Dressing Room Diaries: Chico’s

Dressing Room Diaries: Chico’s

Happy Friday ladies. I haven’t fallen off the map but we skirted the edges for a few days. The drive home meant 4 days out of internet range and a surprise 10-hour road diversion because of grass fires. We finally dragged ourselves home Wednesday evening to 104 degrees and a broken air conditioner. I had plenty I wanted to share with you but didn’t have the energy to even look for my laptop.!

Yesterday was also crazy busy but I was anxious to see what I have missed. Note to self…don’t travel for this long during some of the biggest sales of the year.

I missed the Chico’s big semi-annual sale but they are giving a 40% discount on your entire purchase, including some new fall things that are trickling in. Sorry to report I am out of practice because my pictures are very blurry.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled life modeling Chico's clothes

This new fall utility jacket is a gorgeous paprika shade with zip front and drawstring detailing at the elastic waist. I love the fit and fabric. The color is warm toned and not my best but would flatter a woman with warm coloring. I’m wearing it over this cotton slub V-neck tee and Zenergy So Slimming Ankle Jeggings. This knit denim jegging has lots of stretch and is super comfy. I like the tummy smoothing technology and they would travel beautifully.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled life modeling Chico's clothes

Here are these jeggings again topped with the Splice Striped Tunic. I love the angles of the stripes and the soft Tencel fabric which will be very cool in hot weather. The jeggings come in petite but the regular fit me perfectly.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled life modeling Chico's clothes

Here’s the V-neck slub top again, worn with the Scattered Stone Boyfriend jeans which I loved! They come in regular and petite. I am wearing the regular length which I like for the higher rise but they are 2 sizes too large for me. These would have gone home if they had had my size! The fabric is stretchy and soft without bagging out.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled life modeling Chico's clothes

This is the Drama Sleeve Shirt in a soft pink stripe. The balloon sleeve tapers in at the wrist so it will stay out of the salad bar. I tied it at the waist because the jeans have a fuller leg. These are the Platinum Barely Bootcut in Indigo. Sadly they are a size too large for me so look fuller through the thigh than they should.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled life modeling Chico's clothes

The colors are way off in this picture and the pants are huge, but you get the idea. Crisp Alabaster So Slimming Jeans embellished with clusters of jewels. The jeans are 3 sizes too large for me but I just had to try them on! I paired them with this teal (yes it’s really a stunning teal color) striped tie front Tee. I love how the stripes angled at the waist to give a slimming effect. I needed the petite version so the shaping would hit right at my waist. It also comes in 2 other colors and is a great twist on the classic.

This is the V-neck Slub Tin white and regular length Cotton Slub Cardigan worn over the Travelers Collection Striped Crepe Pants. These pants are called travelers for good reason…this fabric will never wrinkle and folds up small to pack. The slimming stripes and pull on waistband make this a sophisticated pant to wear for long trips or running around town. The cardigan comes in 9 colors, in both petite and regular. I needed the petite in this.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled life modeling Chico's clothes

This Kimono Maxi dress caught my attention from the front window and didn’t disappoint. I love it’s short kimono sleeves. The pattern matches perfectly at the front seam which is a sign of quality. It’s a very lightweight fabric so although polyester, it will feel airy on hot days. I am wearing the regular length and need the petite which wasn’t in my store yet.

I have linked some new things coming into Chico’s you might like to get a peek at while they still have the 40% off sale.

I have lots unpacking and catching up to do. My laundry pile is epic and the mail pile isn’t much smaller.  I’m excited to share several new brands with you plus some important new products that will help many of us lead more confident lives.

What have you been up to?

Thanks for reading ladies and have a great day!

I like several of these pieces, but the utility jacket really caught my eye. Love the paprika color!

It’s a vibrant color and great shape!

