In The Pink

Happy Monday ladies! I loved reading your comments on personal color analysis yesterday. It’s fun to know that so many of us have had similar experiences with color.

With Valentine’s and Galentine’s Day right around the corner, the stores are filled with pretty pink sweaters, red everything and heart prints galore. I look overpowered by red and pink can get too sweet and girly so I tread carefully to find my comfort zone.

A few of my blog girlfriends, Jo-Lynne, Deborah, and Tania all write about fashion for women over 40 so we thought it would be fun to each share a Galentine’s Day outfit inspiration. Galentine’s Day is all about women celebrating women and these gals are fabulous! I’m always inspired to see how other women dress so I hope you enjoy it.

I chose simple with a touch of pink. The surplice top is a paler shade of my skin tone with tiny flecks of black. I love the V-neckline which flatters most body shapes. The wrap is tacked closed to prevent gaping, very smart. The smocked cuffs and waistband create a tiny ruffle edge which is as girly as I get.

I had a paler pink lipstick on but looked washed out so I switched to this deeper shade. This is not a fancy makeup brand but they’re cruelty-free, made in the USA, have gorgeous colors and are free of nasty chemicals.

I love black with all shades of pink so I chose these slim crepe pants that I wear week in and week out. Since I’m moving my wardrobe further from the black hole that it is, I just ordered these in the navy. Navy will be an easy alternative to black as I refocus my colors.

The day was mild #californialiving, so I opted forover 40 galentine's outfit inspiration

Now let’s go see and read Jo-Lynne here, Deborah here, and Tania here .

Thanks for reading ladies and remember to wear what makes you feel confident.

  1. I just realized that you have done a very clever thing by matching your purse to your pants. If the purse falls at hip level, contrasting colors would make the hips appear wider. I almost always wear dark pants and carry dark purses, so I guess I’ve been doing this subconsciously? Pear-shaped strategies.

    1. If the purse varies in color either lighter or darker, it will draw the eye and make hips appear wider. Good for you!

  2. You look fabulous in that outfit and the lipstick colour is so flattering. Also loving your hair this length!

    1. Thanks Yvonne. I was just wondering if hair had gotten too long. I suppose I better leave it for a while to see if I can get used to it. šŸ™‚

  3. Your colouring is similar to mine, so I get lots of inspiration outfits from your blog. You look great in that outfit and the lipstick is beautiful. Your hair is looking absolutely beautiful lately.

  4. Perfect look for you….love, love, love your top!

  5. Beautiful! Speaking of lipstick…just lately when I wear lipstick the skin around my mouth gets very chapped and red. Can you recommend a brand for sensitive skin, please. I have excema and my dermatologist is treating it with a product.
    So enjoy your blog!

    Thank you!

    1. I have excema on my forehead and know how awful it is. I don’t have to around my mouth but I would try a natural lipstick that is free from chemicals and see if it’s helpful.

  6. Love the outfit on you. Your hair looks great a little longer.
