Happy Friday ladies. I’ve never done a back-to-back dressing room diary before but when I learned they’re having a flash sale on linen shorts today, I decided to get this out to you while the sale is on. Of course, I didn’t try on any linen shorts….they’re $49 with the purchase of a linen tunic for $39, which I did try on.
Dressing room diaries is when I go into a store and try on new merchandise so you can see how it looks on a real woman over 25. For reference, I am way over 25:) I’ll be 65 in August…how’d that happen so fast? I’m 5’4″ and weigh around 136 pounds. I have an inverted triangle silhouette with broad shoulders and straight hips. My torso and arms are long so I often wear one size larger on top than the bottom.
This linen tunic a soft blend of colors that feel ready for a tropical vacation. It’s sized 0/2 – 20/22 in regular and petite. I’m wearing a size 8/10 regular (all they had left in the store) which is too large and long on me. It’s a very lightweight top yet totally opaque.
I’m wearing it with these denim shorts, but I wouldn’t style these together at home. For a tunic this long, I’d prefer a longer pant or skirt and would definitely choose the petite tunic which is 2″ shorter.
The shorts are a pull-on style with no zipper to get in the way and plenty of stretch. They’re super comfy and versatile. The regular has an 11″ inseam and the petite has a 9.75″ one. It comes in sizes 0 – 22. I’m wearing a 4 regular which fits so they run TTS. I prefer to size down with this sort of pant/short because they feel like they’ll slip down if they’re too loose.
You can see how light the tunic is because it tucked into these chambray-type pants easily. They have the look of denim with the coolness of Tencel so are a great option for really hot weather if shorts or skirts aren’t your thing. They come in regular and tall, XS-XXL. I’m wearing a regular 2 so I think they run a bit large.
Okay, so this linen tunic snagged my attention the second I walked in the door. It’s called a shirt so it may not be included in the flash sale….It’s white linen with metallic threads that add a subtle platinum sheen. The pocket has pretty edging detail that’s repeated across the back. It comes in sizes 0/2 – 20/22. I’m wearing an 8 which is too large on me and the armholes are too deep so I tied it at my waist to contain some of the fabric.
I’m wearing it with Brigitte So-Slimming capri pants. These come in regular and petite, sizes 0 – 22. in 6 colors. I’m wearing a 4 regular but would be better in the petite. The pull-on style has lots of stretch and the lack of a zipper means it leaves no bumps to show through any tops.
*I find Chico’s stretch bottoms to run a bit large so always like to size down to allow for how stretchy they are.
Here I tucked the top into a pair of Juliet pull-on denim ankle jeans. They come in both medium and dark denim wash sizes regular or tall, XS-XXL. I’m wearing a 2 which is a bit on the snug side so I think they run TTS. They’re a cotton/lyocell/polyester/spandex blend with tons of stretch.
Here are some linen shorts and tunics to match up for this flash sale…there is no rule that says you have to wear them at the same time:)
I’ll be LIVE today at 11 am PT / 2 pm ET on Instagram for our weekly Over 50 Style discussion. This time we’re chatting about how our beliefs surrounding style over 50 have changed… and anything else that pops up. I hope you’ll join us here. It’s my turn to host but Tania will be getting us started in case I need to leave early for a root canal. Joy!
Thanks for reading ladies and remember to wear what makes you feel confident.
