Would You Wear Dark Floral

Would You Wear Dark Floral

Happy Weekend ladies. Yesterday, we went to my husband’s follow up appointment after his lung cancer surgery and are thrilled to get confirmation that his cancer was stage 1, A 3!! Right now, he is cancer-free. There’s no need for radiation or chemotherapy at this time. He now moves to the monitoring stage. Every 6 months they will CT his lungs to be sure cancer hasn’t popped up anywhere else. We are truly blessed and so thankful for all your thoughts and prayers.

Note- My posts are being stolen and published on another site so if you aren’t reading this on A Well Styled Life please click over and read it here.

Now on to would you wear it. If you’re new here, welcome! Each week my friend Pam and I share a picture of a mannequin and ask if you would wear what it’s modeling. Stores are dressing these mannequins to inspire us to purchase so we love to hear what you think.

dark floral top and pants from LOFT

this outfit is at LOFT

I would love you to share how you might style this look to work for your shape and lifestyle.

Do the colors work for you? How about the proportions?

Please keep your comments personal to your body because some women will love what you don’t.

On Monday’s post, Bea commented that she wished there were more v-neck t-shirt dresses to choose from. I agree because they are the most flattering neckline on me too. I went on a hunt…and ended up ordering a couple:) Here are a few I found-

Now let’s go to Over 50 Feeling 40

and see what Pam’s mannequin is modeling today.

Thanks for reading and remember to wear what makes you feel confident.

Wonderful news about your husband! I do like the top. It’s kind of got that boho look that I like. The pants, not so much and definitely not with the top.

What wonderful news for your family! I know you both must be feeling much relieved…
I recognized this blouse as I have a similar one bought last year at Loft. I like the dark light blouses with fuller long sleeves to wear in the fall and early winter because it is still hot here into early November. I’ll never forget my daughters wedding was Oct. 24th and it was 92 degrees in the Sacramento area.

Great news about your husband and I hope he stays cancer free.
This top appeals to me. Even with the long sleeves it looks cool and comfortable. I like to pair a top like this with light-colored pants, but not the ones in the picture unless they were full length.

I very much like the top and the pants and I like them together. I would wear them. It’s not as hot here as it sounds like it is every where else in the world.

Colorful florals on a dark background are favorites of mine. I would have to avoid those long sleeves right now, though. Excellent news for your family.

Wonderful blessed news on your husband’s medical report, Jennifer!! So very happy for you both and your family!!
As for the top, it would be a bit too much for me unless of course I sprouted 6+ inches in height, upward!
The print is very attractive and I would really like it in a scarf worn over a solid blouse.
    Enjoy your weekend!!! Xo

Great news for your family regarding your husband’s cancer free information.
I like the blouse and pants – not sure I would wear them now. The black background is not an issue with me and I wore a navy background with flowers and light colored pants recently but the top was short sleeved. Looks better than the long sleeves for summer and seemed to be balanced.

Wonderful news! I like this top, I like florals, the length and neckline and I’m okay with sleeves. But, I probably wouldn’t wear it. The dark color background with the long sleeves make it look more like cool weather (wintery rather than summery) and I’m a pyramid body shape. Wearing a dark color on top and white (or light) on the bottom isn’t flattering and wearing it with a black pant seems like too much black.

Such wonderful news Jennifer doing a happy dance for you all 🙂 How lovely to hear thanks for sharing. Now onto the post-I like the green trousers but I don’t like the trim at the bottom and I think the top is too shapeless for me overall. I can imagine it looking good on someone with red hair though! Happy weekend and thanks for the tee shirt dresses.

Hi Jennifer, I am so happy for the news about your husband. Regarding todays look, I love the pants but the top wouldn’t work for me as I am short and small and I think it would overwhelm me.

I’m so happy to hear the good news about your husband!
I do wear prints with a dark background but this print doesn’t appeal to me. I have a blouse that’s cut just like this one so I know I can wear the style but it’s definitely not my first go-to look. I like the cut of the pants and the trim on the hemline but I don’t like the color. I’d choose a darker color to wear with this top.

