Happy Wednesday ladies. Yesterday’s style challenge post had some interesting responses that got me thinking about shape and proportion. Several readers remarked that they disliked the look because it was not figure-flattering. It was shapeless and a weird length. True and true.
Caftans are not meant to be figure-flattering, that’s the whole point. They are a variant of a robe or tunic and meant to be loose. The whole point of a caftan is to obscure your body lines and float over your shape.
This challenge reinforced my preference for shape and soft structure in my garments. I will still wear my caftan around the house and yard on beastly hot days. I’ll also wear it over a bathing suit if I ever get a chance to wear one again:) Some women look amazing in caftans, I am not one of them. Part of the reason is my very broad shoulders and the need for something, anything, that shows I have a shape:)
Now it’s time for our mid-week would you wear it pop-up with my friend Pam. I actually have a real mannequin this time because I had to be inside the mall last weekend. Each week, Pam and I ask our readers to tell us if they would wear what the mannequin is modeling.
I also love you to share your styling ideas so we can get inspiration from each other. Some of the best ideas are in the comment section of these posts.
So tell me, ladies, would you wear this ombré dress?
Ombré is the french word for blending one color hue to another. Are you a fan?
How could you style it to work for your shape and lifestyle?
Here some other fun things in ombré
Here’s what’s trending on AWSL this week:
This festive little clutch with embroidered umbrellas is very popular this week on AWSL. I suspect that’s because whimsey and happy items are on many of your minds.
This leopard print Soma Cool Night sleep shirt is on major sale and selling like crazy! Soma is one of my favorite brands for sleepwear because their Cool Nights fabric is a dream to sleep in and super soft. Soma also happens to be having their biggest-ever semi-annual sale so if your lingerie needs refreshing, nows the time. I bought 5 of these, and 5 of these, all in the nude closest to my skin tone. Call me boring but nude panties are the most useful to me… plus they’re on sale for buy 3 get 2 free.
Now let’s go to Over 50 Feeling 40 and see what outfit Pam is sharing.
Be well and remember to wear what makes you feel confident.
