How to Combine Velvets
When I was asked to collaborate with Lord & Taylor, I jumped at the chance. Even though my closest brick and mortar Lord & Taylor is over 1,800 miles away, I shop there often. They always have terrific promotions and blend the classics with on-trend items for a complete shopping destination. This is a sponsored post in collaboration with Lord & Taylor and Shop Style.
We have a holiday party next week plus a New Years Eve Party invite and I’ll be wearing this outfit, exactly as you see it. Later, everything will be restyled and worn all winter long.
I paired it with this lycra faux suede skirt that simply pulls on. No zippers or snaps to leave a bump and lots of stretch for comfort. It’s a below the knee length, but with ankle boots, I needed it shorter so simply rolled the waistband over. I’ll wear it unrolled with flat riding boots or ballet flats and a casual sweater.

For some sparkle, I added this Crystal Statement Necklace and Mismatched Drop Earrings which are also by Design Lab Lord & Taylor. The earrings have a moon in one earring and a sun on the other. They’re super lightweight and feel very modern to me. I also picture them with a cashmere sweater or classic white shirt.
I topped the outfit off with this Round Velvet Crossbody Bag which will keep my hands free during parties. I adore the round shape!
This is my first time wearing Design Lab Lord & Taylor, but it certainly won’t be my last. The styles are fabulous and the prices can’t be beaten! Lord & Taylor is one of the best-priced secrets for fashion and a great destination everyone’s holiday shopping.

Love, love, this look….until I looked down at your legs and I thought “Girl you have got to get rid of the NUN LIKE panty hose”!! The photograph wasn’t clear enough on my PC monitor to reveal that few nuns would sport fishnets!!!
My bad!! Very cute look! I also had my doubts bout the booties until I read that they were velveteen (was thinking the heavier suede..) How ever very appropriate in the lighter material and give an even more Victorian vibe. Hudson’s Bay carries Lord & Taylor Design Lab I’ll have to look at it more closely!

Fishnets have been my favorite for awhile. And I know you live where it’s warmer, but in my part of the country, I end up layering them over a nude pair of hose just to keep warm!!