So glad you are back, and ready to shop! Have missed you. I love the jacket you show is as well as the stripe asymmetrical top. Nice! On the pants, I think I’d need to see them in person…for fabric, feel, fit etc. Yet, it’s so warm and humid here in the Northeast, the thought of pants is not in the plan. ( two months away)!
Hope your AC is fixed pronto!

Thanks Paulette! It’s good to be home. Pants are out of the question here unless they’re loose and lightweight! These temps take some getting used to for sure.

Everything was cute! I really like that jacket but prefer a more subdued color for me! Good that you are home and I sure hope the people you are renting from quickly got that air conditioning fixed!

I went several days without air in my new car until they finally realized I wasn’t joking. Grrrrrrr! Do I get to keep a rental while thay fix that and the turbo thingie!

I think you should get to keep it!! They finally fixed it at midnight so we didn’t get much sleep. I felt sorry for the A/C guy.

Great post — you look good in pretty much anything you try on, which must be nice! Glad you’re back!

Thanks Beth but it’s an optical allusion;). Many of these were the wrong size and if it’s totally not my shape, I leave it on the rack.

They are all very nice. Was surprised to see how wrinkled they were – I worked at Chicos, and when we received a shipment, we steamed almost all the garments before they went out on the floor.

I remember steaming clothes when I worked retail too. So few stores do it anymore.

Welcome back! I took advantage of the Chicos sale and look forward to their new season. Unfortunately the paprika jacket isn’t my colour but I’m sure there will be things to come that will suit me better. Chicos is coming with me on my trip to the east coast of Canada in a few days.

It’s not my color either. Have a great trip! I want to go there next year.

104 in the evening? You need to spend your summers on the island and winters in the interior CA. A person can’t function in that heat. Worse still, your hair! Ha!
I love the Splice Striped Tunic. That has you written all over it. The tie front, teal tee and cotton slub tank & sweater are winners.

I think I agree with you. 104 is way too hot for me and I hate having to hide in the air conditioner:) Summers on the island sound perfect to us.

Jennifer, what size are you wearing in the kimono maxi dress? Love it.

      July 27, 2018 / 10:25 am

I’m wearing it in size 1, regular, not petite.

Broken air con, not fun in the heat. It stays warm here until late October, early November, so fall fashions are hard to look at, or make decisions about. I love the Nordstrom sale, but I really have to be mentally prepared, to think 4 -5 months ahead! Welcome back.????

Thanks Eileen, it’s great to be out of the trailer but we shall see how long I can take this heat!

    You’re such a good sport.
Why some retailers don’t steam their clothes is way beyond me, looks like they came out of the ironing pile I have at home! I like Chico’s but some of their clothes are too boho for me, examples are the dress and weird jeans with “jewels”on them.
I do like your dressing room snaps with your comments. You generally are very nice with your comments and you give good tips why things look they way they do on your body.

Chico’s is one of those unique retailers who carry clothes for all styles from boho to classic. I lean toward the classics but also like to toss in some other looks for variety and fun.

I have the sub cardigan in two colors. It is lightweight, very soft, and extremely comfortable to wear. I love Chico’s clothing because it usually fits my body well, and their sizes run pretty true. I usually take a 1 on the top and a zero on the bottom because I have broader shoulders like you.

  12. July 27, 2018 / 5:38 pm

You look great in all of these styles, Jennifer! I really like the paprika jacket…going to look at that one right now!

The striped tunic and utility jacket are cute. That dress is horrible. Looks like Chico’s – Overpriced and their jewelry is so BIG! yikes. The jeans with bling are for 5 year-olds.

Your trip sounds amazing but I am sure you are happy to be home. I love the V Neck Slub Tees, currently I have 3 of them (one is the blue stripe) and can’t say enough about them. Your post has me thinking I should order the white/alabaster one. It didn’t look “see through”, did you like the weight of it?
Hope you are feeling more settled now and look forward to your next post.

Thanks for the preview. I must admit that I haven’t shopped Chico’s in a while, but love their new pieces. I picked up the cotton slub set in a teal color. Great for Florida weather.
