during their 4-day flash sale, so I’m shopping to freshen up my home. Here’s what is on my radar:
- This shoe storage cabinet would be fabulous for our mud room because we take our shoes off when we enter the house. The racks we have now look sloppy and messy. As I kept looking, I decided this cabinet was the best size for our space, so I ordered it. I just love anything that helps with organization.

Have a great weekend, and be sure you wear what both delights you and makes you feel confident.

I will be anxious to hear what the doctor advises about your toe and foot. I have the same thing and have had numerous injections, never wanting the surgery. The injections no longer work for me. I do rub on Vitality balm every morning and that helps for a while with all the essential oils. Good luck!
Jane
I haven’t heard of Vitality balm. Which essential oils do you use?
Hi Jennifer,I am so sorry you are having foot problems,I hope you get some answers and are able to get some relief. I especially enjoyed your column on hobbies! Thanks for all you do!
Thanks Denise. I’m glad you enjoyed the hobbies post. There are so many interesting things we do.
I immediately clicked on the you snooze you lose jacket! Ha, already have it hanging in my closet. I love it and hope you do too! I have lost out a few times with the “it is going to come on sale” mentality which most of the time is fine but once in a while you end up regretting. My advice to others is if it really fills a hole in your wardrobe just pay full price but if it’s a nice addition then play the waiting game.
Good luck with your feet, foot pain is absolutely no fun and can be limiting in ways you never thought possible.
lol! You’re exactly right! About nice to have vs filling a hole.
Bon weekend! I’m working on styling the Birk clogs (because I’ve already been to the foot dr who told me there’s not much he can do for my foot pain). I’m finding I like them best with longer pants/jeans/sweats in a relaxed straight, boot or wide leg. Long enough so the back of the pants doesn’t get caught under your heel! A cute sock peeking out is fun. I have some wool nordic ones because my Birks aren’t lined. (I switch to Uggs for that!) Still debating whether I will wear them to the office now that we are going back but I think yes, at least sometimes. Under longer pants they really don’t show. And they help my foot comfort so much!
Happy Weekend Shari! I’m in total agreement about the longer, wider pants. Mine are either too short or too long and catch under the heel. I just got a pair of flowy athletic pants that I’m hoping will work. Footwear seems to be determining my outfits more and more these days. Comfort is coming first for me. Have a great weekend!
Can you help; I definitely want that Lands End Coat. I read it runs big? I’m usually size 6-8 but am always cold so I want room for sweaters underneath. So is a medium my best choice? Thank you.
I’m an 8-10 and bought a small. It’s very light so you could easily go up a size. My recommendation is to order both sizes and return the one that doesn’t fit the way you want.
My lightweight puffer coat runs large. I should have bought the medium. But I kept it and love it even though it is a little too big. I agree order both sizes and try on with your favorite sweater and send back the one that is too large. It is hard for me to send back things so I tend to gamble and just keep things.
