Dressing Room Diary at WHBM

Happy Friday ladies. Today’s dressing room diaries is in a store I seldom visit. It’s on my regular shopping route but I never think to stop there so I decided we should see what’s new. White House Black Market is the sister store to Chico’s which many of us love.

If you’re new here, a dressing room diary is when I go into a local store and try on new merchandise so you can see how it looks on a woman over 25 who wears a size larger than zero. For reference, I am 5’4″ and weigh 135+ pounds. I have broad shoulders, narrow hips, and very few curves, I have a long torso and high rise with long arms. I usually wear one size larger on top to accommodate my shoulders.

This camisole has a lace bottom that is probably meant to be shown under your sweater. I tucked it in because having it hang below the sweater made my legs look even shorter than they are. It’s a great color match for this pullover that has a deep V which is low enough, I need to wear something under it.

I really love the fit of the jeans and was delighted to find the short (27 1/2 (inseam)  in the store. These are also available in long with a 32″ inseam and regular with a 30″ inseam.

This cropped cable sweater is a pretty off white. It’s also available in petite which would be way too short for my long torso. I’m a sucker for any cabled sweater and this one is no exception.

These high rise boot cut jeans fit like a dream except for the length. The color is a lovely deep wash, they have plenty of stretch but clearly, I need them in short with the 30″ inseam. They’re available in 3 colors as well as long with a long 35″ inseam.

These leggings run TTS but I would obviously be better with the petite. They come in several colors and do have spandex but the description doesn’t say how much. They do stretch but not as much as I like so they’re not overly comfy. The olive cable sweater is super soft and has a slightly cropped length so I like the regular for my long torso. I think it runs a bit small so size up.

This pleated neck-tie blouse has the same olive in it as the leggings. It’s not my style but I wanted you to see it because it may be yours. It’s got a slight puff sleeve and pretty feminine detailing which runs TTS. I prefer the leggings with the sweater, how about you?

This is the same camisole as shown above. This side by side is a good illustration of why the short jeans look better on me than the regular. That pooling above my ankle on the grey jeans just makes my legs look shorter.

The v-neck on this tunic is low enough to require a camisole. I wish they’d had a petite version in the store so I could compare. Petite’s are often shorter everywhere. I feel like this runs narrow so I would suggest you size up one size.

These are the same faux suede leggings as above but in the blackened pearl which is a deep gray. This tunic sweater looks like a layered top but it’s all one piece It’s available in several colors and specially priced in this soft gray color. It’s very soft and great for wearing over skinny jeans or leggings.

I like the higher neck tops on you, they make you look narrower across the shoulders. I think shape and fit is everything, or just about. As you say, it is knowing what suits your figure weighed against what you like wearing, not always the same thing.

As just currently viewing this on my cell phone, shall just comment on the use of the lace trimmed camisole. Personally they are a favorite of mine for adding a touch of femininity to an outfit. i.e.: Under a boyfriend blazer.

Jennifer……I really like the green on you and the flowery shirt was my favorite. Glad you visited a WHBM.
