Midweek Would You Wear It

Midweek Would You Wear It

Happy Wednesday ladies. I hate to talk about the weather but sheesh, ours is out of control. On Monday we had walnut-sized hail, hours of rumbling thunder with heavy black clouds, and torrential downpours. Yesterday was breezy and sunny with gorgeous blue skies and lots of white puffy clouds. The weather a week from today is predicted to be 98! I’m still getting used to the blistering summers here and my wardrobe is not ready!

Luckily the Memorial Day Sales start very soon and I will be taking full advantage of them.

Everyone seems to love the midweek would you wear it popups my friend Pam and I are doing so we have another one for you today. We share an outfit and ask our readers to tell us whether they would wear it or not. I still can’t get into the stores for a mannequin so my outfit today is from a website.

So tell me, ladies, would you wear this dress and why or why not. Please keep your comments personal to you and give specific ideas.

How would you style it to work for your shape and lifestyle?

There’s a whole crop of soft chambray dresses these days because it’s a super comfy fabric for warm summer days.

Now let’s go to Over 50 Feeling 40 and see the outfit Pam is sharing.

Thanks for reading and remember to wear what makes you feel confident!

Yes, I would wear – in a lighter fabric. The style seems flattering with the A-line and open sleeves. But I live in Florida and so this in a very light chambray would drape beautifully, and hopefully feel cool!

    Great dress!
After a long winter and Northeastern “ spring” in jeans, jeans, jeans, i am more likely to look for a patterned fabric. But — love the dress!

I love the dress but not sure I like the sleeves!
I always love a denim dress…great for travel!

One of my pet peeves is trying to determine if I would like a dress when the model is sitting down or anything other than standing straight to show the full on dress. I think I would love this dress but the picture shows nothing of how this dress would really look in a basic standing pose. Is it straight? A-line? Full enough at the hips? How does the fabric drape?

I agree I wish they would show the model standing up.

Yes I would definitely wear this. I love the sleeve length and what I can see of the sides. I have a sleeveless chambray dress that I bought from Talbots last year and this would be a great addition.

I have a similar dress and it is a staple in my wardrobe and great for summer vacations. My dress is a collarless style with a button front and is sleeveless and is an A-line style and has pockets! I often pair it with a cardigan or scarf or shawl to ward off overcooled air-conditioned spaces. I wear with sneakers or flat sandals or block-heel sandals or slides. I like this dress but not the sleeves as they seem too fussy and would be too much in a Vegas summer.

Would I wear it? Yes! with alterations. Sleeves probably shortened so “bell-notch” above elbow; probably tapered slightly, too. Big chunky rivet buttons changed for pearl snaps or studs. Prefer a more delicate touch to my “cowgirl chic”. Tencel is such a comfortable, easy to wear fabric; would enjoy this dress.

Keeping with the Cowgirl Chic Muse (I’m in SWLA & it wouldn’t look costumey), I’d pair it with a pair of nude tooled leather, almond-toe, low block heel/flats. Add a bit of whimsy with yellow fringe earrings & silver/citrine pave cocktail ring. Definitely carry an equestrian-theme neckerchief. (Why not look cute if a mask is suddenly needed.) And! linen hat & gloves. Muse is musing handbag options…

I don’t wear dresses much these days, but this one could change my mind. It looks very easy & relaxed, & the length might be just right for me. I could see it with sneakers or maybe a cute red ballet flat.

I love this dress, and I think it would suit a lot of different body shapes. I wouldn’t wear it though. As I have got older I have developed a thing about sleeves, nowadays I like short sleeves that finish before the elbow or long sleeves. Any other sleeve lengths just irritate me.

I feel like the last few you’ve shared are REAL outfits, not department store choices that no one would wear. I love this and would wear it in a heartbeat. Actually, I have one very similar. I hemmed it shorter and wear it with black leggings. So cute!

It is a very cute dress. I would love to wear it – our NC summers are hot where I live and dresses can be a good antidote. But, it’s length could be trouble. At 5’4″ I would likely need to shorten it. My seamstress could probably save the hem feature, but it would be extra $. Too bad they didn’t offer it in petite. My bet is it would need to come up at least 1-2′ for best results on my body. Tencil is so much thinner and more flowing than straight denim or even chambray. Good choice for this mid-week popup.

