Happy Prints In Wardrobe Essentials For Spring

Lightweight jackets for spring are a must-have in most women’s wardrobes. Having them in happy colors and prints can really perk up your spirits on gray days. Today I’ve got some affordable and fun pieces from Kohl’s to get you through the March winds and April showers in style.

CROFT AND BARROW ESSENTIAL STRETCH SHIRT size M / NINE WEST SLIMMING JEANS size 8 /

This cotton/spandex blend shirt comes in seven colors/prints in sizes XS-XXL. I’m wearing a medium in their navy check. It’s a relaxed fit, so roomy and easy to wear out or tucked in. The polka dot and striped options are especially cheery for spring. This shirt has long sleeves you can fold up and secure with a button tab for a 3/4 length.

CROFT AND BARROW ESSENTIAL STRETCH SHIRT size M

This little shirt is beautifully made. The lines on the plaid are matched perfectly up the front and along the side seams which is an indication of the attention to detail this brand puts into its garments. For a $25.49 shirt, that’s pretty impressive! The cotton feels soft and crisp, making it a great casual essential for your spring wardrobe.

I’m wearing it with these Nine West slimming straight-leg jeans that come in 5 washes with a short, average, and tall inseam. This is the medium-dark wash. I accidentally ordered the tall with a 28″ inseam, so I had to fold the bottom under and will have to exchange them for the average length. The fabric is a substantial denim on the stiffer side and has some added stretch built in.

DRAPER JAMES RSVP PRINTED RAIN JACKET size M

No spring wardrobe would be functional without a hooded rain slicker. This Draper James RSVP rain jacket ticks all the boxes. It’s a waterproof seasonal essential with a handy hood to keep your head dry and front pockets with snap closure. The classic stripe is fresh-looking and fun, dotted with pretty blue flowers.

LEVIS BOYFRIEND JEANS size 6 /

These Levis Boyfriend jeans solve my inseam issue by having a soft rolled cuff that I can adjust. The boyfriend cut is super popular this season and just means they’re a bit roomier with a looser fit that’s more forgiving. These jeans come in seven colors in sizes 4-18. The fabric feels lightweight and is a cotton/polyester/elastane blend with enough stretch to be really comfy. They’re also a very slightly lower rise which can be helpful for petite ladies or gals with shorter torsos.

I’m a big fan of the comfort of Dr. Scholl’s footwear and am apparently not alone because these sneakers sold out in a flash in white but are still available in several colors. These Dr. Scholl’s have a similar arch with a two-tone top, and these ones look similar in white. Comfort sneakers are certainly having a moment, and platform sneakers are everywhere for spring. Kohl’s has lots of options for comfortable sneakers are great prices.

  1. Where did you find those cherry blossoms? They were perfect with the pink coat!

    1. We just drive around till we found some. I thought theyā€™d be pretty with the coat.

  2. Those are all really cute outfits on you! Thank you so very much for this post that offers some clothing at reasonable prices! I have been a fan of the Croft and Barrow button down shirts at Kohls for a long time. They are very good quality shirts (Cotton/polyester blend) and reasonably priced compared to other brands.

I just love the Printed Rain jacket. We are heading into the rain season starting in mid May or so here in SE Coastal Florida. This jacket looks lightweight and the pattern and colors reflect happiness; which I need right now. Do you think the weight is appropriate for 80+ degree, rainy and otherwise stormy weather? So need a refresher color from my drab beige (and amost worn out) andorandicks. Kohls locally doesn’t carry this particular jacket so need some direction Jennifer. All the pics are awesome and the checkered jacket looks great on you.

    1. Katelyn K says:

PS: Jennifer, the medium looks as though it is 2 sizes too large for you. Is this the photo or do you find it too roomy and need to size down? I am usually a medium but at times can wear small or xs depending on fit. I’d be wearing this with T-shirt weight tops.

      1. I could have gone down one size, perhaps, but certainly not two.

    2. For 80+ weather, I would look for a thin shell type rainjacket. This is heavier than that.

  4. Lois Williams says:

Never been to Kohlā€™s and if a 28ā€ inseam is considered tall I guess I wonā€™t try! However, I love the pink checked coat ā€” I have to remind myself that sleeves would be too short! We all women have more shopping issues than any other body type and end up spending much more money than our shorter sisters.

  5. Cindy Flaherty says:

I ever wear pink but that buffalo check coat is so cute! Can wait to receive it!

  6. I shop at Kohls in waves. Is the pink print blouse Draper James?

    1. Sadly, it sold out in a flash

  7. I have never been a fan of Kohl’s. Their sizing is just a bit off (for me) and the styles tend to be, I don’t know, too preppy? That pink check coat is cute, but I’ll pass on the rest of it.