God bless you as you travel this path to restoration. So happy for the results!
I would wear the top. I have several flowy long sleeve flowered tops. I do wear them with skinny jeans. I would pair this dark one with a darker pant. It just has a better silhouette for me.

I am beyond thrilled to hear about your husband’s positive surgery results.
This gives me renewed hope as my husband has surgery for bladder cancer is on Monday.
We are hoping for the same result.
Were you allowed in the hospital during your husband’s surgery?
Due to Covid 19 I am not allowed in the hospital.
I can only drop off & pick up which I understand but is causing me extra anxiety.
Thank you for sharing your journey as it gives me hope.

Sending prayers for you and your husband, Kim. I was allowed to wait in the surgical waiting area but had to leave as soon as he was out of surgery. It is so very stressful to be kept away from our loved ones. Especially when they need our support most. There is always hope and he is in the best hands possible. Please keep me posted on how he and you get along. XX

First of all, so happy to hear the good news about your husband!

The dark floral is right up my alley since I have dark hair and olive skin coloring, not crazy about the style, a little retro for me. The same print in a sleeveless would suit me better.

I know what it feels like to put your life on hold, waiting for things to get back to normal and get on with living. I’m so happy you can now move on from this.
I wouldn’t wear them together but I would wear them separately. I’d wear the top with dark washed regular jeans and the top with a watercolor top I have. Im short so I don’t like contrast that much.

Yay! So happy to hear the good news about your husband! :0). It’s so wonderful to hear good news these days.

I really like the blouse on the mannequin, would most definitely wear it but with black skinny or straight jeans, half tucked in front and sleeves pushed up. I have many floral tops, love pattern and color!

Thanks for your wonderful blog, really enjoy it! Take care!

So happy for you and your husband – you have so much to celebrate!

I absolutely love the dark florals and would certainly wear the top. In fact I am drawn to lots of dark prints, paisleys and folkloric designs in particular. They seem a bit more sophisticated and the colors pop on the dark background. Maybe it’s the 60’s calling to me, but I love that moody aura the dark patterns create.

So happy to hear your husband’s great news! Yes, I would wear the dark floral top and the light jeans; in fact I have several similar tops and jeans. I wear these tops with a half tuck to keep them from having too much volume. I don’t wear them in summer because I want short or sleeveless tops in summer.

A blessing your husband is cancer free. 💕

I love the top but would try on to be sure the print wasn’t overpowering my petite body.

I love a print on a dark background but find this one busy. The top also seems voluminous. So, it would be a pass for me. And, the light green pants seem off with the darkness of the top.

Good news on hubby! Now, you vacant breathe.

Well, I’ll try to comment on your blog again. Sometimes it doesn’t get posted.
I love the blouse. In fact I have a dress in similar print, the fit (slight swing style), but sleeveless. My husband loves it. He loves small prints and on navy backgrounds. I like the ruffle neckline and my dress has a little tie that I tie low down at the v. Also have one with white background and orange and yellow and pinky-red flowers.
Love the jeans, too, especially the lace accent. Would buy.

So glad to hear your husband is “cancer-free”.

I would definitely have worn that top in the 70s and I still like it, but I know now that the colours aren’t the most flattering for me, so though I’d be tempted, I’d probably pass. I would definitely try on those cute pants though.

  49. MRSBEN2
    July 11, 2020 / 6:39 am

The top is just not my style as prefer classic and/or tailored plus being a sewer myself, agree with Jan about its neckline. As for the pants, do like the added detail to their lower leg but would not pair with the top shown (too busy) as feel they should be the star of the outfit so would choose something simpler and add a nice pair of footwear to draw the eye to such.

I like the print of the blouse, but sleeves are too full for me. I’m petite like you, so I have to be careful about these things. Most importantly, I’m so thrilled for your husband, you and the family!!! What a relief! May God continue to bless!!!

  52. Debbie Bell
    July 11, 2020 / 6:29 am

This outfit looks to me like those who dress “peasant style” as we called it in the 70s or BoHo would love it and even accessorize it.
On the model, it appears to divide her in half, and that breaks the 1/3 or 2/3 rule, correct? Some don’t need to worry about that, however.
So, I’m a “no” on this one, but I bet both of my sisters would wear it.

