My retail career began as a sales clerk at Ann Taylor, many years ago. I loved their great quality, classic American clothes, and not much has changed. Last week I was in while my daughter bought some great career clothes. I decided to see what I could find for my retired life in suburbia.
I’m a sucker for a great classic Breton (striped knit top). Most come with a crew or boat neck which isn’t great with my broad shoulders. I was thrilled to find this was a nice, heavy weight knit with a deep V-neck, both front, and back. The pants were their Devin, which they describe as their straightest fit. They’re slim through the hip and thigh which fit me like a glove. I adored them!
Next, I tried on shorts, which surprised me. I haven’t been tempted to try on a pair of shorts in over 30 years. They just weren’t part of my style, but I love these! They are a crisp, heavy cotton and reveal the same amount of leg I like to show in skirts; except they’re more casual.
When I picked up this floral skirt, I was sure I wouldn’t like it on me. But, I thought this pretty green on cream looked fresh. I really like how it looks! It’s easy to wear and comfy. It’d be great on a scorching day with flat sandals.
Then I tried on and fell for this white dress. It’s too long for me by about 5 inches, but that’s easy to fix. This is a versatile dress-up-dress-down style that fits my lifestyle.
I was thrilled to discover an entire Petite section right up front. The whole left side of the store was petite!
I will be back soon as their fall clothes come in. The colors are pretty; the quality is high, and the dressing room had wonderful lighting.
