Gearing Up To Get Fit With Zella

I’ve made a new commitment to myself to get more serious about my bone health so I’m lifting some light weights, using resistance bands, and dragging myself going out for a long walk every morning. My old gear was just depressing so I’ve updated it and am gearing up to get fit with Zella.

This post is sponsored by Nordstrom and ShopStyle.

I’ve been a fan of Nordstrom House brands for as long as I remember and adding them to my wardrobe long before I knew they were made by Nordstrom. I’m excited to collaborate with them again, this time, with their athletic wear. Public access to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts today!

I like to look polished and pulled together no matter what my day has in store. So with my new commitment to getting in better shape, I decided it was high time to upgrade my activewear and Zella was the perfect place to start. The activewear department has taken over a huge section in my store so I’m not alone in my goal to increase my fitness activities.

The first “heck yeah”, this is coming home with me was these breezy wide-leg pants which I’ve worn around town with a cute top and sandals because they’re adorable and so comfy. I’ll get some pictures soon.

This jacket is very thin, lightweight, and roomy. It has elastic at the wrists and a bungee cord adjustment at the back waist so you can snug it in for a more body-conscious fit. It’s sized from 00-16W, I am wearing a small, which is plenty roomy.

What’s also cool about this jacket is that it’s so lightweight you can stuff the entire thing into the small pocket into the back and stow it in your bag or just hang it from the loop.

For a walk/light jog around the seawall last weekend I wore these flattering joggers and the twist front top. The twist front top comes in 4 colors size XXS-14W. I think it runs large so I went down to an XS.Ā  I’m a big fan of tops that have some shaping and this little twist front is perfect. The joggers are in a woven fabric that breathes so you don’t overheat. They come in 4 colors sizedĀ  XS-16W and have a nice high rise.

The joggers have a stitched front seam and side panels that slim the look of your leg. The side pockets are a huge hit for me plus they have a hidden inside pocket for you to store your house key, card, or some cash when dashing about.

These Zella joggers are on sale (plus size here) and virtually identical so I ordered them in the Navy:)

Here’s more Zella that caught my eye… many of which are marked down for the Anniversary Sale. If the site says they are sold out, be sure to check for your size because many are still available!

This Cozy Wrap Jacket is sold out in my size (plus size here) in the Ivory Dove so I will be haunting the site, hoping to snag it if they restock…I will keep you posted. It is really amazing in person.

I am in love with these sneakers! They have a knit top that gives where I need it to, especially over my bunion so it doesn’t put pressure on it. They also feel cooler than a leather sneaker and are super flexible. They have a removable cushioned insole so you can add your own custom orthotics and they have a rounded heel that’s designed specifically for the shape of a woman’s foot. Their special foam sole bounces and absorbs shock so they’re a delight to wear.

In April, Nordstrom added a new brand to their lineup called, Open Edit which has apparel, shoes, jewelry, and accessories for women, men, and kids in sizes XXS-3X. The first collection is focused on sustainability in organic cotton and recycled fabrics in trend-forward shapes…so keep your eye out for them, I am. I’ve already ordered this pullover in Beige Oatmeal and have my eye on some others here:

As always, Nordstrom’s customer service can’t be beaten. They have free shipping and returns, always, which is a big deal to me. You can earn points and rewards by joining the Nordy club (sign up free here) which helps you qualify for early access to the Anniversary Sale, plus you earn notes to spend on future purchases. They have free alterations, curbside pickup, beauty and style workshops.

You can also apply for a Nordstrom credit card here, and earn 2 points for every net dollar you spend at Nordstrom. I have a Nordstrom Visa card which earns me enough points to treat myself to something special every year. If you sign up now, you can go a long way to getting early access for next year.

Have you upgraded your athletic wear lately?

Thanks for reading ladies and remember to wear what makes you feel confident.

  1. Good for you – I am good with the morning walks, but have to start the weights more consistently…last Dexa Scan made me realize I need to get serious. Just got new leggings with a pocket for my phone…and some new walking sports shirts and tops that are cool. Good luck and keep it up !

    1. Our bones need all the help we can give them! I need another scan to see how my osteopenia is doing. Thanks for reminding me

Jennifer, that Zelle light weight jacket is adorable and you wear it well. WoW!!!! the weight loss/fit toning program you are on has you looking trim and fit.

I need to order this jacket as the colors are right up my alley.

