Dressing Room Diaries- Colorful At Loft

Today I have a try-on session from Loft. All tops and accessories are 50% off at Loft right now with the code SMILE. I’m not sure what’s up with my local store, but I suspect the supply chains are still disrupted. The collections trickle in with no rhyme or reason so it took me two visits to get these outfits. If you’re new here, welcome. A dressing room diary is when I go into a local store for a try-on session so you can see what’s new and how it looks on a woman over 25.

For reference, I am 5’4″ and weigh around 134 lbs with broad shoulders and straight hips. I have a long torso and long arms so I often buy one size larger on top. I try on clothes in colors and shapes that may or may not flatter me so you can see what’s in the stores and get some styling ideas. I tell you what sizes I am wearing to help you understand how things run.

This gingham top comes in regular and petite, in this orchid color, or black and white. Loft is carrying many things in orchid this spring, which is so great for women with cool-toned complexions. The sleeves are a dolman style which is flattering for women with narrow shoulders and wider hips…not my shape. I am wearing a medium petite.

The high-rise kick jeans come in regular or petite length and curvy or regular fit-(straight through the hip). They have an 11 1/2″ rise and 26 1/2″ inseam in regular length. I am wearing a 29 petite with a 24″ inseam. Both pieces run true to size (TTS). They have classic 5 pocket styling and a frayed hem.

I’ve styled these Riviera slim pants for you many times. They’re a great classic that comes in 7 colors and fit beautifully.  They come in regular (straight) and a curvy fit, petite and regular length. These are the petite 6 with a 24″ inseam. If I tucked this shirt in, I would add a pale-colored belt because the belt loops are prominent. The classic striped shirt is a linen/rayon blend that comes in regular and petite, I’m wearing a medium petite.

This is one of those easy summer dresses you can dress up or down. It’s fitted through the torso and flares out below the waist which is flattering for many women. It’s a soft, stretchy knit that could work for so many occasions. I am wearing a small which is a bit snug in the torso so you could size up easily. The classic denim jacket comes in regular or petite, I am wearing a regular medium which is 20 1/2″ long. This has 4% spandex making it very comfy and stretchy.

This gingham shirt is 100% cotton and comes in regular and petite. I am wearing a small regular. The high-rise skinny jeans are a softer yellow than they appear here. They come in regular and curvy fit, petite and regular length, sizes 24-34. I’m wearing a regular in 28 with a 27 1/2″ inseam…which is too long for me so I need the petite. They have a great high rise which I always appreciate and a whopping 4% spandex so they’ll always retain their shape.

The striped sweater tank is in soft shades of aqua, pink, and yellow on a soft white background. It comes in regular and petite, I am wearing a petite medium.

This gingham midi shirt is a linen/viscose blend in sizes regular and petite. It has a slit on the leg that reaches just over the knee. I am wearing a 6 regular which is 32″ long. The petite is 29″ long and would be a more flattering length on me. The white shirt is their classic 100% cotton shirt that would be a workhorse in my wardrobe. It has a relaxed, almost oversized fit so you could size it down for a snugger look. I am wearing a medium petite.

This cotton tee is a Fuschia and white stripe in 100% cotton. The fabric is very lightweight and beautifully soft. I am wearing a small so it runs TTS. I tuck tops in more than most women, so I’m shocked I didn’t take a picture of this tee tucked in 🙂 It looked really cute. These pants are a lightweight linen/viscose blend that comes in regular and petite. They have an 11/3/4″ rise and a 26″ inseam in this XS regular. They are a full fit and run generously so you could easily size down. They aren’t overly cropped on me so the petite would be a better proportion.

These high-rise skinny jeans have a finished hem (yay) and come in curvy or regular (straight), petite, tall, or regular length. I am wearing the straight cut in 27 regular which is way too snug and too long so they run TTS. I love the soft mint color and they also come in soft pink sizes 24-34. The shell on the left is soft cotton in regular and petite, XXS-XXL. I am wearing a medium petite. The ombre sweater comes in two soft color combinations. I am wearing the Astral Sky in regular small. The colors are softer than my picture shows so I would go by what you see on the website.

FYI- in case you wondered, I hold my phone upside down to take the pictures because it allows me to hold the phone lower and more perpendicular to my body which puts my legs in proportion in the photos.
