Fresh Summer Finds

This post is sponsored by Talbots and ShopStyle

Happy Monday ladies. I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was filled with family, laughter, good food, and reading. Saturday night was all about cut-throat dominoes with my grandson, then my daughter and I made brunch for everyone on Sunday. Now more than ever, I realized that family is everything. The big smiles you see in these photos are me smiling at my grandson who was taking photos with my phone as my husband was using the camera.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life wearing Talbots Tencel shirt and white linen blazer

Today I’m partnering with Talbots and ShopStyle to share some of their fresh summer classics. Today is the last day of their amazing Friends and Family Sale with up to 50% off their entire site (some exclusions apply). Save 50% off 3 items, 40% off 2 or 30% off 1. I’m always honored and delighted to partner with Talbots because their clothes are beautifully made and their classic styles are ones you’ll reach for again and again.

We talked about how to find the perfect white tee here and I’ve found myself a fabulous one here! White tees are one of those things that look best when they’re crisp and clean so they usually need to be refreshed each summer. This one is thick enough to be opaque, thin enough to be cool, and the cotton is Pima which makes it very soft. V-necks are universally flattering and especially so with my wide shoulders. It comes in a ton of colors, and I have a few on order, including another white one because I can never have enough fresh white tees for summer.

I am a denim lover through and through and can never get enough of soft denim shirts. This patch pocket denim shirt is super soft and pliable which makes it very comfy. I’m wearing a petite medium which fits perfectly. lt makes a great third piece over a tank or tee and is terrific on its own. I added this little neckerchief for a fun little pop of color.

These Modern Ankle Jeans have the same great fit as all my Talbot jeans with a terrific high rise. They’re very comfy fit. I’m not the ripped or distressed jean type but these are right up my alley. They’re stitched at the bottom to keep them neat and prevent them from getting ragged looking. I’m wearing a 6 regular because I wanted to have the extra length. I love these braided espadrilles. They’re comfy enough to wear all day because the criss-cross top keeps them securely on my feet…without needing to grip my toes:)

It’s hard to go wrong with a classic linen blazer for summer and this one is just beautiful. Linen is one of my favorite fabrics for hot weather. This single button styling makes it a blazer to reach for year after year. I opted for the 10 petite rather than the 6 regular because I love this shorter length. The more leg I show, the taller I look. And how’s this little scarf for when you can’t get to your stylist:)

Talbots has an entire linen shop here.

These pieces are fun to mix and match to give you very different looks. The little neckerchief is small and surprisingly versatile. It would also look great tied on the handle of your handbag.

Remember, Talbots Friends and Family sale ends today so pop over to their site and stock on some great summer classics!

A big thank you to Talbots for partnering on this post, and you, my readers for supporting the brands that support A Well Styled Life.

You certainly have a special joy and smile for your grandson. I understand.

Jennifer, you’ll love this – I repurposed your technique! I’ve seen this technique before but haven’t needed to hem jeans. However, I just moved and need a custom-length shower curtain. I’ve been debating whether to hem the curtain and lose the bottom of the print, or do the “right thing” and take fabric from the top, requiring I make 10 new buttonholes for the hooks…a laborious task. Instead, I used your jean hemming technique at the top to retain the original buttonholes! I edgestitched so the flap would stay down below the buttonholes. Two seams, done! It looks great! This would also be great for curtains with grommets.

    Love all your outfits today

  4. Darn – I’ve been trying to order several shirts and the tee that you recommended, but I keep getting an “error” response. It says that they are super busy. That’s super for Talbots! I’ll continue trying and hope to get through. You look great in everything! Hmm…..maybe I should order that white blazer as well with it being half off!

  5. Love, love, love the pink shoes!

  6. Now that’s a great capsule for the weekend and every look is different enough. I copied the url but I couldn’t copy the last two pics. The first one copied fine. I keep a fashion journal and add looks I want to try. I love denim so these are perfect outfits. You look great in every one.

  7. I bought the denim patch pocket shirt last week. It’s very nice and not stiff at all. Very cute look today, Jennifer!

  8. It is really hard o find good whit tee s on your recommendation I just ordered two plus the scarf. I really enjoyed our post and to see your smile to have your grandson there.

Jennifer, I have been following you for several years… love your advice and sharing about fashion, family and travels. But, itā€™s hard for me to read about gatherings with family who donā€™t live with you. Cooking, sharing games etc. the virus is very real and this makes it seem like all is ok, when it isnā€™t. I likely will get negative responses but I had to say what was on my mind.

    1. Of course, things are sad and in an uproar with sadness and health worries everywhere, Elaine. We can read about the worries many paces so rather than commiserate, I would rather focus on the positive. I’m sorry this bothers you.

  10. retro-roost says:

The pink is really an amazing color for you. The addition of the little scarf – wow.
I just purchased it along with the espadrilles. *Thank you* for the inspiration.

  11. Your smile says it all. You look casual, relaxed and and just right in my opinion. Love Talbots and might have to get those pink shoes.

    1. My grandson always puts a huge smile on my face. These come in tons of colors and cute patterns too!

  12. You looked gteat in these clothes!
However, what I love about your blog, in a sea
of blogs, is your warmth and authenticity.
It is not all about you. It is so refreshing.
You really try to appeal to your readers and meet their needs. And you do!

  13. Iā€™m glad you had such a wonderful weekend with family! You look wonderfully chic in every one of those outfits. Iā€™m sorry I didnā€™t take a closer look at Talbots when I had one available. Love your hair smoothed back with that cute little scarf! I may try that look myself as the hot and humid days of summer in the South are coming soon.

  14. Love all the classic styles. Wish we still had a Talbot’s here. Your Grandson didva great job!

  15. Linen, tencel, soft cotton, all great fabrics for summer comfort! So often I think of the need for confidence in my personal style and you nailed it for me today. Mixing the white linen and denim is so versatile when you can add color with different tops and accessories. The super cute neckerchief is perfect to pop on for that bit of color near the face. All the pieces you showed today are great wardrobe investments and make it very simple to quickly choose your look for the day.
Hereā€™s to a great week ladies!

    1. I’m glad Jan. For me, confidence in personal style is everything!

  16. Debbie Bell says:

I love Talbots products as well. As a Canadian, however, many store locations have closed ( London Ont for example) and shipping is a huge cost to the customer, so Iā€™m out unfortunately.

    1. I’m sorry to hear about them closing. Hopefully, things will turn around soon.

  17. Linda Gaertner says:

I have been a Talbots shopper for more than 20 years. I too like that classic style that I can wear over and over. That being said I would buy all the pieces.

  18. You are so right about good quality tees. I have a black V neck one from Talbots that I actually wear to work with a skirt because the quality and fit is so good. I think itā€™s time to refresh with white and perhaps a pop of color!

    1. One of my most treasured photographs of my late mother is one of her, my sister and I attending a Mother’s Day lunch. My mother (aged 85 at the time) wore a pale pink, quilted jacket from Talbots (which my sister had sent from America). She styled it with a Talbots silk scarf which complemented her silver hair beautifully. You also look great – especially the outfit with the white jacket and those cute pink espadrilles.

      1. But of course, look much younger than my 85 year old mother.

    2. Sorry Gloria, This was meant as a separate post. I am getting so many pop ups on my IPAD these days, it is difficult to write replies.

    3. I believe it! The knit is fine and smooth so it can dress up easily.

  19. Paulette Levy says:

I too love denim and use little scarves (or longer ones as belts) to add pops of color to my denim whether blue denim or white. Love denim!
You look adorable and really like your use of little scarves whether at the neck or in your hair as a headband.
