Getting Ready for Fall

Getting Ready for Fall

Happy Friday ladies. We’re almost to the middle of July which means fall clothes will be hitting the shelves sooner than you think. The first big wave is the Nordstrom anniversary sale which is open for early access today. Unless you never shop, you know this is different from other sales which include older merchandise. Nsale is a pre-season sale on new merchandise for fall, which will go back to full price after the sale.

Either Murphy’s Law is at play or I’m a very bad planner because I’ve been away on holiday for the last three years during this sale. That doesn’t stop me from shopping it but I can’t go into the store to show you what else is there.

I always buy at the Nordstrom sale. I stock up on things that have served me well over the years and need refreshing in my wardrobe. I focus on basics first, then see what’s new and on-trend at an affordable price.

Here are some tips to help you prepare for the sale.

Take stock of what’s in your wardrobe now. This is the smartest way to not overbuy.

Think about what you wore and loved so much last fall that you wore it out. Was it a pair of short booties that you reach for again and again? Look for a similar pair to replace them that has a more current vibe. I got a gray pair last year that I wore to death so I will be looking for two new pairs.

Are you a cashmere lover? Nordstrom always has great values on their Halogen brand of cashmere. I’ve found some great pieces there for several years in a row. The weights vary so check for ones that work for your climate. I usually go for tissue weight cashmere because I live in California. My first stop is their open front dusters and I move on from there.

Animal prints take center stage in many women’s wardrobes and this sale always has lots of options in both warm and cool tones.

Beauty products and devices are always featured in this sale so it’s a good time to stock up on favorites. Is there an at-home beauty device you’ve been curious to try? I am a huge fan of these. They’re often marked way down during this sale and can be a great value. This sale always includes free samples,  gifts with purchase and beauty exclusives.

My favorite sneakers are on sale so I may add a new color to my collection.

Don’t panic if you’re not entitled to early access. This sale is open to the public July 19th – August 4. Nordstrom always holds back some things to release that day and things do get restocked.

I’ll share what I order for myself and promise not to bombard you with sale updates.

Thanks for reading and have a great day.

I am heading to the store this morning. I go every year but it’s not as much fun since they put everything by brands now. I always just headed to petites. This makes it harder to shop I think.

I agree, it feels like “stores within a store”. Unless I need something very specific, I end up overwhelmed and leaving to shop online.

I agree! I miss the petite department. I can’t imagine why they thought this would make shopping easier for us.

I have never been to this sale but I’ll be watching it online for sure. I’ve lost some weight since last year so I have some needs!

I almost screamed at the “F” word but calmed down and read your post. Thanks for the tips! I think the cashmere is what I will invest in.

I always find several cashmere pieces during this sale and you can’t beat the price.

I hate the way Perites are displayed now!

Heavens! I can’t even begin to think about fall when we’ve had virtually no summer yet! On the other hand, perhaps I should since I’ve seriously considered digging back into my fall/winter wardrobe more than once as it might be more appropriate to the weather we’ve been having than my summer one is.
