Happy Wednesday ladies. We are on the home stretch for Christmas and I now have a 21.4-pound turkey sitting in my fridge. You know what that means…we waited too late to order an organic bird. And because we still have the turkey pot pies from Thanksgiving in the freezer, I’ll need to get pretty creative with these leftovers:)
Today I have a mannequin that I ran across last week. I’d love to know if you’d wear it and how. I will come right out and say that I would. I probably wouldn’t wear them together so I would love to hear your styling ideas.
So tell me, ladies. Would you wear these pieces?
How would you style them to work for your lifestyle?
Here’s what’s popular with AWSL readers this week:
These Soho Leggings. I wore this look last week and liked it so much that I washed the leggings and wore the same combo yesterday with a change of jewelry and shoes.

So let’s talk fashion…tell me how and if you would wear what the mannequin is wearing.
Make it a great one ladies
Very cute outfit idea! You will look fabulous in it and I would wear it in a cooler environment.
My favorite turkey leftover: open faced turkey salad sandwiches.
Sliced bread, whatever your favorite
Turkey salad (again to your taste, I add celery and a little grated onion, Mayo)
Pineapple ring, fresh or canned in juice
Slice of cheese, your favorite
Layer turkey salad, pineapple ring and cheese on bread slice. Grill under broiler until cheese is bubbly. De-licious!
Cardigan to big and shapeless for my 5’3” height. Also don’t like the pockets. Nice color though. Hoodie in cashmere? YES!! Right up my alley.
I wouldn’t have thought to wear this together but now I would. Looks great!
I don’t do much love the color of the cardigan. But to make it work for me I would change out the hoodie for an animal print top underneath, in coordinating neutral colors, add a scarf of some sort, maybe going back to the black for a pulled together outfit.
Also, I would have to maybe have the pants be a tad longer, too many years riding hunter horses, my calves are now ‘cows’… and mid-calf, or about, accentuates!
I would be comfortable.
I love your blazer and length, and love, love the black watch cape!
I like this look very much. I wouldn’t have thought to wear the cardigan over a hoodie, but I think it works. I suspect that the combination would be very warm though; perhaps too warm. The hoodie also looks like it might be too short for me. I’m 5’8″ and like my tops on the longish side. I’d also want the pants to be longer. Ankle length doesn’t work in a Canadian winter.
Love the cardigan but prefer longer leggings. Can’t wear cashmere because of allergies.
But really don’t care for the hoodie. Maybe a mock or turtleneck.
Love your jacket. Me all over.
Have a very Happy Holiday and stay safe.
Blessings to you and yours.
I like all the pieces in this outfit and while I would wear it as is, I could also find multiple ways to wear each piece…WIN WIN!
I would definitely wear that outfit, especially the cashmere hoodie with basic slim cut pants and jeans. I would add booties, boots or flats. In place of the long cardigan, I might add a nice wool wrap. I happen to have a subtle plaid that is mostly cream, with grey and tan. I do like the long cardigan. The co!or is a basic, but would prefer a plum or burgundy for my coloring.
I would wear all the pieces except for the hoodie. I really dislike pullover hoodies. The slim black pants/leggings paired with a longer cardigan is a winner. I generally pair a thin turtleneck or tank or pretty print blouse with them. I have two cashmere hoodies that zip up and generally use these for winter travel – they help keep you warm on planes and in hotel rooms that might be a bit too cold or drafty – or pair with jeans and a thin turtleneck for casual looks. Thank you so very much for creating such interesting and thoughtful content. I learn a lot from you. Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season!
First of all Jennifer; re the garments you are modelling today I like their fit/proportions on you. As to the display a no to the pullover/hoodie as feel they are more for the younger generation. (I do currently own one though being a cotton jersey blend that I use on occasion when boating.) Re the pants; unfortunately a tad too short for my personal liking which brings us to the long cardigan. Do love its color in your photos (I’d describe it as a caramel) however as it appears much lighter on the website it would not be flattering to my skin tone so I’d pass on it as well BUT I do like its rich bouclé texture and the fact they offer it in a petite sizing (regardless of my height). As to styling since I feel it is a versatile piece both in design and fabric it could go with a multitude of tops or bottoms both in style and fabric variations plus accommodate a wide range of accessories as well.
Wow! Even if I loved it the hoodie is too pricey for me! $495.00!
WOW, you are right. I was going to say I wouldn’t wear it because you can see through it which would have required a perfect length cami underneath. That was before seeing the price.
I love the look, but those colors wouldn’t do me any favors. I’d copy it in cooler colors that compliment my skin tones. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas! 🎄
I have several duster-style cardigans and wear them often. I like the looks of the one on the mannequin but the color wouldn’t work for me. I’d choose a more colorful top—without a hood. I usually wear a ballet flat, a small wedge, or a block heel with slim pants.
I would definitely wear that cardigan!!! It’s lovely!
I would not wear the cashmere sweater under it due to allergies, but I love how it looks with the cardigan and without. The pants, well, I prefer mine to be longer.
I adore your blazer outfit!
Jenifer, your blog has been a bright spot in this crazy year. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and the happiest of New Years.
Turkey leftovers…
Try Tom ka gai soup
Love the cardigan, although it would have to be a jeweled color, would pair it with a cozy sweater, jeans or jeggings and nice pair of boots. Definitely would lose the hoodie. Too many tops out there are hoodies and being a mature woman, I feel those are best left to the younger ladies. Merry Christmas to you and your family and to all the wonderful ladies out there God Bless and stay safe,
I like the look, but I would swap out the color of the hoodie. For me, a periwinkle top would be a good choice. I am going toward color combos that previously I wouldn’t have dreamed of!
