Priceless Memories Our Accessories Hold

This scarf holds beautiful memories. And they just keep coming. I fished it out of a sale bin at Neiman Marcus over 15 years ago. It was the brightly colored tubes of lipsticks…marching around the edge that caught my eye. They still continue to make me smile when I wear it…but the memories it holds, make me far happier than how it looks.

Last summer I wore it as a do-rag while my daughter and I made wild blackberry jam at our home on Vancouver Island. It was a great way to keep my hair back. She labeled our jam “WanderLust” to celebrate her year of whirlwind traveling.
Those memories become all the sweeter now that we’ve sold the house.
I’m treasuring the few jars I have left and now the scarf holds those memories.

Yesterday my new grandson James, snuggled down for a nap on me, nestled up to my scarf.

It was the first time I had him all to myself for over an hour. While my exhausted son and daughter-in-law tookĀ naps, I lay on the couch with sweet baby James. Cooing softly, rubbing his little back, telling him how special he was.
When he awoke there was a tiny spot of baby drool on my scarf.

I’m feeling pretty smug and content holding this bundle of joy and hope.

I’d never thought about it before now…but that scarf is priceless.
It holds such beautiful memories.

I may never wash it again.

Just kidding. It’s not like Elvis whipped his brow with it!
{Carbon dating myself with that comment :-}

The memories are inside.

  1. It’s amazing how an item can hold such strong memories. I just love babies. You’re lucky I’m not there or I would swipe him from you…and the scarf if it had been any where near Elvis.

My goodness, that baby is gorgeous!
I’ve never connected clothes with occasions, but I think this is such a good idea. I’ve got lots of memories locked up in some of them. What a delightful post!

  4. Love this post! You wear that scarf so well. I love the idea of clothes and memories and haven’t thought about it much until now. Will have to think about which items in my closet would be hard to part with because of sweet associations. What a beautiful baby! Congratulations. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

So precious. I’d be tempted not to wash it too.

Stopped by with my cup of coffee today, the way I like to visit my favorite pages…unrushed.
So I’m off to catch up a little and browse a little more.
    Stalker alert. šŸ˜‰
