The Best Bras for Women Over 60
Let’s be honest, finding the right bra can feel like a full-contact sport. Between shifting shapes, disappearing padding, and straps that seem to have minds of their own, it’s no wonder most of us would rather talk about anything else.
But the truth is, the right bra can quietly transform how everything else looks and feels because it smooths, it lifts, and it keeps things in their place. The wrong one has me tugging, fidgeting, and counting down the hours until I can fling it across the room.
Today, I’m talking about the best bras for women over 60. These are the styles I reach for, the categories worth considering, and the details that matter most at this stage in life.

I did a version of this post years ago with your favorites, and I thought it was time for an update for 2025. If you’d like to see the original reader recommendations, you can find them here: Most Comfortable Bras for Women.
My Everyday T-Shirt Bras
The bra I wear most often is a simple T-shirt bra. I want something smooth under my clothes that doesn’t add extra bulk. For me, that means lightly lined cups with a firm band and wide straps.
I avoid heavy padding because it makes me feel like I’m wearing armor. Instead, I look for soft fabrics that mold to my shape. A molded cup gives me a nice outline under knits without showing through.
My Favorite: Pain Free T-Shirt Bra

I was gifted the Zen Pain-Free T-Shirt Bra from EBY, and loved it from the first wearing. It has no underwire, yet it manages to stay supportive all day without any digging. The fabric is incredibly soft, the straps don’t slip, and the whole bra feels almost weightless. I especially like that it lies smoothly under T-shirts, so there’s no fussing with lines or seams.
Reader Favorite: Wacoal Basic Beauty Spacer Underwire Bra

Wacoal Basic Beauty Spacer Underwire Bra
A classic T-shirt bra that offers full coverage and light shaping. Readers love that it feels supportive without being heavy, and it works well under knits.
Reader Favorite: Soma Enbliss Bralette

This wire-free style has a loyal following because it feels soft against the skin and gives gentle support for everyday wear. A good option if you want structure but not stiffness.
Wire-Free Bras
There was a time when wireless bras were strictly for lounging, but not anymore. Brands now make supportive options that do not rely on underwires. If your skin is more sensitive or you cannot tolerate wires digging in, these are worth trying.
I like wire-free bras with wider bands and molded cups. They lift without flattening and feel soft against the skin. They may not create the same dramatic shape as a push-up, but they provide enough support for everyday wear, especially if your lifestyle leans casual.
My Experience: EBY Relief Bra

A wire-free option I’ve added to my drawer recently is the EBY Relief Bra. What I like about it is the extra support it gives without feeling restrictive. The fabric is soft against my skin, and the wider straps stay in place so I’m not tugging at them all day. It has a smoothing effect through the sides and back, which makes it especially nice under thinner tops. This has been my go-to bra since I added it to my lingerie drawer.
My Experience: Warner’s Easy Does It Wireless Bra

Warner’s Easy Does It Wireless Bra
The Warner’s Easy Does It Wireless Bra is one of my favorites. It has wide straps, a smooth band, and lightly molded cups that give me shape without squishing. I can wear it from morning to night without feeling desperate to take it off.
Amazon Favorite: Vertvie Womens Seamless Wireless Bra

Vertvie Womens Seamless Wireless Bra
This affordable Amazon bestseller is a seamless, wire-free style that’s designed for all-day comfort. It has wide straps that stay in place, stretchy fabric that adapts to your shape, and no underwire to poke or dig. Reviewers love it for its light support and smooth fit under tees, making it a practical everyday bra if comfort is your priority.
Front-Closure Bras
One thing no one tells you…clasping bras behind your back gets trickier with age. If shoulder mobility has become an issue, a front-closure bra is your friend. They are easy to put on, easy to take off, and often sit smoother across the back because there is no bulky clasp pressing into your spine.
Amazon Favorite: Bali Comfort Revolution Front-Close Underwire Bra

Bali Comfort Revolution Front-Close Underwire Bra
This is one of Amazon’s most popular front-closure bras. It has stretch foam cups for light shaping, a secure snap front clasp, and a wider back band that helps smooth without squeezing. The underwire adds extra support, but the overall feel is still soft and flexible, making it a practical option if you want ease of wear without sacrificing lift.
Reader Favorite: Spanx Bra-llelujah!

