Easy Does It

Spending so much time indoors has me sliding my pants with zippers, further down the rod and reaching for leggings. To be honest, I’m spending more time eating and sitting these days so leggings are just comfier.

One of my favorite pairs is these sculpt pull-on jeggings in dark denim. They look just regular 5 pocket jeans, minus the zipper, stiff waistband, and button which makes them super comfy. In fact, I’m reaching for them so often, I just ordered them in this lighter wash for spring. FYI, spring has not been canceled:) I’m actually doing a fair amount of shopping to fill in my spring wardrobe because most brands are having huge sales and offering free shipping:)

Poplin Pullover

Along with the lighter wash jeans I ordered this poplin pullover. The fresh blue and white stripe will be great with blue jeans now, and white jeans in the summer. Its crisp fabric will also feel fabulous when the weather warms up. I also love that it simply slips over my head and has no buttons. Pull-on clothes are such an easy way to get dressed and when life is tough, they’re just plain smart.

Here are 4 spring outfits with these pull-on jeans. Each one has a pull-on top and slip-on shoes. How easy is that? I added some lightweight straw earrings to remind us that spring really is here.

Comfy outfits with leggings and pull on tops and slip on shoes

These outfits are easy peasy to wear now and will take you out and about in style very soon. They’re casual, comfy and perfect for social distancing.

Have you noticed all the tie-dye garments online? They are everywhere, and I mean everywhere. I never thought I’d even consider wearing them again, but this tunic has me tempted. Would you wear a tie-dye?

Please share what you’re reaching for to wear these days. We could all use some fresh inspiration.

Thanks for reading and remember to wear what makes you feel confident.

  1. Though a good portion of our snow is gone, in the area I’m in we are still in winter wear. Sad face …. šŸ™ Can hardly wait until the sun at least shines and it warms up! As in my 70’s and due to restrictions (because of this virus) am beginning to experience cabin fever already and do admit yesterday was the first time I applied any makeup in two weeks as one of my daughters made a ‘porch drop’ so wanted to look my best. (She is in policing whereas the other is in the medical profession so are on the front lines plus my son has been in self-isolation since Mar. 10th (at his country residence) as was showing mild symptoms of the virus upon his return from Peru that escalated in following days, but are now thankfully subsiding.)

As to the tie-dye garments, ah ‘the good old hippie days’ proving ” what is old is new again”. Now if it were only true and as easy for us Boomers …. lol!

Before closing, just want to thank you Jennifer for all your dedication that gives enjoyment to your readers like myself. -Brenda-

    P.S.: Loved the ‘dignity post’.

    1. Your children are the heroā€™s here, helping to keep us all safe. Be well and be sure to do something nice for yourself.

  2. I have a top that is the dupe of that one, Jennifer. You will want to wear it every day. Enjoy!

  3. I’m a tank top, light shirt and drawstring or elastic waist, around the house person but I wear regular jeans with zippers when I go out. What changes is the pants and shoes for shopping. Loafers or lace ups replace my easy slides for around the house. What doesnt change is the tank and light shirt. It is hot here a,ready. I have all ceiling fans going
, we have one in every room. All doors and windows open. Basically summer has arrived for us here on the Coast.
This post is perfect for dressing me today.

    1. Wow, lucky you. This time of year can be pretty dreary for most of us.

I really like the tie-dye you linked to at Talbots. Elevated from some of the stuff we all used to do at home.

  5. I really benefit from maintaining some type of daily routine. Maybe it makes things seem somewhat ā€œnormalā€ in my home? So, that means shower, clean clothes, hair, makeup and then plans for meals and other activities for the day.
I really like the tie dye shirts and need to do some shopping šŸ› (online for now). It might be a fun addition for this summer.
Thankyou for the fun daily posts Jennifer. I feel like I leave my house for a few minutes everyday when I read your blog. Itā€™s a great escape!!
    Stay well ladies …

Still wearing pants with zippers. I have video conferences everyday so I get dressed business casual. Today I had to get up and turn a light off behind me because it was making me into a silhouette, was I ever glad that I had real pants on! Also reminds me not to make too many trips to the snack bar (kitchen). Tie Dye, oh ya! Although I might not do rainbow tie dye… hmmm maybe just one T shirt!

  7. I’m happy to see tie dye back. It reminds me of my carefree youth! (Remember when we used to leave the house?)

  8. How funny! My 1st thought was, no way am I going back to tie-dye! Then I clicked on the link to the tie-dye tunic just to see what it was like. Guess what Iā€™m wearing today? A very similar style to the one you have in your link, only mine is gray and a soft shade of purple. I hadnā€™t thought of it as tie-dyed! šŸ˜† I bought it last winter at Christopher&Banks.

  9. The tie dye I’m seeing is mostly, Shibori, a Japanese style using indigo. It’s beautiful….. I was supposed to be taking a class in Shibori at a local art institution in May… we’ll see.
In the meantime just looking at these fabulous outfits makes me feel perkier. Thank you.

Thanks Jennifer, for being ā€œupbeatā€ and posting such pretty Spring fashions! Always look for your post and try to read more than once daily. Stay safe and well, and best wishes to All!

I don’t typically wear tie-dye garments though I did enjoy making lots of shirts with my son during his junior and high school years during their resurgence in popularity with his generation (2008 – 13). I do have one sundress/beach cover-up in that same navy and white combination as the shirt you’re considering, and love wearing it when on vacation in Mexico.

