Seduction of Meditation: And its Benefits
When I was 17, my mother and I learned Transcendental Meditation. This was the same meditation technique taught to the Beatles by their guru, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
I’ve meditated off and on ever since. Sometimes I’m very consistent. But other times, I have trouble quieting my mind. But I always find meditation very rewarding.
Some Benefits of Regular Meditation:
- lowers stress
- reduces blood pressure
- increases your attention span
- reduces anxiety symptoms
- improves your sleep
- improves your memory
- can help improve symptoms of fibromyalgia and psoriasis
- increases immunity
With benefits like these, who wouldn’t want to mediate?

I’ll be away next week and expect to be out of touch. I may use Instagram, just to share some of the experience. But it should be a major unplug and life changing week. I’m attending a Deepak Chopra meditation and yoga retreat.
When they emailed our 7 day schedule, I cried. Literally. I am beyond ready to recalibrate my priorities and reconnect to my inner self and spirit.
Seduction of Spirit is a signature meditation and yoga retreat, held on the grounds of the La Costa Resort. It’s an opportunity to step away from the stress and busyness of daily life. Climb off the hamster wheel of obligations and reconnect to your true self so you can live with total awareness.
Each day begins with yoga, followed by group mediation. My yoga will be from a chair, which is fine.
This retreat is an in-depth focus on Deepak’s book, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, which I have read several times.
Don Miguel Ruiz will be joining Deepak, as will several other thought leaders. Don Miguel Ruiz wrote another of my favorite books, The Four Agreements. It’s such a simple book with a very powerful message.
At this once-in-a-lifetime, 7-day Seduction of Spirit event, under the guidance of these world-renowned thought-leaders, you will:
-
Gain a clear sense of direction and purpose for your life – by tuning in to your inner guidance system that will
always lead you to fulfilment and joy.
-
Discover that wise eternal aspect of yourself – the source of all your happiness, creativity and love.
-
Shed layers of accumulated stress – and let go of other spiritual blocks, including resistance, anxiety, depression and worry.
-
Let go of self-limiting beliefs and agreements – and start living an authentically satisfying, joyful life.

I’ve attended a Chopra Retreat before, and it made a profound change in how I saw the world. But more importantly, how I saw myself.
In recent years I’ve become much less regular with my practice. And I feel it! After advocating for my brother-in-law, as he lost his battle with cancer last August, I decided I needed and deserved to attend this. It’s expensive, but the value will be priceless for me.
Namaste
Do you meditate?
I’ve been practicing yoga for 20+ years but the meditation side has always been a struggle for me. Thank you for the reminder of how beneficial meditation can be.
I wish you continued healing and a wonderful retreat!
I’d love to give it a try but am afraid I can’t sit still for too long. Thanks for sharing with us at Thursday Favorite Things 🙂 Please join us again this week!
I meditated regularly until I’ve gotten deeply emersed in 1010ParkPlace. I’ve even printed two copies of a note to myself and left it in different parts of my house to remind me. The one on my desk gets covered up with other to-do lists, none as important as taking care of me. Enjoy, sweet friend.

I’ve been to events, meditations, and private retreats at La Costa. Sometimes specifically at Chopra Center there. Just the grounds are other worldly in their beauty. I wish you profound peace and re-centering while there. Nothing better, in my opinion, to sink $$ into.
Great minds think alike I have just published a post on mindfulness meditation. Enjoy your retreat.
Jen, I hope it’s wonderful. It’s time to treat yourself and enjoy some time to do nothing. I love the La Costa resort. It’s beautiful and it will be a treat just being there. So excited for you!! xoxo Kim
Hi Jennifer,
it sounds amazing. I did read another great book called 10% happier which advocated meditating. I will look for the Seven Spiritual Laws. Can’t wait to hear how it goes. Enjoy! xx Nancy
Sounds like an incredible retreat. Enjoy my friend!
Thank you Jennifer for your interesting posts and positive outlook. It is so easy to take everyday life for granted, and get caught up in the small stuff. All of a sudden when something BIG and tragic happens, we look at life quite differently….. and your wisdom and strength shines through your words. Meditation – it is what would make a world if difference in my topsy turvy life right now, Thank you. I needed that reminder.
Enjoy. I love the idea and have read lots of how to books but have yet to make it into a practice. This retreat looks wonderful and I look forward to hearing all about it on your return.
Enjoy your trip, Jennifer. Thanks for joining the #funsummerfinds linkup!

I have read almost all of Deepak’s books and find them very enlightening and helpful. Can’t afford the retreats but wish you the best of times!
Meditation…..I’m always promising to do it, and yoga too, but then life happens. sigh. What a marvelous time you will have.
Have a wonderful time. Yoga and meditation are two staples in my life. This is the thing to do, more and more I realize how necessary so called “down” time is. Funny, that’s what we call it but it’s really just plugging into something vital and replenishing. Anita
NO< I do not meditate and I want to know what you think about when YOU DO!
I was just THINKING about LA COSTA SPA the other day!Thinking a SPA week would be GOOD for me too!YOU enjoy and then TELL ALL………UNPLUG UNPLUG………ALL FOR IT!
OFF YOU GO…………………
Jennifer this retreat sounds like just what the doctor ordered and I am so thrilled you can attend! I have ready both of these books, by Chopra and Ruiz! Must admit my meditation time has been too sporadic and I know how important it is!! Will look forward to hearing lots after the retreat!