I’d absolutely wear this. In our climate(Oregon) I think it would go year round, depending on accessories. Plus the color is super, and flattering to any complexion.
It would be o.k. for a low key evening out, but maybe a little too casual for casual Friday in a business setting. In summer I see it with sandals and a statement necklace, in fall and winter, scarves and boots.
Tencel is a wonderful fabric- wears and drapes well. A little less stiff than denim can be, and a little more structure than lightweight chambray.
    Great choice!

I love the dress and the fabric. It’s a perfect style for me.

Winner! Perfect material and shape for my pear shaped body, v-neck and sleeves. The only thing better would be being in Positano wearing it while drinking a glass if wine!

Please send warm weather my way to London, Ontario, Canada. A very slow start to spring and it is still very cool.

    Absolutely not.

As an H shape, an A-line dress like this would overwhelm my frame and make me look super frumpy, and fat as well. Also, a V-neckline looks terrible on me, due to wide shoulders and an oval face.

I also heartily dislike floppy sleeves, that droop into your work or your dinner plate. A hard pass.

I would definitely wear this dress. It’s relaxed and the soft denim blue color would flatter almost everyone. I would likely accessorize this with a straw bag and sandals.

Pretty dress. I am a big Tencel convert. It’s soft and it drapes. It mimics denim well.

This dress is perfection! Love it. It would be perfect in AC this summer and in the fall with tights or leggings and boots. Here in casual Colorado it could go almost anywhere.

Yes, love this dress. It could be dressed up or down for different types of occasions. And it could be worn in cooler weather with tights, boots, and even a turtleneck.

This dress is entirely different than anything I’ve worn before, but assuming that the fabric is as soft as it looks, I would love to try it. I would wear it as shown with either my new white sneakers or a pair of sandals. I’d probably add my simple anchor necklace from Amos Pewter in Nova Scotia.

Thank you for mentioning Amos Pewter—such loveliness! I wish I’d known about this place when we were in Halifax some years ago for my son’s convocation at Dalhousie. Since I also live in Canada, I’ll be happy to order online and not have the added exchange rate! 😊

This dress is definitely something I would wear and probably reach for again and again. Although, I’d need to try it on to know for sure if it’s flattering. Having more casual, comfortable dresses in my wardrobe is on my priority list when I get out shopping. Our retail stores reopened yesterday, with some restrictions.

Hi Jennifer, I LOVE this dress. I really like chambray anyway as it is so easy and comfortable. This dress looks like it would hide the “bumps” and I would wear it casually just as shown, or with a Boho necklace and espadrilles for a more “dressy” look.

  25. Terri

Definitely. Love the classic look & V-neck! Looks comfortable & would be a great basic that can be dressed up for fun.

I love the dress! The A-line shape and v-neck are just what I look for in a dress. The sleeves are pretty and on cool mornings like today, the extra coverage would be good to have. The sleeves would also be good for an overly air-conditioned room. I have dangly earrings and a wrap bracelet that are perfect to wear with denim or chambray. I would wear this with sandals with a wedge heel. I’m to a fan of wearing sneakers with a dress!

I really like this dress, and love the fabric. I enjoy wearing dresses a lot in the summer months, as I find them comfortable, cool and slightly more flattering than shorts depending on the situation. I would definitely wear this dress, as long as it is not too short. The dress would have to fall slightly above, at, or just below my knees. I’m not tall, at five feet, five inches tall, and I find it hard to find a nice casual knee length summer dress that falls at my knee level. I do have quite a few midi or maxi type dresses which I enjoy wearing, but for variety I also enjoy wearing knee length dresses as well. Unfortunately, I find it hard to find many casual dresses that are long enough for me to wear.

I really like this dress, happy to see this fabric back in style. It reminds me of a darker denim dress that I had late college days and first teaching job. Too funny, it could be worn as a dress or coat! Wowzie, I am aging myself. It buttoned down the front. I prayed for you, grateful all is well. Thanks for your terrific blog. I have had a bob hair style forever, is your hair layered? Very cute!