Have a great, relieved weekend. Enjoy every day. So glad for you both!

I like the design of the blouse but the print seems somewhat dull. I would prefer a brighter cast of colors on the black background. Aso like the long sleeves and loose look of peasant style which work for me. Love the embroidery on the ankle pants but not the color, would prefer white or black pants for an elongated look.

Very glad you got some good news. The waiting must have been insane, but now you are able to take a breath and let some stress go. Have a little celebration while the family is together.
As for the look above, I like the print but have had that type of top before and got rather frustrated when I had to bend over for any reason, it would fall open and show all kinds of things. I am moving away from the really slim bottoms now that my knees are two different sizes from surgeries. I do like the look however for someone else.

Wonderful news about your husband. Such great news and I am sure a great relief for you both.

I love the outfit. The dark floral is very pretty and I would wear it, it let’s talk about the pants. I love the detail at the bottom. It takes a nice pair of jeans to the next level.

It’s such great news for your husband and for you and your children!
The display today does not appeal to me on several levels. The printed, full top has a neckline that looks like one of my sewing projects “gone wrong”. They grabbed a lot of fabric and gathered it to create a small ruffle. The raglan sleeve and boxy fit do nothing for my shorter profile. There is no way that I could fashion the stretchy, light colored pants to look good on me.
    Have a great weekend!

What is it about this that feels frumpy to you

Yes, I would wear this. The dark floral is a nice contrast to the lighter pants. I don’t stop wearing dark colors just because it’s summer. The blouse is a favorite style of mine. The peasant elastic neckline helps bring fullness to my non existent chest.

Jennifer, I’m so relieved and happy to read of your husband’s good news! Wishing you both the best of health.

Not so delighted to learn that your posts are being stolen and published elsewhere. I hope that can be rectified.

I admire the outfit above, but regretfully, I don’t think it would suit me. My overall slender frame is overwhelmed by voluminous tops (though I do enjoy tunics and flowy tops combined with slim/skinny bottoms). Busy prints also seem to overwhelm me as I get older and shrink in height. Sadly, too, very few greens complement my complexion.

Thank you, Beverly. These are the kind of things that remind us just how important our good health is.

That is wonderful news about your husband!
The outfit is not for me as I don’t like concentrated prints or peasant tops.

    Great news Jennifer!
The blouse would not work for me. This floral is too busy and I don’t like the full sleeves with elastic wrist – too much. The embroidery on the pant legs is distracting here. I would wear the pants with a solid color top.

I love the blouse….dark floral with a v neck is exactly what I prefer. The pants are adorable on the model but too fitted and short for me. I need a looser leg that is full length.

So thankful for your good news. I continue to 🙏🏻 For you both to enjoy good health and make many more memories. The ones we’re making in these crazy Covid times are different from what we expected but they’re certainly going to be memorable!

I’d wear the top in fall or early spring… right now temps have gotten high enough I’m only interested in light colors and light flowing fabric or linen. I’d wear it with pants I already own since the ones on the mannequin just don’t appeal to me.

Best to your husband. Know that Is a great weight off him)and you) emotionally. Always good news. Like the top and would wear it. Just a change in the pants color to white, pink or black.Since i have a similar pair in white, fro Soft Surroundings, I guess I was thinking in those terms. The green is a funny color(to me) so would get limited wearings.

Thank heavens for your wonderful news! Prayers do work! I like the outfit but if I had a choice would rather the top be the green floral with dark pants or white pants.

Yes! I actually have this top and love it. I’m 5’7” and 150 lb. 61 years old. I style with black riveria pant or a lilac (same color as flowers) skinny jeans from Old Navy. I’ve had many compliments.

so happy to hear your husbands great news!
i love todays outfit, i would want the pants in a tall, ankle pants arent my first choice. i like the neckline on the blouse, and the print, and the length…not overly fond of elastic wrists though, even if they are the loose fashion like this.

Our prayers have been answered. Cancer Free! Magical words Jennifer. Bless you and your husband. Take a deep breath!
On today’s mannequin — it’s a yes from me! I love the top as it’s small print, a Ver neck effect which helps my face shape and flatters me. The pant is fine too though I might pair with a pant I already own with the same narrow leg.
