Today’s dressing room diaries started with Champagne and lunch with a girlfriend. It’s been a long time since we visited so I felt a little celebration was in order and Neiman Marcus always has Champagne at the ready.
After all, when is a glass of Pink Champagne ever a bad idea?
After lunch, Elizabeth, who writes the fun blog The Vintage Contessa was off to have adventures and I hit the Eileen Fisher department.
I made a small detour into the cashmere department…just to touch… I’ll be back to try on later! It was drool worthy.
I fell in love with this raincoat. The color, the reversibility and hood that makes such a dramatic collar, all appeal to me. The Stone color is a great neutral on me, and the Oregano (green) was surprisingly flattering. Softer colors are best on my own coloring, but I seldom reach for green. It’s available in black and for once I didn’t go for that.
Here’s the other side. The front has an asymmetrical closing which I always like. Almost double breasted but without the extra row of buttons.
These are Eileen Fisher Slim cropped pants in her fabulous washable crepe fabric.
Score one for me because I’m too short to look good in cropped pants, but they are ankle length on me! They’re in the same Oregano color as the coat and have a nice slit at the bottom.
Although I like how the rolled sleeve cuff shows the interior color, this coat was too large on me so I need the small.
Fun rain gear is a great way to offset the gloom of drizzly days. I have several utilitarian options in my wardrobe but always like to add unique ones.
What are you wearing in the rain this year?
I’m wearing – Eileen Fisher Reversible Raincoat // Eileen Fisher Slim Cropped Crepe pant
Love the collar on this and the fact that it is reversible! This looks great and chic in the rain. I would certainly enjoy the champagne!
jess xx
It’s such a great jacket. It doesn’t look like a raincoat.
Neiman’s is always a great choice, even if you’re just window shopping. xoxo, Brenda
I agree!!
That’s a lovely coat. I mostly wear my Burberry travel raincoat since it’s lightweight and stylish. I have a lovely lined one too but I find it too heavy most days. I love Eileen Fisher. My very favourite dress was eaten by moths and I’m waiting for a sale to repurchase.
Moths! I have a hate, relationship with them.
Burberry is the quintessential raincoat.
Sales are my favorite.
We don’t get a lot of rain here on the Canadian prairie, but I have a black trench from Gap for those rare occasions when I need it. I finally get to shop for a stylish pair of rubber boots because my decades old ones have basically disintegrated! I’ll likely have to wait until spring though as all the boots in our stores at this time of year are designed for our cold winters.
Great rain boots are so important in a rainy climate.
Hi Jennifer–I love this coat. The colors look great on you but would not be my best color choice. When you said it was available in black I decided to check it out. I found it on Neiman Marcus’ website in black/pewter combo (which was on sale) but I also checked the Eileen Fisher website and found it available in a black/dark night (kind of a bluish purple color) combo that was also on sale. Now, that color combo is perfect, so I bit the bullet and ordered. I chose the petite sizing (I’m 5’1″) and was wondering if you were trying on the missy or petite size? Hopefully it looks as great on me as it does you once I receive it.
Fabulous!! Finding the best color for you, is so important!
Think the coat is a good choice…perhaps they can order you a smaller size? Also love the ankle length pants. I am going over to Vancouver in November and will be eager to see what the South Granville Eileen Fisher has for sale!
How much fun did you two have ? Champagne and shopping!
Champagne and shopping are a wonderful combo. I do love the style and quality of Eileen Fischer.
I have a lipstick red trench that I’ve had for years. I love to slip into it on rainy/ light snow days to chase the gloom. I’ll change out scarfs to tie it to outfit of the day. So far I haven’t had to wear it yet this fall. Love the diaries!
Thank you, Leslie! Lipstick red sounds awesome. Great idea about the scarves.
I absolutely love the idea of reversibility in any of my clothing items!!
And those pants are the perfect fit.
But I will have to say, I opt for more color in my jackets—it’s an addiction, I know. But especially when the weather is gloomy, I feel the need for brightness somewhere!!
jodie
Bright colors are cheery. There’s no question about that, Jodie. You look great in bright colors!
Love the coat. Have you ever had your colours “done”
I have, when I was learning how to do other people’s colors 🙂 It was part of my Image Consultant training. We do need to get them updated as we age and our coloring changes.
Rain? Where? Whe?. Let me know down here in Southern California. Looking good Jennifer. Like that olive.
One can always hope!! Thanks Sandra!
So pretty on you! Love Eileen Fisher. I hope you got that coat the color was perfect with your coloring! Always a nice idea to have lunch at Neimans! Hope you two had fun! xo Kim
Why don’t you and I meet at the Neimans near you for lunch? xx

It was great fun to see you! It just has to rain sometime doesn’t it. The great thing is this jacket would look great even if it was dry out.
This whole look is beautiful on you…but I am taken with the pants. Might just check them out.
You look lovely!
Thanks so much my friend!
I have a navy blue with white polka dot raincoat with detachable hood and belt. It is fun, looks great and keeps me dry☺️
I love, love polka dots and I think navy with white is my favorite! I bet it looks great on you.
The coat is fabulous on you! The color is perfect for you, and I love that it is reversible!
Thanks, Andrea!!
Well! Lucky you to shop with the Contessa. That must have been fun!
I love that raincoat. When I saw the photo that Bloglovin’ gave with the preview, I thought, oooooh, that collar is divine. And that it’s a hood is even better. I have a winter coat like that and love it. Hoods are just perfect in the rain–no need for an umbrella.
Those “cropped” pants hit at just the perfect Jenna Lyons bare ankle spot.
And your (beautifully pedicured) bare feet in these shots make me smile.
She is a lot of fun!! We always have a great time together. I love hoods too. The way this one pleats folded back is just such a great way to frame the face. I always feel happier with fresh polish on my toes. 🙂
My favorite raincoat of all time is a bright tomato red. I don’t think I’ve ever worn it without a random stranger telling me they love the color. And I love that it’s cooled off enough to take it out again. I also bought a navy polka dot a few seasons back, but didn’t end up loving it as much as I thought I would.
That’s a beauty. So important to find colors that look good on us!
The red does sounding like a smashing color for a raincoat. Wearing colors that make our eyes and skin glow is such a smart way to look great.
That Elizabeth is everywhere. Love her! Sounds like the perfect way to spend a day. I by the way own that coat…which I love. janey
Lucky you!! You have excellent taste. 🙂