I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about this full-coverage, front-clasp bra from Spanx, and it’s also on my list of bras to try! Reviews claim it is super soft and supportive. I love that it has wider straps to prevent the straps from cutting into your shoulders, although I do wish they were adjustable. Sizes 32B-40DD.
A reader of mine, Melissa, said that this is her go-to everyday bra, and I’m planning to give it a try.
Sports Bras
Even if you are not in the gym, a good sports bra is still useful for walking, yoga, or Pilates. The trick for women over 60 is finding one that supports without squeezing too tightly.
I recommend medium-support styles with wide straps and soft fabric. Choose ones you can pull on easily or zip in the front.
Reader Favorite: Athleta Interval Sports Bra

The Interval Sports Bra from Athleta is highly rated for medium-impact workouts like walking, Pilates, or light cardio. It’s made with their PowerMove fabric, which feels lightweight, wicks away moisture, and has breathable mesh panels for cooling. Reviewers like the stay-put straps, built-in removable pads, and the secure fit that doesn’t shift mid-workout. It comes in both A–C and D–DD fits.
If you’d like even more options, I’ve shared a full roundup of styles in this post on the best sports bras for older women.
Strapless Bras
Strapless bras are not my first choice. Most of them end up sliding down or digging in, and they’re rarely as comfortable as an everyday style. That said, there are times when a sleeveless dress or off-the-shoulder top calls for one, and it’s better to have a reliable option in the drawer than to scramble last minute.
Reader Recommendation: Wacoal Red Carpet Strapless Bra

Wacoal Red Carpet Strapless Bra
One of the most highly recommended strapless bras. This isn’t going to feel as comfortable as an everyday style, but it stays in place and does the job for special occasions.
Amazon Favorite: ANGOOL Strapless Wirefree Bra

This Amazon find is a wire-free strapless bra designed with anti-slip silicone along the band to help it stay put. The seamless cups give light support without adding bulk, and the stretchy fabric molds to your shape for a smoother fit under dresses or tops. It’s a budget-friendly option if you only need a strapless bra occasionally but still want something that feels soft and secure.
How Often Should You Replace Bras?
This is a question I get all the time. The truth is, bras don’t last forever. If you’re wearing the same ones week after week, the elastic and support start to break down after about 6–12 months.
Here’s when I know it’s time to replace mine:
- The band feels stretched out even on the tightest hook
- The straps have lost their grip and slide constantly
- The cups no longer hold their shape
- It just doesn’t feel supportive anymore
Rotating several bras helps them last longer. I usually keep four or five in regular rotation so I’m not wearing the same one every single day.
How to Care for Bras
Hand washing is best, but I’ll admit I don’t always do it. When I machine wash, I use a lingerie bag, cold water, and the gentle cycle. You can use this detergent that’s designed for delicates. Then I lay them flat to dry. Never in the dryer. Heat destroys elastic quickly.
This little bit of care keeps bras lasting longer and saves money in the long run.
FAQ About Bras After 60
Should women over 60 still wear underwire bras?
If they’re comfortable for you, yes. If not, wire-free styles today are supportive enough for many women.
What type of bra is best for sagging breasts?
Look for full-coverage cups with strong bands. A lightly lined underwire or structured wire-free style often works best.
How can I keep bra straps from slipping?
Choose bras with closer-set straps or adjusters in the front. Racerback and convertible options also help.
Do bralettes work after 60?
They can. Bralettes are best for smaller cup sizes or casual wear. Some newer designs add light lining for more support.

