Dressing Room Diaries: Spring at Loft

Dressing Room Diaries: Spring at Loft

Happy Friday ladies. The Carpenteria weather switched from cool but sunny to gray and rainy so packed up our trailer and headed home. That kind of drizzle feels cozy from a toasty home or hotel room. Not so much from a tiny trailer with the essence of l’eau du wet dog who has been foraging on the beach for 3 days.

I stopped into Loft last week and found some great classic patterns and shapes in mix & match neutrals for today’s dressing room diaries.

I started with this soft knit jacket in a white and navy stripe which screams spring to me. It has a single gold button closure and front welt pockets which are almost hidden unless you put your hands in them. It’s machine washable cotton fabric feels great on. It’s slightly fitted and available in regular, petite and plus. I’m wearing a regular length small and could probably wear the petite medium if I wanted it shorter.

I’m wearing it over their vintage soft ballet neck tee which is available in 6 colors, XXL – XXL. It runs true to size. I’m wearing a small which is a touch snug on me. These dotted leggings are pull-on style and high-rise in navy with a soft white dot. It’s not technically a polka dot but looks close enough. They’re available in regular and petite, XXS – XXL. I’m wearing a large and needed a medium or small. I like the rise on these so would not opt for petite.Jennifer of A well Styled Life wearing striped sweater blazer over navy and over white

Here’s the same jacket and tee with white jeans in their curvy cut. I am anything but curvy so the hips and legs are too full on me, The modern fit which is straighter is here. They’re a classic 5 pocket style and run large. They’re very nice, soft cotton and elastane which are thick enough to be opaque…always a great thing in white jeans. I’m wearing a regular 8 with the hem folded under and would need a 6 petite.

This modern skinny jean is pull-on style with a 10 1/4″ high-rise. Dark navy rinse here. I love this jean! It’s a cotton/Tencel/Lycra fabric that is super soft and stretchy. These don’t feel like jeans, but they look like them. They’re available in regular or petite and run true to size. I’m wearing a regular 29 with the hem folded under. This side slit tunic sweater is available in this soft pink and black. The fabric is super soft but this round neckline is not my best look so I’d use a long necklace or scarf to visually elongate the look. It comes in regular and petite and runs true to size. I’m wearing a medium petite.

Here are the same skinny jeans with a long cotton duster sweater. I love the shape of this duster. It has long side slits which makes it flowy when you walk. It’s intended to hit just below your knee and available in regular or petite, XXS -XXL. They seemed to be selling out fast in the store and all they had left for me to try on was this regular in L. It’s way too big in the shoulders so I would prefer a small but I like this longer length so would stick with regular. This very soft black cotton tee has long sleeves and slight shirttail hemline which looks good tucked in or hanging out. It’s lightly fitted and available in XXS-XXL in 3 colors.

Here is the same duster cardigan in coastal gray over these modern skinny jeans in black. They run true to size and are available in both curvy and modern (straighter through the hips) in regular, tall, petite and plus. I am wearing a regular 10 with the hems folded under. These are a bit big on me with a 9- 7/8 rise in regular which I like so I’ll skip the petite and hem the jeans.

These are the modern skinny side stripe jeans. They’re a very soft cotton/spandex blend with a 10 1/4″ rise. They’re available in both regular and petite, curvy or modern cut. I’m wearing a curvy regular in 10 which is too large for me so they run true to size. This open cardigan is a best seller at Loft and I see why. It’s a soft, drapey knit that will work over everything. It comes in regular or petite in XXS-XXL and 3 colors plus speckled knit here, and a striped version here. This is a regular in medium which is too loose so it runs true to size.

Have you seen the Loft lately?

Thanks for reading and have a great day.

Not sure if they have Loft in Toronto but I like what I see. The classic blazers with stripes are my favourite and I like the muted gray sweater. It sure will look good on us gray haired ladies but looks wonderful on you, too, Jennifer.

The striped jacket and dotted leggings are my favourite pieces here. I haven’t shopped Loft in the past, but I see that we now have a few of them in western Canada including one in West Edmonton Mall.I think I’ll stop in next time I’m there.

I like the tonal grey/black look the best. I am steering my wardrobe towards tonal dressing. I was in Loft last weekend. I was on a quest for the perfect tee shirt. Loft’s v-neck is $29.50 and cut and sewn crooked. Everyone’s at every price point was. I settled for Target’s Universal Thread tee. 2 for $14, 16 colors. I dug out the straightest. I’ll wear a jacket over them.

I love your dressing room diaries. It’s a great way for me to see what’s available in the store. The Loft is not a regular for me but I need to give it a try.

Loft is not a regular for me either, but I am seeing some really nice shapes and colors there so will try them more often

I wish manufacturers would make more sweaters and blouses that are more opaque. I don’t like to see dark jeans or slacks through sheer material as can be seen with the pale pink/jeans combination.

Less opaque fabrics do seem to be a big trend these days. The ones that bother me are pants that are see through!!

Love your Dressing Room Diaries. We have a Loft near my Talbots, and I need to stop by. That striped jacket is really cute!

I hope not all of Lofts new pants aren’t skinny! While I’m really small (5’ when strtched and a 0 or 2 petite), I’m slightly larger on top. Skinny’s just make my top half look bigger and my small hips/butt invisible! And then my not- skinny legs look chunky. Give me a straight leg (never boot or flare) any day.
The white jeans look so good with the extra width at the ankle. More balanced! A shame they’re big on you. But the smaller size ankle would be narrower too…

They do have straight and I saw some bootcut on their website. I was limited in what I could show you by what was on the floor at the time.

Loft isn’t close to me so I’m not there often but these styles are motivating me to make the drive! I hope they carry these styles in Toronto. Being curvy I need to try pants on for fit. Those dark rinse cotton/tencel skinnies look just what I’m looking for!

They’re a great fit and so comfy, I think you’ll like them
