Would You Wear It: Blazer and Hearts

Would You Wear It: Blazer and Hearts

Happy Saturday ladies. We’ve headed for Palm Springs in search of sunnier weather. Since Punxsutawney Phil decided we’re in for an early spring, we decided to hop down to the desert and get a jump on the warm weather.

It’s time for would you wear it. Each week my friend Pam and I share a mannequin we’ve seen and ask if our readers would wear what’s she’s wearing. We do this to foster conversation and better understand your style goals. I also love to hear how you would style all or part of this outfit to make it work for your body, coloring, and lifestyle.

Here’s a close up of jacket and shirt.

Please keep your comments personal because you can be sure, the outfit you hate, another woman will love:)

So tell me, would you wear this or not?

How would you make it work for you?

I love the colours and the way the shirt dots relate to the blazer. For me, I’d need to connect the bottom to the top a bit more – maybe shoes that pick up on the red of the dark background.

    Yes, like all three pieces.

Love it – would definitely wear it! Classy and casual – could wear almost any wear. Perhaps change the jeans to black for a more formal look.

I like the outfit,, but would prefer a darker wash jean. While the color of the blazer is nice, it wouldn’t get as much rotation in my wardrobe as a more neutral color. But I’d still probably buy it…

I love this outfit and would wear it but not in this red colour. Hearts are my signature pattern. I’m always drawn to heart shapes and have a lovely shirt similar to this (which I get lots of compliments on). Love the blazer but this colour is wrong for me. I need more blue in it for my cool colouring. I really like these jeans too. Lots of thumbs up from me but with some tweaks for my colouring.

I would wear this outfit. The blazer dresses up the jeans and the red adds some Valentine’s Day flair.

Oh yes! I am thinking I would love a red blazer this year.
The shade of red is great.
    The blouse is ok.
    No to the jeans.

I love red so I definitely would wear the blazer:) The jeans are just so so. I would not wear the blouse because I don’t like hearts on clothes.

Love it but I would tie the blouse at the waist instead of tuck. I’d lengthen the pants but since I’m short , prob be about right length I like anyway. Add black boots, and I’m ready for anything. Some days I would exchange the jacket for a warm epred mohair cardigan I have. It’s all good.

I would wear the jacket & the blouse, but I would tuck the blouse in all the way or leave it out all the way. I am not a fan of the half tucked look. It looks unfinished to me. The jeans would need to be a darker wash, but I do like the high rise.

    Of the jeans though.

I love this look and would possibly even buy it, then the jacket would hang in the closet unworn. The reasons are many. It is very RED. I love red but not in such a big block as in a jacket. I am fair in colouring and I think it would just wash me out it is so bright. As I age I still wear colour but less intense in hue. The Jean’s and shirt I would wear to rags.

I love red! ♥️ I would wear this blazer in a heart beat. The shirt with the tiny hearts is cute and perfect for Valentine’s Day. I often cuff my jacket sleeves to show off a little bit more of the shirt. I wear jeans most of the time, and I like the high waist and cropped length, but not the wash. I prefer a dark wash. This outfit would be fun with runners or oxfords for running around town. Or, I would pair up the blazer & shirt with black dress pants and booties for lunch out.

    Love this outfit!!

Mostly what I like is that I can visualize this on younger and older women!! It’s classic.

Of course, I’d have to try it on to see if the red blazer would be a good look for me. I don’t wear many bright colors, but this is such an appealing look!

At any rate, if a red blazer doesn’t work, I’m sure it can be tailored to any color palette!
This is really a great look!

My personal style uniform is a variation on this theme: dark, high-rise full-length jeans, a thin knit top and a blazer. I change up the colors of the top and blazer, but the jeans are either black or deep indigo. I have come to rely on this formula. I wear a scarf or a necklace, booties, boots or shoes. In the summer, I switch in white jeans and sandals. Works for me!

    February 8, 2020 / 9:54 am

Yes love the out fit. I might also wear a cute belt with the jeans. It is hard to determine the length of the jeans so not sure what shoe but that could all be worked out.

Not only would I wear it, it’s pretty much the outfit I’ve got on. My red blazer is wool. My top is black with small white dots and my jeans extend to my ankles. But to most eyes, it would look identical. LOL!

    February 8, 2020 / 9:17 am

I love that! I’d tuck the shirt in all the way, though. I’m not a french tuck person. Enjoy the warmth! I’m jealous! Xx

    February 8, 2020 / 9:02 am

Yes! I am starting to like button up shirts very much especially with a cute scarf tied at the neck. I would wear darker wash jeans and I feel the same about the half tuck. Sometimes it’s cute and then the other day (at the most divine people watching spot ever – the airport) I saw a lady with chubby belly and a front tuck. We are supposed to flatter ourselves, not blindly follow a trend.
I have been told that I am a warm spring, so I think that color red would work for me, usually I wear a darker red.
    Have fun in the sun!!

