Beautiful and Modest Spring Dresses for Easter and Passover Celebrations

Now that February is behind us, Easter and Passover are approaching quickly, with Easter taking place on March 31st and Passover beginning on April 22nd. Last year, I had several AWSL readers ask for my recommendations for spring dresses for Easter and Passover celebrations, so I decided to continue the tradition of posting my dress finds this year. This diverse list of flattering spring dresses has something for everyone, no matter if you’re planning to cook a special Easter meal or attend an upcoming Seder. Even if you aren’t religious, these dresses will have you looking and feeling beautiful at all of your spring weddings, showers, brunches, graduations, and more.

Evereve Winona Midi Dress

I tried to include a wide variety of different dress silhouettes, hemline lengths, and sleeve types. If you like to cover your arms, the etiquette for your event is more modest, or if you live in a chilly part of the country, all of these dresses could be paired with a cardigan or fitted jacket.

While you’re shopping for dresses, you’re going to need a pair of shoes to go with your outfit. Here are a few posts with my recommendations:

Spring Dresses for Easter and Passover

Somerset Maxi Dress

This Somerset dress is one of Anthropologie’s best sellers, and I can see why. The smocked waist, pintucked hem and V-neckline make it look so elegant, especially paired with the maxi length. My favorite features? The pockets and that it can be machine washed, which makes it super easy to care for. I thought this citrus print was fun for spring, but it comes in eight additional colorways.

Available in sizes XXS-3X and petite sizes XXS-XL

Side Knot Shirt Dress

Nothing screams spring like a fresh floral print, and I’m seeing a lot of florals this year. Shirt dresses are more popular than ever this season. I love the addition of the side knot. Plus, the price of this midi shirt dress is just right at $30.

Available in sizes XS-XL

Lace Fit and Flare

This dress features a square neckline and a hidden back zip closure. I know many women prefer not to show their knees, so this lace overlay is a great option. From upcoming holiday celebrations to spring weddings or date nights, you’ll look and feel amazing in this lace fit and flare dress.

Available in misses sizes 2-18, petite sizes 2-16, plus sizes 14-24, and plus petite sizes 20-22.

Floral Jacquard Tiered Dress

Made from soft, lightweight fabric, The Floral Jacquard Tiered Dress from Chico’s dress features a classic fit with a collar neck, long sleeves, and smocked cuffs. The clip dot jacquard floral print and tiered skirt create a beautiful, flowy silhouette. With a concealed front button half placket, side seam pockets, and midi length A-line shape, this dress is both elegant and practical. Simply pair it with heeled sandals for an effortless, chic look.

Available in sizes XS-XXL

Tiled Vine Godet Dress

The majority of my readers request midi or maxi dress recommendations, but I do have the occasional request for shorter-length finds, so I wanted to include a few in my list. I loved this tile-inspired print, the feminine details, and the beautiful green color of this dress from Loft.

Available in XXS-XXL in regular, petite, and tall

Flutter Sleeve Crepe Dress

I love a midi-length dress because they hide the knee. If you struggle with crepey skin around your knees, you’ll understand what I mean. This midi dress from Talbot’s has a striking color combination that is both playful and feminine, especially paired with the pretty flutter sleeves and crepe fabric.

Available in misses 2-18, petite 2-16, plus 14-24, plus petite 14 and 22

Long Sleeve Button Up Shirt Dress in Petite

This button up shirt dress can be dressed up with heels and jewelry or dressed down with sandals or flats, depending of the formality of your event. The long sleeves make it appropriate for cooler weather, while the button-up front adds a touch of sophistication. Whatever your plans may be, this dress is a versatile and chic option for any spring occasion.

Available in petite sizes S-L

Contrast Trim Shift Dress

If you’re looking for a versatile dress that can be worn on multiple occasions, this shift dress is a piece that could be worn to a graduation or bridal shower after Easter or Passover is over. Linen is one of my favorite fabrics, and I love what the crisp white trim adds to the simple shift silhouette.

Available in sizes XS-XL

Lace Fit and Flare

While browsing, I noticed that Chico’s has a lot of this Kelly green shade this season. I find this color pairs well with black, white, navy, pink, etc., which means you can have fun adding various shoes and handbags to change up your look with this lace fit and flare dress.

Available in sizes XS-XXL

Tweed Jackie Dress

This dress looks very similar to a dress I’ve shared before from Tuckernuck, but for a fraction of the cost. I’ll leave it up to you whether you choose to save or splurge, but I love the combination of the braided trim and the gold crest buttons with the texture of the tweed fabric. It comes in several other great colors, like emerald, pink, white, and red.

Available in sizes XS-XL

Sleeveless Lace Shift Dress in Petite

How do you feel about wearing white before Easter? I know many women adhere to that fashion rule, and luckily, that date is right around the corner. I thought this sleeveless lace shift dress would look nice under a light layering piece, like a wrap or this blazer you saw in my latest Talbot’s Dressing Room Diary.

