Not Feeling Blue

Not Feeling Blue

The technical challenges just keep coming with my blog so bear with me. If a post goes out and you can’t see any images, please let me know so I can resume pulling my hair out. I have two teams of professionals digging into this because it’s way over my head and I know when to cry, uncle.

Classic boucle tweed jackets have been an iconic wardrobe piece since Coco Chanel made them popular back in the 1920s. Call me late to the game but I just began to appreciate them for my wardrobe three or four years ago.casual tweek jacket and white shirt on Jennifer of A Well Styled Life

Jeans and a white shirt dress up quickly when you top them with a blazer. Reach for a boucle or tweed blazer and it elevates the look a notch higher.

These days you’ll find them in all shapes, necklines, and colors. They can close with hooks, buttons, zippers or not close at all. casual outfit with blue tweed jacket, white shirt and blue jeans on over 50 blogger Jennifer of A Well Styled Life

They’re available with and without collars. You can buy a tweed jacket for anywhere from $29 to $8000 and up.

Mine is collarless which makes popping the collar of my white shirt easy.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled life wearing Nic+Zoe blue plaid jacket with white shirt and blue jeans

I ran across this plaid jacket during dressing diaries and knew I had to have it. The colors are happy and light for spring, the fabric is stretchy, and it will go with a ton of things in my wardrobe. It would also go over a white or pale blue dress to take me to a summer party, graduation or wedding.

I’ve rounded up a collection of tweed blazers for you below.

Do you have a tweed blazer in your arsenal?

Thanks for reading and have a great day.

Hello! I’m new here but happy to have stumbled on your blog.

Really love this classic outfit. I need a boucle jacket in my life (I guess I’m later to the party than you are) AND a white blouse that knows how to play nice (mine never seems to feel comfy once it’s on).

This is the spring/transitional outfit inspo that I need to break up my striped long-sleeve tee and jeans monotony.

Welcome Em! I’m a big fan of white blouses and how versatile they can be.

Me too! I had a tweed jacket, but I thought it looked “old lady” on me and I haven’t found a white shirt that feels comfortable. Your Talbots one days it has some stretch so it might be the right one!
        Thanks for sharing the look!

I love this look! I gave away the last of my boucle jackets a few years ago as I thought it was too dressy for my new lifestyle. I may have to reconsider now 🙂

I have a tweed jacket from Chico’s last year. I can’t wait to try it with a white shirt and jeans like you did.

Such a cute outfit! Pictures are fine, the links to the items (ie tweed jacket, white shirt, etc) don’t work.

Great outfit the blue really flatters you. I think the problem with your website are all the pop up advertising?

I will look into it but I think it is a virus in my template and plugins fighting with each other.

Cute outfit. I wish I kept those tweed jackets cause now I want one. I bought almost identical jeans at Macys this week — super cute with the navy stripe and much cheaper 🙂 ($10 Last Act)

I love that outfit on you; it’s very flattering both in style and color! I really need to wear my white button downs more often. And I see no problems with your pictures.

I like it all- head to toe. I have a purple Chanel style jacket from Chicos that I wear for winter. I am going to look for one for spring in blue.
You really nailed casual chic with this outfit.

Your outfit is perfect and you look great. That jacket really elevates it! And those shoes look fun but they might be more of a “sitting” shoe than a running around town shoe ?? Or do you find them stable enough (for a slide style)?
    Thanks for posting

The slides are very stable. It’s a wide toe box and comes high enough on the foot to feel very secure.

No probs with your pics. Love the look of the tweed jacket and crisp white blouse. Don’t have a tweed jacket but I bought one in Scotland on the Isle of Lewis in 1974. Wore it into my 30’s and gave it away as I outgrew it, sadly. Tweed is so classic. The outfit really flatters you but I have too thick a waist for this now. Jackets need to be longer for me. The tweed style reminds me of Jacquie Kennedy’s bouclé. She always looked chic and ultra- stylish.

Your best look yet! I love everything about it. Also, you reminded me I have a black and white boucle jacket with leather trim. Forgot I had it! Time to dig it out.

I do have a sweater jacket in this style but I don’t think it is really flattering on me. Maybe too sweater vs. jacket style. Now, your shoes are intriguing…

    • Jennifer
      April 11, 2019 / 8:14 pm

I do have my eye on one that is more sweater-like as well. I think if the fabric has enough body it works as a blazer.
