Monday Musings 4 : What I’m Loving

I’m back from the Blissdom conference and my brain is buzzing with new ideas. I learned lots of new things and was reminded the light coming in a window is the most flattering for selfies;) There were about 700 fabulous women in attendance who were all looking to connect and improve their business. As usual, all I saw of Nashville was viewed from my window or crossing the street to and from the conference center.nashville skyline at night I roomed with Tania who I’ve been internet friends with for years, but haven’t met until now. She’s a hoot! We also had a great time visiting with Cyndi Spivey, Deborah Boland, and Jo-Lynne Shane. One of the best parts of these conferences is connecting with other bloggers.

Here’s what caught my eye this week:

sequin top from Anthropologie

I saw no less than 3 women wearing a fully sequined top at this conference. Each time it grabbed my attention and put the idea of one on my radar. I saw one worn under a blazer, with sparkly earrings, one worn with a fedora and no jewelry, and one worn under a kimono. All the ladies were wearing skinny jeans. Great looks and perfect for this time of year.

ivory rancher from Anthropologie

I’ve switched all my winter hats out and notice that mine are all dark colors. Since I’m attracted to ivory, soft white and bone-colors this fall, I want a pale-colored fedora. Hats needn’t cost a lot and make a great statement. They do take confidence to put on and wear, and they make the wearer look confident. It’s hard to beat that.

Makeup Bagspilled makeup bag

I pride myself on traveling with a carryon bag, only. Yesterday, I jammed one(or 4) too many things into mine and a nail polish bottle broke, coating my makeup with polish and wrecking the makeup bag:( I’ve had this one forever so it’ll be fun to find a new one.

What’s been on your radar this week?

Thanks for reading and remember to wear what makes you feel confident.

  1. I always put nail polish into a zip lock bag before putting it into my toiletry bag.

    Love your photo!

  2. I am happy to see you having such fun at the conference. I follow Tania. She uses color in marvelous ways. You both have been an inspiraration to me. Our figures are similar so I usually follow your style in my daily dressing but sometimes adding a great color like hot pink like Tania has on her post today, inspires me to get a bright coat for Winter. Are you ever tempted to splurge on a bright winter coat? I’m short so I’m not sure if it’s a good idea.

    1. I’ve been loving pale neutrals lately but a bright coat would sure add fun to a dreary day.

  3. After the same thing happened to me on a trip, I’ve started putting my nail polish in a small ziplock bag, then inside the ziplock bag that holds my 3 oz. liquids – double protection! Packing for Thanksgiving in France today…

  4. Jennifer look at the Drawstring Cosmetic Case, at The Grommet. Nothing sexy about it but I have traveled with it for several years now and would not go back to any other way of carrying cosmetics. For me it was always the lack of a good place to setup and access the makeup. This bag allows you to open it as large or small as you need and NOTHING can roll out! It allows you to even use the sink bowl when stuck with a tiny bathroom. (Just toss it in the wash when you get back from a trip.)

  5. Check out the Lug bags on QVC. I love mine. They last forever! Not an ad, just an opinion.

  6. You look great! Welcome home

  7. When Tania posted a pic of you and her it made me happy. The first thing I read everyday is her posts and yours. Both off you are fabulous and I enjoy both of you!!

  8. I love fedoras on both men and women, and I love to wear hats. Unfortunately, I live in Illinois, and it is often very windy. Seems like the only hats I can wear are knit winter hats that stay snug on my head.

  9. I’m glad you didn’t fall off a peddle tavern or get run over by a scooter! Come back when you can stay longer and eat hot chicken and see more of Nashville!

  10. Loved the sequin/shiny tops with jeans. I may need one for the holidays.

So sorry about your makeup bag. Nail polish is a mess to clean up – and creates a huge problem. Good luck in finding what you need.

  11. Sounds like a great time at the conference! One of the things I like about blogs is the connections you make with people you would never otherwise get to meet. You are lucky to have met them in person too!
I love the light coloured hat at the top. I cannot find these anywhere up here. Everyone seems to go dark and there are a lot of woolen hats for the cold winter.

  12. Im sorry about your makeup bag, I know that was an aw dang it moment.
got excited looking at the fedoras! im betting i could get away with one again.
many, many years ago i had a red one, and a red london fog long coat, and always felt like i was rocking it when i traveled in those.