I like this look. The blazer is a classic and red is a great color on me as long as it is a cool red. I love the blouse. I prefer a small print because it doesn’t overwhelm me. I would prefer a darker jean. The only thing I don’t like is the partial tuck; it looks sloppy to me. I can just hear my mother saying, “Tuck your shirt in.” A generational thing, I guess. I know others like it, but to me it makes a really great look fall apart.?

  23. Mollie M.
    February 8, 2020 / 8:45 am

Yes, I would wear this outfit but with a darker jean. The red jacket is beautiful. I am seeing plenty of red lately in styles, but you have to wear a shade that suites you. This jacket is versatile as I can see wearing it with a navy and white top with white jeans,

  24. Pamela Lutrell

I would wear this…but would have to try on the pieces to know if I would buy it. I am trying not to purchase dark items right now, so if the blouse was white with hearts, I would be more interested. But the display does make me want to try it on.

I love this outfit, mainly because I have one exactly like it. I have other colored blazers and blouses; and mine fit me correctly. This is my uniform: skinny jeans or boyfriend jeans, blouses half tucked and blazers.

This is definitely my style. I’d have to be sure that the red is the “right” red for me. Other than that, I love it. Jennifer, what would you advise for shoes? That’s always my dilemma.

  31. LINDA J
    February 8, 2020 / 7:20 am

It’s a nice look but not for me. I like the cut of the jeans, but I prefer a darker wash. As far as the shirt goes, I like that it’s a small print, but I don’t wear collared shirts, I also don’t wear blazers, I have just never found one that looks good on me, I would go for a light jacket or cardigan. I have nothing against red, but I don’t have any red pieces and not sure if I would wear it.

  32. Elaine @ Following Augustine
    February 8, 2020 / 7:16 am

At first glance, I love this look! The blazer is the right shade of red for me and would be a great addition to my wardrobe if it fit well. I like it with the shirt that’s shown, but I’m trying to steer away from black near my face as it isn’t flattering to my complexion. I like the style of the jeans, but I prefer a darker wash.

I would try on the blazer, generally I prefer a one button blazer but this might fit well, and I would wear the blouse. The jeans? I like the high rise, don’t like the length (the longer blazer and shorter pants look out of proportion to me in this photo). Generally I prefer a darker wash but have noticed the light wash is trending so maybe it’s ‘grow on me’?

  38. Becky
    February 8, 2020 / 6:54 am

I like this! I think the color of the jeans is a nice contrast to the dark navy of the shirt. The tiny pink hearts are adorable, and the red blazer makes everything pop.

  42. Rose
    February 8, 2020 / 6:33 am

I would definitely wear this outfit if the red was a good red and fit well. Depending on how well the jeans fit I might tuck in the blouse.

  43. Donna Nance
    February 8, 2020 / 6:32 am

I love this outfit and would wear it, if the blazer fit properly and the blouse didn’t gap. Fit is everything! I would wear it very old school and tuck in the blouse. Everything has classic elements, which I love. The outfit would also be pretty dressed up a bit more with slim navy pants. Enjoy your trip and enjoy the sun and warmer weather. I’ll be thinking of you as I sit here in the gloom and cold…just sayin’…

Interesting ensemble; however the black polka dot shirt is jarring to me with the red blazer. So I would change it out with an abstract or floral red/black print sleeveless top (too warm in SoTx for 2 long sleeve tops worn together). The red jacket is too warm toned for me so need a blue red. I would also wear black ankle dress pants or black jeans (not liking the washed out jeans look). On second thought the black/white stripe top (only short or sleeveless) could be an alternative. Add simple hoop or abstract earrings for a finishing touch.

It’s a cute outfit. I think positioning the mannequin so she looks like she’s in motion lends excitement to the display.
Red, particularly near my face isn’t my color. The dark colors in the outfit would go for early Spring.

Need loooonger jeans! I love crops & tees with cute sandals or tennies, but longer ankle-covering jeans with this blazer and button front blouse. Otherwise, perfect-o!!! ??

    February 8, 2020 / 5:54 am

My first impression was “wow”, I love that look! It shows how a couple of casual pieces are dressed up with a classic blazer. I don’t think I would make the investment in a red blazer. It’s a very memorable piece of clothing and I would prefer a less structured jacket or sweater in a more neutral color. Thanks again for a fun conversation!!

Love it! I bought the shirt!

