J.Jill Spring Try-On 2026: New Arrivals Worth Seeing
Before we left on our travels, I stopped in J.Jill to try on a few new spring arrivals for you. Some visits are more hopeful than successful, but this one had a few easy pieces that were actually worth a second look.

This striped top should have come home with me. It’s a classic polo with elbow-length sleeves in a muted navy and cream. The fit is a relaxed A-line which does not cling, and it has set-in sleeves! I always appreciate a set-in sleeve because the fit is nicer than that of the (cheaper-to-produce) dropped sleeves. It also comes in solid blue or cream.
I paired it with these Pure Jill wide-leg linen pants. The website says they have added trim on the leg, but it’s actually a narrow row of tiny cutouts. They have on-seam pockets and are a blend of linen and Lyocel, which makes them extra soft and breathable. I’m wearing the light flax color, and they’re also available in black. This is a medium petite with a 28.5″ inseam, and they also come in regular and tall.

This popover shirtdress spoke to me from the front window display. It’s a cotton/modal blend they describe as poplin, but it looks and feels more like chambray to me. It has a breezy side slit and 3/4 sleeves. I tied this compassion fund scarf at the waist and liked the change of proportion, so I think it would look nice belted. The soft colors of this scarf coordinate beautifully with the pale blue dress.

These authentic fit slim jeans have been a J. Jill bestseller for over a decade. They have a slim, not skinny fit, and are ankle length, so they work with all shoes and sandals. They also come in denim or black, and each is a blend of fibers, all predominantly cotton with spandex for stretch. This 10 petite has a 29″ inseam.
The shirt collar and crisp fabric keep this wrap shirt from looking like a flowy blouse. The side-tie gives you a little shape at the waist without feeling cinched. The back has an elasticized waist, which also helps. One thing to know: there’s no stretch in the fabric, so if you’re fuller through the shoulders, go up a size and wrap the open side snugly as I did. I love the 3/4 sleeves and pretty blue & white stripes. It also does something clever in front…the faux wrap bypasses the tummy entirely, and the diagonal line visually slims it.

This easy, 100% linen shirt is a popular basic at J. Jill every summer. This year, it’s been updated in a more relaxed silhouette with a shirttail hem and single patch pocket. It comes in 4 solids and one stripe. You can easily wear it long over shorts or slim pants. Here I’m showing it tucked and tied at the waist.
This cotton maxi skirt is more like a midi length to me. If I wore the regular length, it would be 3″ longer and closer to a maxi. It’s a fun, easy shape to wear in hot weather, in navy-and-cream, woven cotton. It has a flat front and is elasticized in the back, which I prefer to cover…hence the shirt tied over the waistband.
More finds for spring
J. Jill does relaxed, easy pieces well, and my recent store visit confirmed that. When I got home and went online, I spotted a few more things that hadn’t made it to my store yet. Here’s what caught my eye.
This Wearever Non-Iron Popover has a clean, simple shape that will work with everything in your closet. The non-iron fabric makes it very practical if you travel or just don’t feel like dealing with wrinkles. It also comes in white!
This Wearever Cap-Sleeve A-Line Dress caught my eye because the A-line shape gives you room without swamping you, and the pleated cap sleeves add a little detail at the shoulder, so it doesn’t read as a basic shift. The V-neck opens it up. Throw on a sandal, and you’re done.
This Solstice Midi Dress looks incredibly similar to the Eileen Fisher dress I love so much…but it’s much more affordable. It comes in this pretty blue or black. The pleating makes it perfect for travel, and it dresses up or down easily.
I’m a big fan of J.Jill’s linen dresses. This linen maxi dress has seams and front and back yokes that give it some shape without being fitted, so it moves well and doesn’t cling. It’s 100% linen, which means it breathes, and it has side pockets and a functional placket at the neckline. This is a gorgeous dress, but again, it’s a midi, not maxi length.
This chunky cotton sweater has gorgeous, all-over texture…but I wouldn’t label this “lace”. I love the flattering raglan sleeves and think this would be a great summer staple.
More Finds from the New April J.Jill Collection
There were a few pieces here I’d seriously consider, which is always the real test. I’m most drawn to easy dresses, breathable linen, and separates that can work with what’s already in my wardrobe, instead of requiring a whole new plan. Tell me which one you’d be most likely to wear.

The linen pink shirt dress is beautiful! Too bad J.Jill’s stores aren’t in Canada. I’d be shopping there all the time.
The Wearever striped polo came home with me. It was a no brainer. Two others did too. One was a linen navy print shirt with elastic cuffs. The other was a loose weave beige cardigan. Those were a little different for me.
I got the linen dress in dragon fruit pink and it’s gorgeous! I’m 5′ 5.5″ tall and the regular length dress is 5.75″ from the floor. It looks great with my silver Naot Dorith sandals. I may go try on that light pink gauze jacket today!
I love the blue and white striped wrap top! It looks totally different on you than on the J Jill model. If I just saw it on the model, I would never even consider buying it but, after seeing it on you, now I feel I could really use this top in my summer wardrobe!
Nice pieces! You are petite I see & I am too. J jill is one of my stores too since Loft, Talbots and J Jill are very close together in our little shopping area…..right next to each and one across the street. I usually have good luck with their jeans. I love the striped crossover wrap top with the slim fit jeans. Just my style! Off to check out your links!
Thanks for the try on! I’m a fan of JJill and I absolutely love that they offer tall and petite sizes for many of their dresses. Its a tall woman issue, but there are so many cute shift dresses that are knee length standing and way too short sitting. I just wish JJill came out with more dresses!
Smart move! I often do that for pant length.
Thanks for the try-on. I purchased the blue & white wearever striped dress. Its an easy toss-on dress that hangs well, doesn’t cling and fits perfectly in my usual PS size. It hits just above the knee. It looks particularly sharp worn with a white jean jacket.
That sounds great together.
Good morning Jennifer!
Thank you for such wonderful ideas. I’ve poured over J Jill online and somehow missed these goodies. We head off to England and France in a few weeks and am looking for easy to wear dresses. I’m racing off to the gym and a mid morning doctor’s appointment but will order the dress and side wrap stripe top when I get back home! Thank you again! I’ll think of you when I wear them!
Have a wonderful trip Sandy.
