Would You Wear It- Peplum Moto Jacket

Would You Wear It- Peplum Moto Jacket

Welcome to the weekend and would you wear it. Each week my friend Pam and I share a mannequin we’ve come across and ask our readers if they would wear what it’s wearing. We do this to better understand your fashion goals and share styling ideas.

Please share why this would or would not fit your coloring, lifestyle and body silhouette.

We’d also love to hear how you would style or change the look to make it work for you.

So tell me, ladies, would you wear this and how would you change to work for you?

Here are some weekend sale updates:

Nordstrom – their fall sale is on with some terrific pieces.

Ann Taylor – 40$ percent off plus an additional 10% off with the code FRIENDS.

Talbots – 25-40% off select fall styles

Loft – 40% off your purchase with the code FESTIVE. This Velvet Puffer Coat is such a gorgeous combination of details. Since it’s not down, it won’t bee too hot for milder winters.

J. Crew – 30% off your purchase with the code FRIENDS and 40% off J.Crew Rewards members (it’s totally free to apply) with the code FAMILY.

Now let’s go see what Pam’s mannequin is wearing here.

Thanks for reading and be sure to wear what makes you feel confident.

Love this outfit! Naturally, trying it on would be a necessary, but yes. This could work on my body type. I might wear this skirt with tall boots, though. Would have to see how it appears. The pop if blue is a nice touch! Actually I have pants in the same pattern as the skirt!

Love it! If I was still at the office each day I would wear tall boots. Now that I’ve retired I’d trade the skirt for slacks, no other changes.

Yes, I’d wear this look. I would try to find that color sweater in a mock turtleneck, or a vee neck, but I could make the one shown work. I’d wear it with tall boots, or kitten heeled pumps.

It’s very stylish. I’m just too short for it. A few inches taller and I would wear it

I really like the jacket. As a matter of fact I have one almost like it! Like Paulette, I would probably wear high boots with the skirt. I love the color of the sweater and definitely would wear it. Overall I like the whole look.

  5. November 9, 2019 / 4:31 am

Love it but with a tunic or longer sweater?

I’m 5’1” so even if petite, I think it is too much for me, stopped tailored skits years ago but still buy summer ones…do like the outfit just not for me.

I would definitely wear this. I love the look.

The combination of black and blue works for me. I like the simplicity and clean lines of this outfit. I would wear this if the jacket looked like or was real leather. If the faux looks really faux, it can look cheap and I would avoid. I like the blue turtleneck, silver chain necklace and the skirt. All pieces look great together and could work with lots of things I own. Add black opaque tights and booties and I’m out the door. Happy Saturday!

I love everything about this outfit. I would probably get more wear out of the jacket and sweater with pants, however.

sharp outfit for a working woman. the skirt wouldnt work for me, but love the color, texture of the sweater paired with the jacket…i would chose slacks or jeans to wear with it.

Love the entire outfit! The jacket could be dressed up as shown or look terrific with jeans! Great find, Jennifer!

Love it! This look would be perfect for my conservative office. Would love to see it styled with boots or booties, or tights and pumps.

Love the jacket, and would definitely wear it. Really like the color of the sweater, but don’t wear turtlenecks. I would look for it in round or vneck, and maybe a tunic. I don’t wear shirts anymore, but pants in this print, or just plain black, would work for me. I can definitely see a woman working in an office wearing this outfit.

I love the look, but I’m too short and busty. Wish I could.

  15. Sue G
    November 9, 2019 / 5:50 am

Love the colors and look however I am short (5’2), broad shoulders and big busted. The Moto jacket with the skirt accentuates these characteristics. Even with pants the Moto jacket is a negative. Same colors but a boyfriend jacket and pants would be better. A wrap or shawl neck blot would create a v neckline reducing the breadth and size of my upper body. Short boots and statement jewelry would work well.

Though I do like all three pieces and have the body type to wear them, I would nix the jacket as feel the motto style is way too young for my age group and would replace it with a different one . (Namely without all the zippers.) As for footwear and/or handbag accessorizing; I feel it offers numerous possibilities. -Brenda-

The color and style are not a look for me.