I like the long cardigan and really like the hoodie, but not together. And I would prefer the cardigan in another color. I cannot even imagine wearing an outfit costing well over $1000 “around the house”. I am trying to dress a little less casually at home, but not quite that dressy! In all, some beautiful clothes, but not at those prices.
I like this look too! I have hesitated to buy anything “cropped” for obvious reasons but I am now thinking that a cropped sweatshirt or lighter sweater with a long sweater topper might be a nice look. I love the color of the long sweater here and could see it with so many tops including my favorite base turtlenecks.
The hoodie appears to be thin, the waistband of the pant can be seen. I would rather have something in a little thicker fabric, so it’s no to the hoodie. The cardigan is okay and I do have several that look similar, not my best look but they are cozy. And a no to the leggings, I am not comfortable in that fitted a leg, I feel like an egg balanced on toothpicks! The contrast of the light body and black legs is to strong for my taste. Having said that it would look wonderful on someone else.
I love the outfit shown just as it is! I hear others say they’d replace the under sweater with a different color as the shade is not right. If anything I might turn a colorful silk knitted scarf near my face but I love this as is! Merry Christmas!
I would only wear the pants if they skimmed my muscular legs. ( Most narrow pants and all leggings emphasize my very short, thick legs. And yes, Jennifer , even the newer cut Marilyn jeans are way too tight in the legs. If I go up a size the hips/ butt are baggy.) I envy your long thin legs!
I have worn a very long sweater like this one and feel elegant, but it’s probably not my most flattering look… I’m under 5’. And the color is as wrong for me as it can get… no, beige would be worse! But a rich dark color, a neutral that flatters a winterish coloring ( gray!) or even pastels with a pale matching column underneath.
Have a wonderful Christmas!
Leftover turkey?? Turkey tetrazzini can’t be beat. You can freeze it in meal size portions and have quick dinners for a long time.
I was just going to write the same thing, Carol! You can’t go wrong with turkey tetrazzini!
Cardigan + hoodie + pants
I like the look (in different colors) but not the price! I could go for a cashmere hoodie but that outfit is approximately $1,000 USD. YIKES! I would definitely seek thrifted alternatives!
I’m with you MP, egad, those prices!!!! I like the look, but would shop for something much more reasonably priced.
And may I suggest turkey enchiladas? It’s a must in our house after Thanksgiving.
I’d like to suggest those who want this outfit to take the $1000 and give it to a food pantry for people who likely won’t need recipes for leftovers.
That outfit was perfect for the casual office I worked in. The boss set the thermostat at 68 degrees in winter. Burr it was always cold in the building in winter in Ohio. Yes, I would wear that!
It’s not for me because I feel I need more color. I would need to add a colorful scarf & lipstick to be able to pull this off…maybe some leopard shoes or boots too.
For the first time, I would wear this as is as an around the house cozy outfit all winter. In cold climates, the hoodie gives warmth and, I feel, visual interest back and front.
This brings up another issue. Should we not, especially these days, spend more, not less, on outfits for regular home wear and less on occasion oriented clothing? They certainly need to stand up to wear and tear and feel good?…..just saying.
I like the styles, but would pick different colors, more jewel tones. For turkey leftovers, turkey lasagna is great, with veggies and cheese sauce. You can use zucchini noodles instead of regular noodles to have fewer carbs!
I would wear the sweater with jeans and boots. I do not like the hoodie /sweater combo, so I would substitute the hoodie for a tighter fitting top. The color combo is not my favorite, but the outfit has potential!
I like this casual look and would wear it, but in different colours for the tops. The colours shown are the the same tones as my skin and hair, and do my no favours. The pieces would work well with my stay at home lifestyle and would mix well with jeans, etc.
Again love the pieces but colors are not for me. A white top and brighter sweater and I’m your girl!
I love a long, open cardigan. Is this honey color as rich as the picture you are featuring or more like the picture on the store’s site. If it is the richer color I would prefer to wear it with a solid column of color beneath. Maybe either black or navy and top with a long necklace or long, soft scarf. It appears to be something that I might throw on to run some errands on a mild winter day. I can see it paired with my slim cut jeans. All that said, there is just no way that I could justify spending that much money on either the cardigan or the hooded top. I would pause and admire this store display and then move on.
Yes! Love the whole look…although I would probably swap the hoodie for a cream cashmere crew neck sweater instead and tie a gorgeous silk scarf loosely around my neck for a bit of pattern.
I love the pants, would definitely wear. The sweaters are too boxy and bulky for my shape and not colors that enhance my skin tone.
I love the outfit you’re wearing.
I never would have thought layering a long cardigan over a hoodie, but this is a great look and I’m going to try it! I think the hoodie would need to be fairly thin rather than bulky to make it work for me. I love how the hoodie ties add another long vertical line, almost like a built-in necklace!

I wouldn’t have thought of that layering either but I’m going to copy it;)
I already do……this combo hides the NOT SO TRIM features of an aged body. Ya know, the boobies hang down to the belt level, and the booty, well, you know the rest. So funny that I find my closet has too many black T’s and sweat pants. Let’s call it the COVID closet……
I’d wear all those pieces, although for this outfit, I’d swap the hoodie out for a top with a pattern, or a long sleeved tee and a plaid or floral scarf. I have a pair of black Lucky Booties that would look great, or some black loafers, or even leopard flats. I’d pair the hoodie with some jeans or cords, and shoes that would jazz up the outfit a bit, maybe the leopard flats or some red tennies.
I love this look and would definetly wear this. I have a really cute pair of black suede ankle boots for cold days or I would wear it with my white Vega sneakers for a more relaxed casual look or my black leather loafers for a slightly dressier look. All these pieces are wardrobe staples that could be paired alone or together.
