My Latest Beauty Favorites

Being on the road doesn’t prevent me from trying new beauty products. In fact, it often exposes me to ones I’d never see at home. The latest and greatest beauty products seem to multiply like lemmings, which can be good or bad, depending on your budget and desire to experiment.

I prefer cruelty free and organic or as clean of chemicals as possible. If I discover a product I love, I’ll buy others from the same line. This can be a hit or miss experience but sometimes I get lucky.

This month I’ve tried several new things and gone back to a few old favorites.

Andalou Naturals

I found this brand several years ago and always have several tubes of Andalou Body Butter on A Well Styled Life The body butter is more expensive than the body lotion but has more Shea and Cocoa Butter in it which makes it richer and worth the difference in price.

Lipstick

There are women who routinely spend massive amounts on lipstick. I’m not one of them because the costly ones are seldom cruelty-free. Lipstick formulations seem pretty similar so I focus on color, how well they stay on, and how toxic they are if I ingest them. It’s all but impossible to avoid ingesting some lipstick so clean is really important here. This Jane Iredale Lip Fixation has been my favorite for many years. I buy the color “Fascination” in multiples in case it’s ever discontinued.

I discovered and love this Always Sharp lip Pencil by Smash Box. It sharpens the pencil every time you use it, just by tightening the lid until it clicks. I use the color “Stylist” which is a clear rose tone.

Moisturizer

I use this Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47 as my moisturizer and my first layer of sun protection. Because I have dry skin, it’s a great base to everything else I use and doesn’t leave a white cast. It’s thick but rubs in nicely.

I’m always trying out new nighttime moisturizers. Nothing has impressed me enough that I buy it over and over. Last month a web search turned up Rose Vetiver Day Moisturizer on A Well Styled Life

When that ran out I went back to this Rose Vetiver Day Cream by Evan Healy. It’s rich enough to use at night for me. I’ve used many things from this line and am a big fan of the sourcing and ingredients.

Face Wash

I’m currently using this Sukin Sukin skin products on A Well Styled LifeI ran out of my Andalou on this trip so picked up their body lotion which feels really nice. While I was at it I bought their Organic Rose Hip Oil which I apply before the evening cream. I’ve been using Rose Hip Oil on my skin for years.

What beauty products do you order again and again?

Thanks for reading and have a great day.

  1. Hi Jennifer,

It seems like the older we grown the more important our beauty routine becomes. And i, for one, appreciate all the effort you put into researching various products.

I am “one of those people” that has scent triggered asthma. I’m sure there are others that follow you with the same sensitivity, so I’m wondering if you can recommend products for that of us that have difficulties with fragrances?

    Keep up the great work!

    1. Are you bothered by scents from essential oils? I will look into some for you

I enjoy reading about your skin care routine, I look forward to trying out some of your recommendations! Also, big thanks to your sunscreen blog, I have change my routine entirely, tossed a bunch of chemical sunscreen and am trying several mineral based sunscreen. The Josie Maran Argan Sunscreen is lovely.

    1. I’m so glad you like that one. I’m thrilled with the Josie Maran

  3. Use Sukin nearly all the time for hand washing, shampoo, body oil etc. Natio (Aussie brand) also meets non cruel, no added ‘nasties’ criteria. Natio does a SPF50+ daily face Moisturizer which is a treat with their BB Cream SPF 15 for everyday use.

    1. I’ll see if Natio is available here. Thanks for the recommendation.

  4. Thank you so much for advocating cruelty free. I really enjoy your blog and loved seeing these recs.

  5. Is anyone else having trouble following you on Instagram? When I attempt, it always say “Sorry, this page is unavailable”…….

I too am having trouble following Jennifer on Instagram. I hope it gets cleared up soon.

      1. I’m working on it. Hopefully it’ll get fixed soon.

  6. I also like to purchase cruelty free and organic and utilize the EWG site for testing results. I’ve had good luck with some Mineral Fusion products. Now my goal is to stop buying things in plastic. I’m attempting to get glass or other environmentally safer packaging.

    1. I really like the Mineral Fusion lipsticks. One of my favorite shades is by them.

  7. I am still a big fan of Clinique. I have been using it since I was 15 and I am now 61! I know it’s not “ friendly” but I keep going back to it! I am using some Emenince products at night and I love them! I love Jane Iredale to especially her pressed powder and Pommist!

  8. I recently signed up for your blog after seeing you on Pinterest. This is my first fashion blog and wasn’t sure if I’d like it or find it useful. After finding that you use Jane Iredale I’ll trust your recommendations and look forward to trying a few of them. This is gonna be fun!

  9. I have researched the Ann Marie Gianni Skin Care line, and sampled the products. They are organic and plant based. I am very impressed with how my skin looks and feels after only a week of using samples. I highly recommend this line of products.

    1. Thanks for the recommendation Karen. I see they have a sample set which makes it easy to try.

  10. I need to check out Jane Iredale. I’m a fan of Ilia and RMS for makeup and Pai and Caudalie for skin care. Clean is my number one priority. Always love your suggestions.

    1. Ilia makes my favorite blush stick. I haven’t tried RMS for years. I’ll have to give them another look. I haven’t tried Pai either. There are so many wonderful options for us these days. We’re lucky.

  11. Janet Williams says:

I always appreciate people sharing their favourites and especially yours since they are well researched and tested and not just advertising. I know everyone’s body is different but I have had great success with your recommandations. Thanks!

    1. I’m happy to hear that Janet. We are all so unique but my skin is pretty sensitive so I’m very selective.