Thank you Jennifer, great information!
Thank you and your readers for all of these great suggestions!
Great post! Buying bras has gotten more difficult. I think because there are fewer stores to try them on. So much is online buying . I’ve found that Wacoal has the best bras for me. I also have a few Soma bras and like them.
I believe that Warner’s bra you are holding up is the No Side Effects Underarm Smoothing Wireless bra instead of the one you have linked. I like it because it doesn’t have a bottom band that can roll up!
As another reader mentioned, I have not reached behind to fasten a bra in decades – I just put it around my waist and fasten it in front, then slide it around so the hook part is in back, lean forward into it to get everybody into the cups, put my arms into the straps and pull it up – this can be reversed when taking it off – I had to figure it out when I broke my arm years ago!
My drawer has many expensive bras that are terrible torture for me and have never worn more than an hour. My BFF got me into bralettes. I’m 32” in the ribs and 41” in the bust. My DD girls are only happy in my Hanes white cotton XL sized bralettes. That are cheap, comfortable and wash in the washer in cold water and I hang to dry on my clip hangers upside down to dry. I wear a fresh one every day and have a dozen. I hate hot molded cups which at 5’1” tall makes me look so top heavy as well as uncomfortable. Bralettes forever for this 80 year old still slender woman.
Walcoal stores provide excellent asssitance in bra fittings. Obviously they only carry Walcoal bras, but they have many, many styles and colors. They are not inexpensive. However, once you find one you like, there are often sales on discontinued colors. I am very happy with the back smoothing underwire t-shirt bra I found!
What a great post! Thank you! I’m always on the hunt for comfortable bra. For many years, I wore Wacoal, which makes a great bra. My current favorite is the Third Love underwire minimizer bra. I wear a 36g. It’s very comfortable and sometimes I forget to take it off when I walk through the front door! I just wanted to share a comfie bra for women with a larger cup size.
I was hoping you would post about bra’s, and here it is! Thank you for this informative overview of something very important to us all. One thing I’ve enjoyed after turning 60 is trying a minimizer bra. Very comfortable and it makes my outfits fit so much better. Thanks for your expert advice for us all.
If you have big girls I recommend Wacoals bras that hide back fat. I looked for years and this is the best, most comfortable ever. Regular price is a little spendy, around $75, but it takes away any back fat and gives you great lift and a smooth back. So many women don’t check to see how the fit looks in the back, not just the front. Thank you!
My current preference is for tanks or camisoles with built-in bras to help smooth out my midriff. Do you have any experience with these? I’d also appreciate your evaluations of shape wear, as another reader mentioned. Thanks so much for addressing these important topics!
I don’t have a suggestion but I will investgate and get more info for us.
Thanks for this article. Very informative. Please consider providing suggestions for underwear for those of us in our 60s. Finding supportive pieces that don’t show panty lines is hard to find. Would love your suggestions.
Will do!
I did appreciate reading this but I have a question and wonder if anyone else does this besides me :)………I get more than one day wear out of a bra before I wash, and of course in the heat of the summer if I sweat in one, yes I would wash. Does anyone else do this (TMI???).
Yes, I get more than one day wear out of a bra too!
Thanks! This post was helpful. I’d love it if you would do one on shapewear. So many options and such a hassle to shop for the right fit.
Great idea. There not torture wear anymore.
I did try your favorite Warner’s bra and it wasn’t for me. I found a brand I love. It’s called Underoutfit. It comes in a sport versions, regular daily wear style, and many colors. I am a sagging D cup with sloping shoulders. The straps stay on my shoulders because the strap is affixed closer to the grips on the back. They offer one style with lace inserts on the front of the straps.
I will have to try underoutfit!
October 13 is No Bra Day!
Lol
I haven’t bothered to try fastening a bra behind my back in years. I just fasten the band in front where I can see what I’m doing, then turn the bra around. Also, I recently remeasured myself and had to get a different size. Much more comfortable for now.
I’ve been wearing bralettes exclusively for the past several years amd have gotten a bit spoiled by them, because I love the sleek look with no hooks or hardware visible under my clothing. The only drawback is the ‘uniboob’ look.
Recently tried some Underoutfit bras for more grown-up style where I’d like a bit more definition, and they are super comfortable! Not to mention the fabulous shapewear undies that don’t make me feel like a sausage :~).
They sound great!
I need an underwire . My bra size is 34 dd. I like the Soma Vanishing 360 Perfect Coverage Bra. This bra is also available in wire free.
Soma makes a great bra
Thanks, Jennifer, for this well-timed post. I have been really frustrated recently with trying to find a full-coverage wireless bra with strong bands and wide comfortable shoulder straps which smoothes with no cup spillage or back fat/flab. Still looking and wondering if something like this actually exists.