  12. I saved one wax resist dress from the 60ā€™s that I made . It has a musicians face on it, and itā€™s lavender. I was not attracted to really bright clashing colors, then ,or now, and I went to a lot of concerts. My favorite from that time was a lace tablecloth dress I made. Itā€™s nice to see the pastel colors of spring.

  13. Beautiful outfits. Those leggings look fabulous — but unfortunately, don’t come in my plus size. Any suggestions for plus size leggings from anyone out there? I’m 65, have never worn them. I’m a jeans gal, but getting tire of wearing them everyday. Now’s a good time to try something new.

    1. Talbots does carry leggings up to size 22 so you might start there. They’re so comfy, I think you’ll be ha[y

  14. Loving the outfit suggestions and the colours! I’m craving more colour in my wardrobe now – I guess a reaction to all this gloom. Thanks for posting this.

    1. I know mine is a reaction to the gloomy times. Color lifts my mood

  15. I, too, am pushing my zippered pants to the side & going for pull-on leggings & knit pants. I still like to shower, put on a little sunscreen & blush everyday. It just makes me feel good. I love the simplicity & splashes of color of the outfits youā€™ve put together.
My yoga studio has offered streaming classes online, so I took my first one yesterday. I did the poses in my LR, able to look out the big front window. Finally Iā€™m getting some calm back.
Thank for continuing your blog. I really love your style…

    1. Iā€™m exploring yoga classes online too. Itā€™s great.

  16. My favorite dress is Jersey tie dyed in pink navy and lilac with pockets. I bought it at the local Merle Norman studio which usually has a well edited collection so you won’t see yourself coming and going!I was fortunate enough to shop at a Soft Surrounding store on vacation 2 years ago. I found one maxi dress on Poshmark I remembered seeing! For a fraction of the price!

    1. Those colors sound so pretty. Iā€™m surprised to find myself liking it:)

  17. I love that youā€™ve coordinated accessories and shoes with these outfits!! Thanks it helps a lot!

  18. Holly Beaver says:

I wore these pull on Jeggings all winter and love them; I especially like them as they come in petite. The material seems a little heavy for warm weather though. Iā€™m waiting for Talbots to offer a sale on full price items.

    1. They are on sale today!Everything is on sale with free shipping. Thatā€™s why Iā€™m shopping:)

  19. I love tie-dye! Probably goes back to the fun I had as a teen in the 60s and 70s with my mother helping me to tie-die a t-shirt. The one you linked is very cute. I got a blue tie-dye turtleneck from Nordstrom which looks great with skinny jeans ā€” too warm to wear here now in Florida.
No pull-on pants for me. Yesterday, I put on a dress, earrings, and sun hat for a walk around the neighborhood. However, only sunscreen and no makeup during these isolation days. Getting dressed up a little helps my spirits. Thanks for your regular postings ā€” they help my spirits also.

  20. I am thinking of going back to pants with zippers to let me know when it is time to slow down with the eating. I think the comfort eating is getting out of control at our house so will have to get creative. The freezer is stocked with far too much comfort items. Bread is easy to grab. Not so much for tie dye but that tunic with the flowers over the top and yellow bottom is gorgeous. Even to wear at home for now. Thanks for continuing to cheer us up.

  21. Love the styles and colors in the post today. I am dreaming of when I can order – later. For now, my concern is… if something doesnā€™t fit, canā€™t go to post, UPS or visit store. Also, making folks work fulfilling non essential orders.
But, I do look forward to your posts so I can think about the future. You do such a great job of keeping our spirits up!

    1. I brought up the warehouse workers a few days ago and I see they are now getting sick all around the country. These poor people make $15 hour and put themselves, their families and who knows how many people at risk. I will shop my closets, my storage bins, my drawers…. Sorry to be a downer here.

  22. I find it harder to dress well when I know Iā€™m not going anywhere but a few days ago I did start putting on jewelry with my comfy pants and sweater. Iā€™m going through my dresser and closet and pulling out things I havenā€™t worn or worn little before it gets too warm here in MN. I am fortunate to be able to continue my barre classes online, so I always put on leggings and sticky socks to work out. Trying to keep whatever routines I had!

  23. For some reason, I have always been drawn to tie dye. I donā€™t actually have anything in my closet at this time, but that might change. Have you ever had a dressing room diaries post for Soft Surroundings? I get so excited when their catalogs arrive in the mail, but hesitate to order because I am unsure of sizing. There is no brick and mortar store anywhere near me so I have never been able to actually try their clothing on. I love wearing jeggings and tunics.

    1. Iā€™ve only done one DRD from there because we donā€™t have one near us either. I do find their sizing quite accurate.

  24. Joyce Reardon says:

Iā€™m still away for the winter in Florida, so itā€™s warm.
I do enjoy all of those outfits! Thanks Jennifer!

  25. Unlike your readers (and yourself) who are a more disciplined crowd, I stay up until after midnight and don’t stagger out of bed until 10am every morning and as it is still warm here, throw on a simple dress. No jewellery, makeup – in fact you could probably say I have ‘gone to the dogs’, which probably is not the fresh inspiration you are looking for. Having said that , I thoroughly enjoy your website, your fashion and style ideas which I find to be inspirational.

    1. Susan, you made me laugh out loudā€”thanks! šŸ˜Š

    2. Susan, you are my spirit animal šŸ˜Š Like you I stay up late & sleep late. I dress comfy at home and never wear jewelry or makeup around the house. The exception for makeup would be if I went out earlier in the day.

    3. What matters is that youā€™re enjoying yourself and dressing to please yourself, Susan. Thanks for being here.