  18. Sue
    November 9, 2019 / 6:22 am

I wouldn’t have thought of that blue with that color jacket and skirt but I really like it! That’s why I like these posts– a bit of a eye expander!
Pencil skirts are not usually my friend–I would need to try it on, possibly size up and then hem it a bit. I would get more wear from pants, however, since I no longer work in an office. No tucked in top on this short-waisted body! I would wear the sweater out.

    • Cindy
      November 9, 2019 / 7:32 am

Love everything about it! I would only change the style of the blue top to a v-neck or mock turtleneck as I have a short neck.

    November 9, 2019 / 6:23 am

Great outfit – sadly not on this 5′ body 😞. Love the way the jacket seems to pick up the color of the windowpane pattern in the skirt.

  20. November 9, 2019 / 6:32 am

The color, the fit all work for me. I would change the blue turtleneck to a burnt orange or warm white or something that compliments my coloring.

  21. Francie99
    November 9, 2019 / 6:34 am

I love the skirt and I have one just like it. The turtleneck is a nice color but I tend not to like turtlenecks because I find them too restricting and hot. The Moto jacket I would not buy, I feel like moto jackets in general are overdone this season and they seem too trendy.

  22. Eileen
    November 9, 2019 / 6:38 am

I have two jackets like this, one in suede, one in leather, as a pear it works with my curves. I’m not a big fan of the synthetic material used, not breathable. I have a sweater similar. The skirt, no, as a pear the pattern doesn’t work well.

  23. Lea
    November 9, 2019 / 6:39 am

Yes to the brown jacket, but in real leather. That’s my style of skirt. Also the blue turtleneck but not in cashmere/wool. Very nice basics to have in one’s wardrobe. I’m imagining it with so many different coloured tops, a thin stripe would be awesome, print top, the fun I’d have! Oh, and fun with tights. Lol

    November 9, 2019 / 6:46 am

This outfit gets an enthusiastic yes from me! I like the colors, the textures, the versatility. With a few easy variations (like changing shoe styles, adding a scarf, changing the jacket for another topper), this could go anywhere, and the color is flattering and seasonal. This would look good on you, Jennifer!

  25. Mary
    November 9, 2019 / 6:46 am

Love it but since putting on weight it would draw attention to my heavy mid-section. Ten years ago though…I’d have been all over this.

  26. Sue
    November 9, 2019 / 6:50 am

I love this look. Especially like the jacket style and color, it would be great with black. And great with jeans. I also love turtlenecks in the winter for the additional warmth and the pop of color or accent they can add to the heavier coat worn over my outfit.

  27. Susan McClelland
    November 9, 2019 / 6:56 am

I really like this outfit. It’s work-appropriate but the jacket gives it an edge that works with my overall style. Plus, I could wear it with lots of other pieces in my wardrobe. I find turtlenecks too tight around my neck so would trade the sweater for a crew or a cowl.

Motor jackets never appealed to me; I have a long torso and always felt they did not hit me where they should. The zipper on them feels off kilter. I prefer my jackets tailored. The skirt and sweater comb is beautiful. It’s a good look for the office or job but retirement rarely calls for an ensemble like this. It’s still in the 90’s in the California desert so I’m sporting lighter fabrics! Jennifer, your style has been so helpful in helping me transition to a California style.

    A great outfit.!
    Very nicely put together.
I might wear it with pants, I don’t wear skirts very often anymore.
    The jacket is gorgeous.

  34. Diane Hagen
    November 9, 2019 / 8:58 am

I like the pattern of the skirt but pencil skirts are not for me. The turtleneck is striking and I would wear it. Nix to the jacket. The crop style with zippers is too young for me 70+ but would look great on others.

    November 9, 2019 / 8:58 am

I love everything about the outfit! The skirt and sweater are classic and the jacket gives it an edge! I love the sweater color….perfect. I would buy everything and could wear the pieces with other items in my closet. Love the look!

  36. Joanna
    November 9, 2019 / 9:05 am

I like it, a lot! I love pencil skirts (so classic) and the windowpane fabric ups it’s style. The blue turtleneck I would wear. I love turtlenecks in the winter because I’m always cold and the blue brings out my blue eyes. So, that would be coming home with me. The moto jacket adds a little youthful edge and takes it from office to drinks afterwards. Even the style of the chain is trending. Good one, Jennifer!