Available in petite sizes XS-XL

Short Sleeve V Neck Dress

This v-neck dress is a great option at an affordable price. I would dress it up with a pair of low-block heels, making it appropriate for a wedding, shower, graduation, dinner, and so much more. It gets bonus points because it has pockets, which I always love for keeping a few tissues or a lip balm nearby!

Available in sizes S-3X

I’ll Be Wearing

CRUSHED SILK DRESS size S / CROPPED SWEATER size S / ‘JENNIFER’ BAROQUE PEARL NECKLACE save 15% off your entire order with the code AWSL at checkout.

I will be wearing this dress and cropped sweater which I adore and has served me so well over the last year. I wore it to a Seder, a wedding, a casual dinner out and it continues to be a favorite.

  1. I keep going back and forth on buying that EF silk dress (in the red color) but I just don’t go anywhere dressy enough anymore. You look great in yours. It has a nice skimming line that doesn’t show lumps and bumps!

    1. It can be dressed down easily and is perfect for travel.

  2. What a great collection of dresses. You are right that there is something for everyone. I didn’t realize Easter is so early this year šŸŒ¼

  3. You look beautiful in your dark blue Atlantis colored silk dress and sweater. It is my favorite. I donā€™t have anything to go to, to buy a dress. I have a 17ā€ scar on my right knee from total joint replacement surgery so most dresses are out. I would look for something in nice pants style. I could then wear flat shoes as well. I do however love to look at all of your great choices.

    1. I bet you’re happy with your new knee. I have a friend who needs one.

  4. Love the crushed silk! The outfit looks stunning on you! Great color for you, also.

  5. Have no ‘dress’ occasion currently, but do appreciate the lineup as still editing my spring ‘n summer wardrobe with the donation pile growing … ā˜ŗ… so did add two to my Pinterest board. -Brenda-

    1. Happy Wednesday Brenda!

  6. Great collection of dresses. Thanks for including the petite sizes. I will be going to a few dress up events, always enjoy wearing a dress.

    1. Dresses are so easy, just one and done.

  7. CathšŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ says:

What an excellent selection of dresses, Jennifer. Just when I thought I had seen them all, up popped more! I love an UK line called White Stuff, and have four dresses that fit and drape so well , and pair beautifully with cardigans in their line. Soft Autumn colours. I initially found linens that also coordinated well , and those pants and tops are in bins waiting for warmer weather. Happily, I have found a local shop that carries the brand after I initially discovered it in Hampshire ,in England , and their larger store in Edinburgh. It really does make putting together an outfit when it all goes together so well.

    1. It sounds like a great line!

  8. At 74 I no longer follow ā€œarbitraryā€ fashion rules. White can be worn any time, just look at what we did with white jeans. The style and fabric of a piece of clothing dictates what I wear. However, there are non-arbitrary rules that can apply to everyoneā€¦ā€¦likeā€¦ā€¦..no butt cheeks hanging out of short shorts. šŸ˜ (And dare I ad torn/ripped jeans at ANY age.)

  9. I really love the dress you have on. It is just what I am looking for but it is way over the budget and then having to buy the sweater too.

  10. Thanks for the dress ideas! I actually have two colors of the last dress (from Amazon, the wrap waist v neck.). It is not too short, and the v neck is not low on me at all. I love this dress, and am taking the polka dot and navy ones to Paris in summer with me. I donā€™t want to spend huge amounts on travel dresses that may get stained or worse. These are comfortable and will wash even in a sink. But no dryer or they will shrink.
I so wish the Jackie dress was just a bit longer, thatā€™s the reason I have not bought the Tuckernut dress either. Above the knee dresses are not comfortable to sit in and travel in at 72!
Iā€™m 5ā€™8ā€ tall and 159 pounds, for reference to dress size I bought a L in the Amazon dress.

    1. I feel the same about above the knee dresses now. I just prefer them a smidge longer.

      1. Maggie Fieger says:

Your timing for me is perfect! My son is getting married in October, and the first shower is in April! I wore the navy Amazon dress to my grandsonā€™s list last October!
Thank you for always helping me with choices.

  11. Jennifer that Eileen Fisher dress looks so great on you! I have been tempted to buy it as well!

    1. Thanks Cindy, I love it. You’d look fabulious in it.

  12. Such pretty dress options! Here in the northeast, weā€™re not ā€œallowedā€ to wear white until Memorial Day, and most people follow this rule.

  13. What a great round up! Scoop at Walmart, who knew? That Amazon vneck dress is amazing, washes well, packs well and is so flattering on those of us who need a waist in our dresses. It was one of your best recommendations last year! I plan to add a few more. Also thank you for acknowledging Passover. It means a lot to be included!

    1. I love that dress too! My pleasure Shari!

  14. My Easter dress last year came from Amazon and was under $30! I got so many compliments on the color and fit! I absolutely love the lace dress from Talbot’s! Just beautiful, IMHO. The crushed silk dress you are wearing has just the right formality or dressiness for the occasion and is beautiful with your eyes and hair!

    1. Iā€™m so happy I found that crushed silk dress. Itā€™s perfect for so many occasions.