  50. MRSBEN2
    February 8, 2020 / 5:47 am

Do like the style of the blazer and its shade of red, however I would not invest in it as its a color that doesn’t suit me. Secondly I feel that since our Spring is somewhat short (had 5″ of snow yesterday) and though the blend of fabric (95% cotton/5% spandex) is okay I would actually prefer it to be unlined to get my monies worth (@$195.00 Cdn. funds) as could wear it well into the summer. As to the shirt I might consider it but would be changing out the white buttons to navy (or even pink) ones. Also, it would depend on its fit due to the fullness in its back. Last but not least, though the jeans description is ‘high rise’ they appear to me as a ‘mid rise’ which I find for myself not all that comfortable wearing due to stress on the hips ( particularly if I wish to add a belt) plus their leg length most likely would be too short on me. -Brenda-

    February 8, 2020 / 5:36 am

I’d wear the blazer and shirt (live a red blazer), but I’d prefer a darker wash fir the jeans. Also, I’d prefer a slightly fuller cut on the legs as skinny/slim leg pants and I are no longer friends.

That’s a very cute outfit! I would wear the jeans and the blouse and a blazer in a different shade of red. That one is just not the right shade for me.

  53. Michele
    February 8, 2020 / 5:23 am

I actually like these three pieces…to wear together or separately to make other outfits. I would prefer a different wash on the jeans, but since I am retired, jeans are a staple in my wardrobe. I don’t wear heels, so a ballet flat, slip on tennis shoes, or booties would be footwear options for me.

The fact that everything has to fit is a given! Given that, I would wear the blazer in a navy – red is too much for me. I do like the style. The shirt is cute; would wear that, no problem. Love those high-rise jeans; however, I don’t wear cropped or short jeans, because I’m short, and they make me look even shorter. So – lengthen the jeans, give me the blazer in navy, and I’d take it all home!

  55. Karen
    February 8, 2020 / 5:16 am

This is super pretty. I don’t usually wear red, but this is a gorgeous shade. I’ll be on stage during this year’s high school graduation as class advisor. Our school color is red, so maybe this blazer over a summer dress would work. I love thIs whole look.

  56. Yvonne
    February 8, 2020 / 5:11 am

I actually really like this look, which is surprising as the only prints I wear are large, geometric, but this is so subtle it doesn’t read as a print to me. I would switch the jeans to a dark wash and wear with either navy slip on sneakers or with a traditional white lace up for a real preppy look. Is preppy still a style? 🙂 Silver earrings and a navy cross body bag to complete the look and voila!

  57. Kathy
    February 8, 2020 / 4:58 am

I would wear this entire outfit. I love the high cut jeans. The blazer is shorter than usual and I like that. The colors are great for spring and summer. I could wear this as a Friday jean day outfit at work!

  58. Susan McClelland
    February 8, 2020 / 4:58 am

I would wear the jacket and shirt. Like others, I would need to try it on for fit and to ensure it’s the right red for me. Pass on the jeans – they look short and since I’m 5”7’, expect they would hit my leg in the wrong place and look silly rather than flattering. I like the colours of the skirt(?) beside the mannequin and wish I could see more of it.

  59. Phyllis
    February 8, 2020 / 4:47 am

A definite yes! Love all 3 pieces (would have to check to make sure the red is good for me). That is the perfect out fit to wear this time of year in Georgia.

  60. Nancy

I like the blouse especially and the cherry red is perfect with it and for the month of February. I have a pair of skinny jeans like the mannekin is wearing but I would probably go dressier with this rather than casual. I do have a dress which matches the blazer and it is a floral print. I would wear black pants or jeggings with it. Have a great time in Palm Springs, Jenn!

I like the high rise slim jeans and would wear them. The style and the wash are nice and casual for running around town. I would wear the blouse in navy with light blue or pink hearts. The black/red combo is too stark for me. The blazer is cute but I would prefer it in navy. The red is too overpowering for me.

  64. Cheryl
    February 8, 2020 / 4:21 am

I agree with Paulette! Must check the jacket for fit. Also I look best in reds that have a more blue base than a tomato color so this jacket would need to pass this test as well. Otherwise I like the combo of shirt, jacket and jeans. My lifestyle is more casual now but if I wanted to take pieces from this outfit and dress it up it could easily be done. Very flexible selection!

At a first glance I can safely say I like this, not love it. First off I’d have to see how the jacket would feel across the chest if buttoned. It’s a personal thing. I rarely wear a blazer flopping open like this. Only sometimes. The small print on the blouse is fine, actually the only prints I Feel comfortable in. (Large florals make me feel I’m wearing somebody’s drapes)! I might open the neck a bit and add a cute choker style necklace. Not necessarily all of the time, but as an option. I do wear jeans and leggings many days so the jeans are fine!