Perfect for pears! I’d wear the jacket with a different bottom. Pencil skirts aren’t perfect for pears.

  39. Eileen
    November 9, 2019 / 9:44 am

If I were still “going out to business” I would definitely wear it. In retirement I would change the skirt to pants for an upscale casual look. The sweater color is beautiful.

  40. Lucretia Roletta
    November 9, 2019 / 9:58 am

Totally like this outfit with the skirt being longer. I’m into midi with boots. I would have to see the jacket closed and what the back looks like but this mannequin would catch my eye in the store.

Love this outfit. Would wear it with boots or pumps.

  42. November 9, 2019 / 10:09 am

Love everything about this outfit! It’s very chic and modern. Really love the jacket! You could wear the jacket with so many things and a variety of colors. What a great travel piece as it would go over a dress, jeans and a tee or blouse or sweater with pants. The possibilities are endless! Where can I get it??

This is one of the nicest and most practical outfits that have appeared on the mannequins. So, yes I’d wear it if it suited my body type, which it doesn’t.

I love the colour of the jacket, especially paired with the blue, and will be on the lookout for something similar.

  44. November 9, 2019 / 11:05 am

Yes, I would wear this, with the exception of the pencil skirt. I like the skirt, but not for me. I would happily wear the jacket and the blue sweater and I like the necklace. I actually have a blue turtleneck sweater almost the same color and it compliments my blue eyes. It’s not often that I wear a turtle neck, but I have several for those very rare cold days in SoCal. I would wear the top and jacket with black or charcoal trousers with some low boots.

Love it all. The whole outfit works. Of course I would try it on first and adjust accordingly. I really like it when store pair items to make a good looking outfit. It really helps.

  46. Becky
    November 9, 2019 / 11:19 am

The outfit is a no for me because it wouldn’t be flattering to my figure. The jacket is too short for me. I love the color of the sweater, but I have a short neck. A mock neck sweater works better for me. Again, I like the skirt, but it is the wrong style & length for me. I look better in a shorter A-line skirt.

  47. Eve
    November 9, 2019 / 11:20 am

I love the look especially if you add high boots but I couldn’t wear it. I need v necklines and pants for comforts sake. I would love a pair of pants in that fabric and a soft tee shirt would be great under the jacket. Maybe add a scarf . I wouldn’t change a thing about the jacket, Those colors work for me.

Love the outfit. I would wear the ensemble just as shown.

  49. November 9, 2019 / 12:13 pm

I would wear the jacket and sweater, I would love the windowpane plaid in pants since I don’t wear skirts.

  50. Cyndi
    November 9, 2019 / 1:53 pm

I like this look! The colors, the simple lines, the jacket… I would have to try the skirt on (the slim fit and length might or might not work for my body shape – I’m a pear) but it’s a thumbs up from me

  51. Juliet
    November 9, 2019 / 2:10 pm

Absolutely! Love a pencil skirt and Moro jacket! xo

  52. Mary Lou Selders
    November 9, 2019 / 3:57 pm

I used to wear similar outfits when I was still working. I would still wear it with boots but no longer wear turtlenecks and blue is not my color. I would wear it with a blush colored lightweight sweater. The jacket would also be great with slacks or jeans.

    • Susan Gowan
      November 11, 2019 / 4:15 pm

I do like the outfit but except for the top, it is not my style and would not flatter my figure. As a retiree I would swap the skirt with a black , grey or brown pant. I lovemost blues and have a lot of it as it suits me. Thanks for sharing. I always am on the lookout for other colours to go with blue. I hope you continue to enjoy Vancouver where myeldedt son lives and works.

What a fabulous outfit! This display would definitely catch my eye … especially that jacket which is a WOW!!

Of course, I’d have to try all these pieces on, but somehow I’d find a way to make this work. Colors are marvelous!

    This is a big YES!

This brown peplum Moto jacket is quite good looking, but I’d hesitate to wear it with my physique (small waist, wide hips). The peplum would not flatter my hips. I’d feel self conscious. If the jacket cut were flat in the back, I’d snatch it up!
