Missing my daughter Vanessa during my quarantine this week! We have had such a great extended visit this summer. #silverlinings

Love looking back at our photos from a family visit to Vancouver Island. And yes... she stole my @deandavidson earrings for the day 😂

Our family is small, and we live far apart, but cherish the opportunities to get together. This trip was no exception. I am looking forward to heading back to Vancouver Island when my quarantine ends. More time with my brothers and exploring.

In a year with so many challenges and difficulties, what has been your #silverlining ?

Happy Monday ladies! Today on the blog we are musing about cozy favorites and keeping busy during (another) lockdown!

The smoke is clearing, and we are enjoying some gorgeous views of Vancouver. I love being able to watch the city light up at night, and the ships head out to sea during the day.

I took a much needed small break from Instagram this week which was just exactly what I needed.

One thing that 2020 keeps reminding me is the importance of family. It’s so hard when we are far apart, when our loved ones are sick, when even giving a simple hug is out of reach.

I was so grateful to see my brothers this weekend on Vancouver Island. We haven’t been able to visit in many months, and yet when we do, it’s like no time has passed.

How quickly we fall into old stories, howling with laughter, remembering our parents together. My time with them is such a gift.

This beach reminds me so much of my dad. He loved it, and it’s easy to see why.

He has been gone for over 15 years now and when I am here, on Vancouver Island, on his beach, I feel like he is close by.

He loved wandering along the rocky shores, watching the eagles, the beautiful shades of blue - islands and mountains in the distance.

It’s always a gift to walk along this beach and feel just a little closer to him, for even a few moments.

Do you have a special place like this? Hope you are having a restful Saturday.

Loved going for a long walk this morning in one of my favorite places, along the coast and sheltered by tall trees.

We have some smoky air moving in from the fires south of us. But summer seems to be hanging on, and I am very happy to be with my family on Vancouver Island. I hope you are staying safe and healthy this weekend.
