We still have weeks before most of us will be needing jackets and boots but the new fall merchandise is trickling into stores and I’m so in the mood. I visited the Talbots in Victoria yesterday which is pretty small but they did have some of the new fall collection that I had fun trying on. I didn’t buy anything, but these photo’s have me going back for a few things.
If you’re new here, welcome. A dressing room try-on session is when I go into a store and try on the new merchandise so you can see how it looks on a woman over 25 and get some styling ideas. For reference, I am 5’4″ and weigh around 136 pounds. I have an inverted triangle shape with broad shoulders and straight hips with very few curves. I have a long torso and arms so often buy one size larger on top than the bottom.
Most Talbots garments are available in misses, petite, plus, and plus petite.
As always, you can click on the red highlighted text for more info and to shop the items.
This Portland pant is a new one for Talbots. It’s a modern slim leg style with a side zipper and front seam for a slimming look. These are incredibly comfortable and will look great tucked into knee boots this fall. I am wearing 4 petite which is way too small so size up for these.
This rib trim pullover comes in five colors, I’m wearing the almond Heather which is great for fall. It’s a soft cotton blend with a touch of stretch that will be great on its own or as a layering piece. It’s a slim fit through the torso so you might size up for a roomier look.
This toile striped Pima cotton top is the prettiest shade of blue. It has a bateau neckline and three-quarter length sleeves. It’s super soft and comfy. I’m wearing it with the Everyday Relaxed jeans in Orion wash on the left and right. These jeans have a nice high rise and fit terrifically but they do run large so I suggest you size down. I am wearing a 6 regular but would go down to a 4 petite. You can roll the bottom or straighten it for a more streamlined look.
In the center picture, I am wearing Talbots classic straight-leg jeans in the Venus wash which come and misses and petite. I love the fit of these jeans! They run true to size and feel wonderful on. The blue open cardigan is a cotton blend with a touch of wool that is not scratchy, It comes in five pretty colors and runs true to size. I’m wearing a small petite and it is plenty long for me.
The Easy Knit blazer on the right is a super comfortable piece to add to your wardrobe. It has a fun striped lining and gold crest buttons at the front and cuff. I love that it has stretch!
These are Talbots straight-leg corduroy pants that come in 9 colors. The curvy fit is here. They make these every fall with good reason…women love the look, feel and fit:). I’m wearing a 6 petite. They make several sizes in long for the taller ladies among us.
They also make the same look with a slimmer leg in a jegging here which you could tuck into knee boots this fall. The 100% cotton animal print sweatshirt is super fun, cozy, and selling out fast. I’m wearing a small.
Here are the same corduroy pants in gray with a cheetah print funnel neck sweater. There are two gold buttons along the shoulder and neck to close and it has 3/4 sleeves. This versatile little sweater will go with so many things…I also see it with this denim skirt and riding boots or suede booties.
In the center picture, I tossed on this Girlfriend cardigan which comes in 7 colors. It’s a cotton blend that will span the seasons and has my favorite v-neckline:) I’m wearing a small petite which is a bit snug for my broad shoulders so it runs true to size.
On the right, I am wearing the easy knit blazer again, this time in pink with the striped lining and all-important stretch:)
I love this look. It’s not a column of color but it’s matchy/matchy vibe appeals to my persnickety sense of order:) These are the same corduroy jeans as above, which fit like a dream, a classic denim shirt, and a cozy cable knit cardigan. I have this shirt from a few seasons ago and wear it a lot, all year long. It looks great with white denim and even soft colors.
This cozy cardigan comes in 3 colors in a unique knit that’s got a touch of everything in including stretch. It’s very cuddly and a great piece for the fall. The v-neckline makes it pretty versatile and looks great over button-down shirts.
There was a ton to see and try on in this small Talbots so I imagine my big one at home is even more packed with great pieces.
Thanks for reading ladies and remember to wear what makes you feel confident.
