Flowy Jacket for Warm Days

Happy Wednesday ladies. I’m getting caught up on all the things that needed doing before we left on vacation. Funny how those things don’t go away, they just make you feel worse, the longer they’re ignored. Yesterday was a full day of errands with bookend conference calls.

It was unseasonably warm and we’re due to hit the 70’s for the next few days (sorry). I wore lightweight fabrics in pale colors with a nod to the season…dead of winter.

I wore a top I showed you back in 2015, here. It’s surprising funny shocking to go back and see how slim I was then. There’s been a lot of potato chips consumed since then (especially during the last 2 weeks) so I’m not tucking anything in these days :-O.

Something you may not know about me, I am a Lay’s potato chip addict. I don’t buy them at home because I have no control…but while traveling in our RV, I buy them every chance I get. Why do I do that to myself?Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life wearing Flowy Jacket from Covered Perfectly

Rather than bringing out sandals and a straw bag I chose Ultrasuede leggings with suede flats and a vintage mink handbag.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life wearing Flowy Jacket by Covered Perfectly

This outfit felt season appropriate and cool enough for the temperature. Living in a 2 season climate means most of my clothes get worn year round. It also means I need to be flexible with what I wear.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life

This jacket will be great worn over tank tops and sundresses because it’s very lightweight and covers the upper arm area, which most women (me) like to cover.

my snack of choice when travelling is Cheetos. And like you, I don’t buy them for home. I’d probably turn yellow all over if I did! Enjoy your warm days. We get one occasionally here in north Texas.

    1. Lol. I used to be a total Cheetoholic. I got tired of the orange fingers and switched to Lays.

  2. It must be lovely to dive into spring clothes. We’ve had a nothing winter so not even wearing winter gear nor spring. It’s been difficult to find enthusiasm for clothes.

    1. Those in between temps can be a dreary time for clothes. Add a brighter lipstick:)

  3. I am curious about your leggings! Ultra suede would be great right now …..under snow pants!!!!!! Well I’m in your homeland strong and free and bloody cold;) I have leather look leggings which I adore but are not always what I want. Two season climate….sigh…

    1. Sorry Alison. I do love all 4 seasons but it’s been 30 years since I struggled through humid summers and frigid winters. They’re not for the weak. Stay warm xx

No kidding first thing I thought when looking at your photo in the white top was how slim you look. So I don’t think you’ve done too much damage. And you have the discipline to treat yourself when away from home. Keeping the junk food out of the house is key. Wish I had yours discipline.

    1. Thanks Kathleen. My work is done;) My husband brings the stuff home and we buy it when we entertain which is always my downfall. If it’s not here I can’t eat it. If it is, it’s a challenge.

    1. I’m good at hiding it. I wear larger sizes;). It’s perfect for mild temps.

  5. Thanks for not bringing out the straw hat and sandals…I couldn’t have handled it. I may not see my toes until June. Great transition wear though!

    1. You’re welcome Janet;) It was 70 today and I stuck to closed toe shoes and a denim jacket. XX. Stay warm

  6. Re: Lay’s Potato Chips. I, too, find them irresistable. But my snack of the moment – it has actually been my fave for quite a while now – is Simply Cheetos White Cheddar Puffs. Oh, yummmmmm…..they also do them in a Jalapeno flavor, which my hub likes, but I’m a purist – white cheddar for me! (Best thing – your fingers don’t get all orange when you eat them, and 18 pieces is just 2 WW points!)

    1. Lol Candy. Those sound awesome. I was a Cheetos hound but the orange fingers were a drag. These sound perfect. Light. Airy. Cheesy. And salty. I’ll have to try them 😉

  7. You look pretty much the same to me as you did in the 2015 picture…..beautiful and classy. I also am a chip addict. 🙂

Really like this outfit, Jennifer, from top to bottom. My take has always been: if you see the person first and clothes second, or the clothes first and person second…it’s not quite right. THIS one is perfect…the “whole” is where it’s at…!

    Beautiful as I always 🙂

The light jacket is lovely, but I’m dying for more information on that handbag!

    1. My husband bought it for me many years age. It’s handmade from a vintage mink coat. I don’t use it often and now wonder why!

Hi Jennifer, Love the jacket…is there any stretch to it? Does it run true to size? I love that they had you model it on their website!!
I can relate to the chip addiction…I share that addiction, but you still look as thin as you did in 2015!
    Have great day!

    1. Thanks Debbie but my tummy is much thicker now. It’s got spandex in it so does stretch nicely and also holds its shape. It does run true to size. I’m wearing a medium in the top and jacket. In 2015 I was wearing a small:)

  12. Right there with you on chip-love! I’ve stopped buying them at the store too, but whenever I’m in a restaurant that offers a handmade version, you can bet I’m ordering them.

    1. Ditto! Homemade potato chips would be my choice over fries every time!

I have this cardigan, and I love it because it’s so versatile. I’ve even worn in as a scarf since it’s so lightweight and can be smushed. Along with I like tying the fronts too!!
I feel the same way about my Lindt chocolate truffles….oy!
    XOXO
    Jodie

    1. It’s so soft! It would look cute tied in front. Great idea Jodie

  14. It’s 20 degrees here today! Your outfit makes me long for spring. I really like the neutral colors and you still look slim. My downfall used to be cookies but now I prefer salty too, especially pretzel chips. Sometimes I add a glass of wine!

    1. Now you’re talking. Salty snack and a glass of wine. Perfect.

  15. Bet you can’t eat just one! My downfall are Fritos—have been ever since I was a kid (60 years ago!). Never have them in the house, but vacation trips are different. Love the outfit .

    1. Those are my second favorite. A huge bag of those was consumed on our vacation too!

  16. When we were in Italy I started seeing people having a drink and snack at restaurants around 5 pm. We checked it out and it was a Spritz and potato chips. It was delicious. I still enjoy this back home through the summer sitting outside on our deck. We always use Lay’s thin potato chips. I did start using the small single packets so I could not overdo the quantity!

    1. I made my own French fries last night, using the copper griddle my late husband gifted me, copper net grill, whatever. One average potato cut into fry slices, left the skin on, and I doused them with light olive oil, baked them till they stank DONE! Better for one than potato chips, I used deli hot mustard for dipping along with my skinny beef steak.

I love your column Jen, I’ve been wearing black leggings for all seasons, they’re slimming and sexy BASIC… Why all the jewelry? Invest in lighter shade lenses sunglasses, they cost like, five hundred at Macy’s or online, but they’re durable, you can see through them and not as ageing as harsh black lenses.

      1. I adore wearing jewelry, always have. It brings me joy and I like it! The older I’ve gotten the bolder it’s become:) Those fries sound great.

    2. I’ve never heard of that. Sounds wonderful. Those tiny bags are a smart idea but feel so small;)
