It’s Classic

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have plans to be with loved ones. I’ll be a guest several times this weekend but not a hostess. That’s a big switch for us. Gone are the days when we hosted 14-20 people for holiday meals which feels bittersweet, but right. Our family has spread out so visiting is the name of the game now.

Many holiday parties will find me wearing classic shapes and neutral colors. I love pouring on the attitude with fun accessories but I also like to let my classics tell a simple story. Today’s look is ageless and simple.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled life wearing classics

Classics are the backbone of my wardrobe, and I suspect the same is true for many women. They are the neutral basics that always look appropriate and allow our more creative pieces to stand out.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life wearing Everlane cashmereMy classics may differ from yours but they’re basically garments in timeless shapes and fine fabrics that will stand the test of time.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life wearing Adrian Allen shoes

They’re the pieces I reach for over and over and style in myriad ways. Today, I added simple earrings and a vintage necklace in my favorite color. Tomorrow I could add faux fur, stacks of bracelets and a statement hat.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life wearing Everlane cashmere

I’m a huge fan of V-neck cashmere pullovers for easy, luxe dressing that is versatile and comfortable. Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life wearing Eileen Fisher Crepe knit pants

  1. Love the sweater and the price point. Am wondering what size you have? I just ordered a medium. I’m 5ft 3inches 135 lbs.

  2. Hi Jennifer…love your style and your blog. And I love those shoes you are wearing today !Any good tips for plus size shapes?
    Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

    1. Hi Susan, thank you! I believe we should wear what we love. My best advice for plus size dressing is to buy what fits you properly. Don’t shy away from alterations because they are the friend of ALL women. Depending on your silhouette, try to keep garments from stopping at your widest spot. Jackets and tops need to bypass those areas. Wearing one color head to toe (column dressing) with an outer garment, (sweater, jacket or duster) in a different color is slimming and elongates your look. I do this a lot.

  3. I love my cashmere sweaters. I can’t wear wool, as it itches me, but cashmere I can do. I’ve never tried Everlane but like I their clothes and shoes. If they had free shipping and returns to Canada, I’m sure I would become a regular customer.
Loving your patent leather purse with the silver hardware!
    Have a happy Thanksgiving Jennifer!

    1. Thanks Joanna! I’m sorry they don’t offer free shipping to Canada! That is short sighted of them. Their clothes are very nice quality at great prices.

    2. Joanna, Everlane had a pop-up shop in Nordstrom Eaton Center in Toronto 2 weeks ago… I don’t know where you live but that could be something to ask about for future reference.

  4. Happy Thanksgiving, Jennifer! I love those Eileen Fisher pants…very comfortable. I now have them in black, brown, and navy. Always in season too! Well, thanks for the break…now back to the kitchen…11 for dinner today. Fun times!

  5. You look very nice! This is my kind of outfit, though I’d probably wear Ferragamo flats and a lovely Indian pearl pendant that I inherited from my mother. Also, I love black sunglasses—both classic and elegant, I always think.
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  6. I love the shoes but can’t find the peep-toe on the website. I see the ‘Sara’ but only in a closed toe.
    I love the whole look!

  7. Thanks for inserting a less expensive option on the slacks! The affordable everlane cashmere must have withstood the test of time for cleaning? Thanks!

    1. My bag is very old. It was a gift from a girl friend. It’s by Marc Jacobs. Classic black patent leather satchels are my favorite! They always look crisp

  8. Love the sweater! I’m allergic to wool and I know you have sensitive skin, too. Does it itch? What size are you wearing?

    1. I’m wearing a medium. I also like the large on me, just slouchier. It’s so thin and fine, it’s not itchy to me. They also get softer the more I wash them. Hand wash, lay flat then steam smooth.

  9. The red lipstick is sooo working for you! It really pops ( in a good way:) and looks glam too.
Happy Thanksgiving, enjoy being a guest.
