Styling Boyfriend Jeans

Styling Boyfriend Jeans

After 3 plus weeks on the road and umpteen meals out, my waistline is expanding at an uncomfortable rate. Snug fitting jeans are not my favorite these days so I was happy to test drive these boyfriend jeans. Purple Poppy sent these for me to try and the timing is just right.

These jeans are made in Jag’s Platinum Denim with a relaxed fit, classic 5 pocket styling and a very casual vibe. The outside seam is finished with a grosgrain ribbon to show when you roll the cuff. Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled life modeling Alex Boyfriend Jean by Jag

Since the jeans are full I kept things short and close to the body on top. A longer top would be too bulky and add unnecessary pounds. With only 3 days left to explore the lower island, we decided to drive up the west coast of Vancouver Island. We left civilization quickly and drove for miles without seeing a soul.

After miles of nothing but trees and coastline, we came across Shirley Delicious. Our sunny day had turned foggy and cool so a latte was definitely in order. The parking lot was empty when we arrived but by the time we got our coffee, there was a line out the door!

We continued north for another hour until we arrived at Port Renfrew. I’m not sure what we expected, but this wasn’t it. The clouds were low, the temperature had dropped and it felt very desolate.

It did, however, have a great little restaurant on the dock which served fish and chips. This felt like a score and another reason I was happy to be wearing comfortable jeans.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled life modeling Alex Boyfriend Jean by Jag

These boyfriend jeans are super comfy and perfect for casual days. I plan to style them with short booties this fall.

I really like this outfit, casual but pulled together. I’m looking for new sandals & I like the ones you’re wearing. But it looks like they’re only offered in medium, which doesn’t work for my wide width foot, Gotta keep looking!

These sandals are stretchy (rubber) but do run narrow.

You look great and very relaxed! I especially like the different blues you mixed, the scarf adds a lot to this outfit. What fun to have the time to explore! Safe travels.

Boyfriend jeans are all in the proportions–they call out for a tucked-in or short top or else everything is just too big. They can look casual or dressy depending on how you style them (and whether they’re ripped). I was surprised when, after a lunchtime gym class, one of the women who is a lawyer put on boyfriend jeans. But she also wore a silk blouse, heels and a trench, and looked very professional by the time she was all dressed.
I am enjoying your vacation photos. So lush and different from the dry sunshine in the south of France.

Thanks Lea! I do love them. I wouldn’t wear distressed or ripped ones, these are relaxed enough for me.

I agree, one of your very best looks..I’ve always felt ripped /distressed jeans were a definite no-no for me at 70.. now I’m wondering if I could get away with them,p’raps with a dressier top and statement earrings.. any thoughts ladies?

I’m going to chime in but please don’t jump all over me if anyone has a difference of opinion. I think ripped jeans are a fad only the young should wear and even then I don’t like them. I would class them with mini shirts and short, shorts. But, that’s me….

I’m not a fan of ripped jeans at any age Lee. I’ve never liked the look and like it less the longer it hangs around. I suppose it feels too “forced” to me and tries to achieve a level of “relaxed” that I never aspire too.
To each his own and many ladies like the look.

Hoping the ripped jeans fad ends soon. I agree they look awful on everyone.

Shirley Delishious….did you enjoy your meal? The owner Phil use to live on SaltSpring. The vibe, the music is so much fun. I hope he was there when you visited. He positively vibrates, and his energy is contagious. We try to visit a few times a year, when we need a real West Coast treat and sometimes go on to Port Renfrew. Did you venture down to the Botanical Beach? It is a great spot for watching sea life. The tide pools are fascinating.

We just had lattes and some baked good which were fabulous! We should have eaten there.

Just too jealous! Victoria, BC is one of my favorite places in the world. As east coasters, we don’t get there often enough. Your pictures made me long for another visit. After looking at your outfit this morning, I added a light-weight white jacket, a bright scarf and a straw hat to my neutral shorts and t-shirt and looked (and felt) a whole lot better

Where is Shirley Delicious? I live in Courtenay and have never heard of it, although I am a recent transplant.
I’ve never tried boyfriend jeans, preferring skinny or straight leg. Time I tried them. They are a great relaxed look and would be perfect on long car rides.
I must say you look rested and happy. A little vacation does wonders.

We were in Courtenay last week! Pretty spot. Shirley delicious is north of Sooke on the way to Port Renfrew. It seemed an out of the way spot but was hugely popular.

Love the pictures. Here in Arizona the temp is 110 to 117 for the next week. I would wear what you are wearing in the winter months here. Would love a few days in the 80s. Have a safe journey.

You look wonderful and it looks like a great trip. Boyfriend jeans are my “go to” in the summer, you can dress them up with pumps or down with flip flops and feel good about the look.

I love your posts Jennifer, you always look so relaxed in your clothes. I share your love of linen and if it creases so what, the Continentals always look so chic in crumpled linen, so why shouldn’t we ! And an added bonus, its so comfortable. Viv