  8. Elizabeth A says:

Kohls is often overlooked. Kohls offers a lot of clothes in petite – in store (3 near where I live have great selections) and even more options online. I may need to look into the boyfriend jeans. šŸ‘–

  9. So glad you are spotlighting Kohls. Great variety and value. I love their Sonoma denimā€”great fit and quality denim for about half the price of other retailers.

    1. So good to know, thanks for sharing the brand.

  10. Melinda Beckett says:

Love your colorful jackets and coats. I especially like you in the pink & white check. I returned to Kohlā€™s during Christmas and ended up doing most of my shopping there. Bright displays, helpful clerks and hard to beat prices. Will return soon.

    1. It’s a fabulous place to shop and get great deals!

  11. Thank you for checking out Kohls. I have gotten into shopping there since one is really close to home. Very cute outfits!

  12. Love the pink coat, I just want it!! Also the window pane shirt…I’ll have to check out Kohl’s…not my normal store to shop. But there are always gems in every store , which makes shopping so much fun. I might just unearth the white jeans today, since there is a lull in the rain….I had a similar coat from Cabi, and I gave it away last year……looking at your wonderful posts, I’m remembering what clothes I had, and gave away…maybe I need a ‘think about it pile’ . Hopefully someone in need benefited from my closet purge…….well I’m going online to Kohl’s …..Happy St Patrick’s Day

    1. My “think about it pile” is very helpful, and I highly recommend it šŸ™‚ Happy St Patrick’s Day, Nancy

  13. The beautiful floral prints on the rain jackets, and the beautiful light weight shirts and Nine West jeans are great. Kohlā€™s is one of my ā€œgo toā€ stores. They have great deals and Kohlā€™s cash and coupons too.
    Can not go wrong.

    1. Agreed! Kohl’s cash is a fabulous bonus too!

  14. Today”s Post was Excellent ! All of your choices looked great on you . Your hair looks so cute, just a little longer in length.
I have such good luck with nine west jeans. They do soften with washings and never stretch out of shape. I have a long torso and shorter legs for being 5’6”. I have several pairs of those exact jeans. They were out of stock for awhile. glad to see they are back.

  15. We have a really nice Kohl’s here and they actually have a petite section. Those spring jackets are so cute! I really like all the tennis shoes too. The pink plaid coat looks so great on you.

  16. Catherine says:

FYI itā€™s Draper James, not Draper AND James. (I believe they are the middle names of Reese Witherspoonā€™s children, who designed this line.). That plaid pink coat is to die for. šŸ˜

  17. I just returned from a very successful visit to my local Kohls. The spring collections, especially Vera Wang, are really cute. Our store is clean, neat and friendly. Unfortunately, some stores are not which is too bad. If yours is not, ,complain to management. Being from Wisconsin, home to Kohls, Iā€™m supporter!

    1. I always shop Kohlā€™s online. I get the best selection!

      1. Me too as the store is 50 miles away up in Colorado Springs. I love the store, just hard to get to for me. I actually shop everything online. The pink plaid coat is lovely on you.

  18. Once again falling hard for an outfit that will not ship to Canada. That pink coat is delightful. I do have to go across the border for 2 days later this month, so perhaps will have to squeeze in a bit of shopping. It is good to hear that a few more brands are making tall jeans available.

    1. I hope youā€™ll be able to get in to a Kohlā€™s. Theyā€™re things are so cute

  19. Thank you for the post I need a new rain slicker and I can order from them and returns if needed are close by.

    1. I love that you can easily return to the store!

  20. My goodness; one certainly can’t go wrong with Kohl’s pricing even considering the Cdn./USA exchange rate but sadly they don’t ship internationally. Do appreciate though you modeling what you did and will have to scout out a pair of the Levis Boyfriend jeans. Also have been wanting to mention Jennifer, you hair is looking amazing!

Tip: For those who wear long sleeves and wish to ruch (rather than fold) them up; clear resin spiral hair scrunchies work well for most fabric weights and are far more comfortable on the arms than conventional ponytail elastics.

  21. I do a lot of shopping at Kohls. I find their Sonoma brand jeans fit me the best. The fact that you can become a rewards member gives you a lot of savings opportunities. I also found out that they do a senior discount at my local store which I believe is on Wednesdays. Thats nice since most stores don’t do any mid-week specials. Love all those blues you were wearing, very pretty. Also the pick coat is very pretty for spring. Thanks for presenting this Kohls blog today!

  22. Nice styles nice colours I havenā€™t worn Levi for years but will take a look Tx

  23. Pat Patterson says:

    Good morning Jennifer
Very nice looks today, I normally donā€™t shop in kohls but I will make a stop there this weekend.
    Have a great day

  24. I’m over the moon with your choices of colorful lightweight coats & complimentary blouses & slacks. You hit every possible high point a casual outfit should be, but not only that, with a pair of cream or pink heels, that pink checked coat outfit would go to any Spring holiday event. So impressed with your choices! I’d wear it all!!

    1. Iā€™m so glad you like it! Theyā€™re sure cheery and fun.
