Eight Days Of Giving: A Gift Guide for the Men in Your Life

Today, I’m starting a series called the Eight Days of Giving. Each day I’ll bring you a specialized gift guide with ideas for someone on your list. The first guide is for the men in your life because I always struggle with this one. My husband never wants anything and my son doesn’t need anything. I’ve been on the lookout for some staples for my husband and son, that I know they’ll love (and my husband won’t return!).

Starting with the classic crew neck cashmere sweater from Everlane. It’s no secret I love the quality of Everlane sweaters, and they make some great options for the men in your life.

I have my eye on the crew neck in loden Donegal and dark charcoal. They’re soft, durable, and made to last. The instructions say dry clean but I never do. I hand wash, hang dry and press with my steam iron.

For a cozy weekend around the house, I like these moccasin-style ugg slippers. Perfect for a Sunday relaxing with a cup of coffee, and something the men in your life are unlikely to buy themselves. I bought my husband a pair last Christmas and he loves them.

We love listening to music around the house, and this Bluetooth speaker is super simple to move around or bring with us on weekend getaways or adventures in our trailer. It takes just a few clicks to set up and the sound is really good!

I really like a nice down vest for our climate – when it’s not quite cold enough for a full down jacket. This vest from Northface is great looking and will keep your guy warm on a casual day. Its also versatile, and I think it would look nice over a tee, sweater, or polo.

We’re trying to reduce the plastic and paper we use at home, and I’m on the lookout for ways to help keep us eco-friendly. This mug from Yeti has a high rating on Amazon and can keep your guy’s coffee warm when he’s on the go.

My husband loves his fit bit watch, he uses it to track his daily lap swims. The kids have set up a family step challenge with him to keep our activity level up! This one was easy to use and has a nice aesthetic.

We absolutely love to play Five Crowns as a family, and it’s one of my husband’s favorite games. We have so many fond memories playing on our road trip around Iceland in a camper van.

What do you have your eye out for the men in your life this holiday season? Let me know, I would be happy to share more ideas.

Thanks for reading and be sure to wear what makes you feel confident.

Another really fun family game is Telestrations. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard playing a game!

I got little travel kits of metal cutlery with metal straws and chop sticks for my son and hubby this year. They come in different colours (I got one black set and one blue set) and have a zippered traveling pack to keep them in. Since the days of plastic cutlery at fast food restuarants are fast coming to an end, this will be our go to option in the future (I naturally had to buy a set for myself in rose)!

What a great idea! I hate plastic cutlery. Rose gold sounds right up my alley too. I’ll check out that game. We love to play all games.

Thanks for the tips Jennifer. I also have a struggle with buying for my husband? He always says that he does not want anything. I always manage to come up with something. My adult son always says not to buy him clothes. We usually now buy him a special tool that he has been wanting. Why is it that I can think of many items I want for Christmas!

So agree Jennifer that coming up with gift ideas for men can be a challenge. That said; I think the most difficult to buy for is my husband … lol! Whereas for sons and SILs in the past and to name a few things; I have purchased vintage wines ( as one takes his collection seriously), for another the enrollment in a gourmet cooking workshop (as enjoys cooking), to a instructional session with a Pro golfer (as has a passion for the sport) etc. -Brenda-

P.S.: As to the travel mug; last year for ‘the gift from the elves’ everyone (children included) received ‘Zojirushi’ Stainless Steel Mugs that come in three sizes (and a multitude of colors) which has received praises from those they were given to. As they are more like a thermos/water bottle in design shall also mention they fit into the majority of car caddies or backpack pockets; plus I purchased soft grip straps ( handles) by ‘Magedon’ to go with them that worked out well.

Those are great ideas! I’ll look into those mugs because I hate ones that fall over in the car.

I, too, struggle with buying “man gifts.” Thanks for these suggestions.

That looks like a terrifc sweater!

Great ideas! I also buy books from favourite authors or on topics he loves e.g. music, birds. We still do stockings so that is for fun novelty items and treats.