I hope you are enjoying time with your daughter in BC. I’ve always enjoyed my visits up there and the scenery is gorgeous and I always feel calmer when visiting. Miss living on the West Coast and especially ski trip to Whistler. Gas Town is one of my favorite areas in BC as is Victoria Island. Is the crab sculpture still up at the Space Center? One of my more memorable trips there included visiting the Center and waling around and enjoying the gardens at Queen Elizabeth Park. The natural aquarium in Stanley Park was my first experience with the captive whales and had one that followed me around throughout the park. Happy they were released back into the wild.

    1. Iā€™m glad they were released too! I hate to see animals in captivity. Iā€™ve never been one to enjoy zoos or aquariums. We havenā€™t been to the space center yet so Iā€™m not sure.

Like the jacket but not the joggers.

Today I treated myself to some tights(?) love them – white/black pattern on one side and solid back on the other side. Great for doing stretching exercises in.*

*Found a lovely women’s clothing store (Uncommon Thredz) in Mission – east of Vancouver a few years ago. Lots of stylish clothing in the store – owner has excellent taste.

    1. Thanks! Iā€™ll see if itā€™s still here.

Ahhr the sea wall walk !! Such a beautiful city l so miss it. My daily hike was walking around Stanley Park and watching the tankers out at sea. You look so fit Jennifer congrats ! I will buy those joggers, just what l need for FWTWL šŸ™‚ Have a lovely break.

    1. Iā€™m loving the sea wall but have yet to get to Stanley Park. Hopefully this weekend.

  5. Sometimes the color is not exactly the same as the pictures I donā€™t care where you order from. But Iā€™m rarely disappointed enough to send things back because of color. Sometimes you get a happy surprise and like it better. I love these casual outfits.

  6. Jennifer, are you still doing the Faster Way program? You mentioned it once but not recently. I signed up at one time and found the terms confusing. Never had the discipline to figure it out. Thanks for the Zella recommendations. Is the line similar to Chicoā€™s Zenergy?

Thanks for your new video chat as well!

    1. Yes I am! Thatā€™s motivating me to work out too!

  7. Loved your tongue in cheek, dragging myself/going for a walk šŸ˜œ

  8. Just wondering which menā€™s jogger would be comparable to the womenā€™s one that you are modeling? I love them but just know that they will be too short. Iā€™m thinking that a menā€™s size might be just right. Iā€™m 5ā€™9ā€.

  9. Thanks, Jennifer. I just ordered the Zella joggers!
    You’re always an inspiration.

    1. You will love them. They’re cute too.

  10. I love Zella too! I’ve had issues with bunions and I love the mesh sneakers. We walk every day and they are much cooler. You look great in your workout outfit. Good luck!

    1. Mesh sneakers are ingenious! The best thing to happen to my feet in a long time.

  11. Love the jacket. I will check it out on line. No Nordstrom in my area. Only Macyā€™s, Chicoā€™s, Kohlā€™s and JCPā€™s.
However we have Walmart on line which can get anything you want under the sun, usually with free shipping. Almost as good as Amazon and sometimes less. šŸ¤©

  12. I love the outfit and will look at Zella next time I shop for workout clothes. It is much too hot in the south for outside so we use the gym and pool exercise classes, it is essential as you age to stay healthy.

  13. You fit right in with Vancouver casual style in that outfit.
Buying new workout clothes is always good motivation. Love the jacket, but sadly can’t find it on the Canadian Nordstrom site.

    1. There is less selection for sure, sorry. For reference, the Nordstrom here in Vancouver has much more selection than the one near my home.

  14. Right there with you on trying to exercise more. The jacket is cute; I love the colors in it! Would you say the lavender blue background it shows in your photos is closer to the actual color than the photos on Nordstrom? Thanks Jennifer.

    1. I just checked and I would say it’s smack dab in the middle. My background is not pure white at all, but my photos do appear more lavender than in person.

      1. That definitely helps, thanks.

  15. Iā€™ve been a fan of Zella since starting Pure Barre classes 6 years ago. Everything Iā€™ve bought has held up very well with hanging them up to dry. Love this brand!

    1. I would love to try some Barre classes. I do an occasional ballet warm up at home but a Barre class would be much more intense.

  16. Good for you, Jennifer! Itā€™s easy to put off exercise.
Zella is great for activewear. I occasionally venture off to more expensive brands, but find I donā€™t get more in style or durability. Activewear is laundered so often, but Zella holds up.
I was on a road trip with girlfriends so missed your blog for a few days. Wish I read your road trip post before I left. Hope you enjoyed your visit with your daughter.

    1. Thanks, Susan. I am having such a good time with her.
