This week’s midweek mannequin is not like the one I frisked like last week:) I chose this “gal” because she’s wearing a top with similar details to the one we discussed last week. I decided to try the look on so we could get a better look at how it looks on a person.
The jeans are a very dark blue wash, high rise skinny with unfrayed bottom hem. The top is a cotton sweater with an attached Peter Pan collar, edged with pearls, and pleated cuffs.
Many of you disliked what this mannequin was wearing because the collar was long and the sweater was heavy. What do you think of the one today?
Several of you expressed interest in the trend for collars so I looked into it. The exaggerated Peter Pan collar started showing up on influencers and fashionistas last fall. Whether the trend will continue is anybody’s guess.
So what do you think? Is this look more or less appealing than the other one?
While I was there I tried on a few other things. Please know, I wear a mask, use copious amounts of hand sanitizer, and use antiseptics wipes before I touch my purse, keys, etc. I am never within 6 feet of other people and am very careful.
This color block sweater comes in three color combos and has a fun modern vibe. It’s got a nice dolman sleeve making it roomy and comfy. I think the coral is a pretty color to pep things up this time of year but the blue is gorgeous! I’m wearing a small so it runs large. These jeans are Wit and Wisdom skinny with a nice high rise. They have tons of stretch and fit true to size. I am wearing a 6.

These straight-leg crops work for this petite gal and are marked down. I love the fit of these jeans because they’re not too fitted. I’m wearing a 6 so they run true to size. This basketweave cotton sweater is super soft. I’m wearing a small but would prefer the L or even XL because I like slouchy sweaters. It’s also available in a vibrant coral which is really pretty.
This top is the sleeveless version of Vince’s perennially popular, rumpled satin blouse. It comes in ivory or black. I think all of these blouses run large so size down. I am wearing a small. This cardigan was the first thing I picked up this day because I’m always on the hunt for cool-toned leopard print. I must not be the only one because this cardi seems to be sold out in regular, plus is here. This is the same print in a pullover.
On the subject of brilliant, could we talk about a sweatshirt dress for staying cozy at home? They call this a long sleeve hoodie dress. Most of these are above the knee so you’d need to add legging or tights to stay warm. This one works on its own. It comes in myriad colors and is under $50. I am wearing a medium but would be better in a small so I think it runs one size large.
Whew, that was a lot!
So back to the mannequin…what do you think?
Could you make this work for you?
Thanks for reading and remember to wear what makes you feel confident.
I’ve never commented before but see no one complimented you in the skinny jeans! Paired with the color block sweater is a fresh younger version of you!
The size of the collar made a nice positive improvement; it made me think twice about trying it myself-thank you!
I love black sweater and Peter Pan collar shirt. Love the idea of pearls as an accessory. Can be dressed up or down. If worn with skinny black pants, could add a little bling with sparkly accessories.
I love this look. The top is elegant & classic. It works with the dark jeans; I would also pair it with skinny black pants. To complete the look, I would add pearls in whatever length works for the individual. BTW: the look is attractive on the mannequin and also looks great on you.
I love this new collared outfit. Has me written all over it. I actually bought a whit collard with pearl dickie to wear under sweaters. So great when you don’t want to add a blouse under it. By the way you looked fabulous in the light blue dress!
I think that the look on the mannequin and on you looks old lady. the outfit is too dark and maybe would look better if the sweater was brighter. I did like the color block sweater, it was fresh and modern.
I liked the Peter Pan collar outfit on you, but not on the mannequin. The straight leg crop jeans look great, I want to get a pair. I don’t wear skinny anything, Lol! I liked the hooded dress and ordered it! I wear things like that at home. Thanks! Everything looked great on you!
