Look of the Week: A-Line Tops

Look of the Week: A-Line Tops

Do you have a straight or uncurvy figure? Well, I do, and I adore when clothes give me the illusion of a curvy shape.

You know I’m a big fan of Soft Surroundings clothes. They fit my body and lifestyle, with an emphasis on comfort. Their company is dedicated to making us look and feel our best. I’d like to introduce you to their blog, Soft Spoken. I’m excited to have been chosen as a Guest Blogger! You can read my post here.

This Perfect A-line top from Soft Surroundings is incredibly soft; I love its fit-and-flare shape. A-lines in stiff or woven fabric add pounds to my appearance, but since this fabric is flowy, it gently drapes and camouflages my tummy.

It gives the appearance of an hourglass shape to my straight silhouette. I’m always trying to add curves where they’re not.

I love the inset panels that add dimension and flare. It’s 3/4 sleeves are another favorite feature which helps me appear taller.

Soft Surroundings A-line top

I love that this top dips longer in back to cover my backside, allowing me to wear it with close fitting leggings. I’m not a fan of having the crotch area of leggings show, so look for long tops to cover it.

One simple necklace and I’m ready for a casual day which included a short walk for my dog, Lucy. At 12 1/2 my sweet girl isn’t up for strenuous walks, so I can get away with wearing cheap and cute canvas sneakers!

LOL. My little dog really meanders and sniffs! Very little walking 🙂

Love this outfit – it’s very cute and something I’d like. In case you’re interested, Skechers has lots of comfortable sneakers and they look great with casual outfits. I love GoWalks (have 4 pairs) and Bikers Dreams Come True in white. They’re lightweight, fit my feet perfectly, and give me great support.

I’ve heard a lot of great things about the GoWalks! They sound perfect. Finding comfortable shoes is a dream these days. Thanks!

Love the outfit! I love 3/4 sleeves. Where did you get the leggings?

The leggings are from a company called, Babette. I’ve had them a while!

You look soo cute in this outfit. I love you in hats and would love to try that look but I live in a small community and no one wears hats…. shoot.

I have been a faithful follower for some time now and noticed your lipstick. Do mind telling the type of lipstick and color you wear. You look really good in it and I was curious maybe I could try it.

Hats attract attention. No question about that, Lu Ann! If you want to wear one, DO. You’ll become the lady who wears the chic hats!
I love and have worn Jane Iredale Lip Fixation in “Fascination” for years!

I like tunics. I’m 5’5″ and they work well with leggings/yoga pants. I’m not a fan of 3/4 sleeves. They “bug” me. I’ll take your looks and try to find outfits at stores that are more affordable. Soft Surroundings has lovely clothes, but $75 for a tunic is outrageous.
Congrats on being asked to be a guest blogger. I can’t imagine the time you spend on your business between writing, photos, and networking. Good for you!

Thanks so much! I do spend a lot of time on my business. It’s fun to be a new entrepreneur, at almost 60!

I just love tops and dresses with that shape. I sew some of my clothes, and I’ve been looking for a good pattern to use. In the meanwhile, I enjoy the ones I can find to buy. Good post!

I used to love sewing my clothes. It’s a great way to get the style you want in just the right fabric for you!

      Comfy too!

Looks like a fabulous top and something I would wear. Problem? I’m 5′ and do you think it would overwhelm me?

I’m pretty sure it’s available in petite. Otherwise it might be pretty long on you, Eva. The fact that it’s shorter in front is what helps on my short self!

I have denim leggings that I bought from there years ago that I still wear. Just received the catalogue in the mail & have picked out a few new pieces that I want to try. You look great!

Thanks, Cathy! I do love their pieces!!

Very cute! I have the opposite problem–trying to hide curves, mainly below the waist. If I wear a tunic that’s too straight, I just look huge, whereas it’s only my hips that are huge. Not fair! I really like these kinds of tops in summer–they give protection from the sun yet are flowy enough to be cool.

A-line would be very flattering in your shape too! It’s a great shape for most women.
