Modern Edgy Defacto Jacket

It’ll be weeks before we need coats here in Northern California so I’m reaching for other options to stay warm. I love this time of year because I get to play with layers which offer so many options. Sweaters and wraps are certainly cozy but nothing beats a great jacket for making me feel instantly polished and pulled together.

Today I’m sharing the newest addition to my wardrobe which you’ll see lots of in the future. As a brand ambassador for Artful Home, I get the opportunity to choose a few items from each new collection to share with you. With an entire new collection to choose from, I always seem to fall for a Spirithouse Jacket. That tells me their style is in line with everything I love in jackets.Jennifer Connolly styling the Defacto Jacket from Artful Home

This Defacto Jacket is sewn from an all-season ponte knit which has a great weight and promises to become my new favorite. It has princess seaming with on-seam pockets and a slim silhouette. It’s clean lines and modern shape is fitted through the torso then eases over the hips giving my straight silhouette the illusion of curves…always a plus.

The collar can be buttoned to stand up or worn open. Both ways appeal to me, depending on the weather. It’s a soft gray chalk stripe on black which means it will go with all the gray I’m obsessing over this fall.

MY BEE PIN IS A FUN ALTERNATIVE TO A NECKLACE WHICH WORKS WITH THE JACKET BUTTONED ALL THE WAY UP OR LEFT OPEN.

I styled it here with black jeans and black accessories for a modern urban feel. I’ll also wear it with blue jeans and flats for a busy day of running errands. It could also go over a dress with heels for work or a dressier occasion. That’s one of my favorite things about these jackets…they dress up and down with ease.Defacto Jacket by Spirithouse being styled on A Well Styled Life

I love the contemporary vibe of this jacket. It’s classic lines and simple shaping will take me anywhere. Spirithouse jackets are always part of the Defacto Jacket by Spirithouse on A Well Styled Life

Even though I have finally lost a few pounds, (thank you low carb eating) I found this runs small. I went up a size and am wearing a medium. For reference, I am 5’4″ tall and weight 140lbs.

  1. I don’t see what all the hysteria is about replacing black either blue or gray. I think you look fantastic in black, especially with your hair. For me, black is always classy but also modern. I like it with your bug/been pin.
    Great post!

Love the style of jacket! I am straight up and down too, with broad shoulders. This is a wonderful silhouette. The length is perfect to go with many of the tunics that I like to wear. The bee pin is cute too. Although I love the clothes from Artful Home, sadly the price point is just too steep for me. But I enjoy seeing everything that you pick out because it helps inspire my closet.

    1. I’m delighted to inspire you Marsheila! They do have gorgeous clothes and I feel very fortunate to get to share them with you.

  3. Wow, that is flattering. As you say, it’s versatile. And it has pockets.

  4. Really cute jacket. I’d add a colorful scarf near my face for a pop of color. At $348 it is a little steep for my blood but will keep an eye out for a comparable at a more budget friendly price.

    1. A colorful scarf would be great topping this! Blue or red…almost any color would be pretty with it.

  5. very, very expensive !! $348. Could afford this BUT never would pay that much for any piece of clothing.
    It is cute

    1. It is really cute and beautifully made, Holly. Women have varying budgets and should buy what their budget allows.

      1. I agree…..just a nice comment, not meant negative????

      2. No worries, Holly. I didn’t see it as negative, just your reflection on the price.

  6. It’s a pretty jacket and the style is very flattering to you. This piece would have seriously tempted me too but I am determined not to buy any more black pieces. It is flattering to me now and I enjoy wearing it in the evening, but my silvering hair with my complexion means that I probably have only a season or two left at most in which I can wear it. So I am focusing on wardrobe additions that will flatter me for the next 5 years.

    Thanks for what you do!

    1. There are lots of color options out there for you too! Silver hair is just gorgeous with many colors

  7. You look great as always, Jennifer and I love that neckline on you! We are experiencing a surprise cold snap in South Texas. It was 27 two nights ago and that broke a record for us. But, it’s fun to wear my heavier clothes for a change.

    1. Wow, that’s really cold! I’d have hats and gloves on at those temperatures.
