The Belt You Didn’t Know You Need

I have a nice collection of belts that I seldom wear. The popularity of hip length and tunic tops have made the tucked-in look less popular plus spreading midsections mean most women my age aren’t wearing belts. The problem is I usually need one.

I wear jeans often and that’s when I need a belt. Traditional zip and button closures leave a bump poking out the front of my shirt which screams for some way to flatten it.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life wearing the Skinni Belt

As the day wears on my jeans also loosen up and start sliding south. Hiking my jeans up is annoying but a regular belt causes a huge bulge under tops. Purple Poppy offered to send me this The Skinni Belt on A Well Styled LifeThis little belt solves many problems and hides a multitude of sins. It’s made of ultra-thin stretch webbing that’s invisible under tops. It slips through your belt loops to eliminate button bumps up front and gaps in the back. It also flattens the top of the waistband so it doesn’t poke out.The Skinni Belt on A Well Styled Life

  1. Oh what a wonderful idea and I really need one of these belts.I wore a belt the other day with some jeans and really disliked the “buckle bump”.Your post has solved a problem for me.Thanks.

  2. Thank you for the belt info. All my pants/slacks are too big now. After 3 months of illness everything is a size to large. I have a sweater almost like the one from j.jill and I don’t want the pants to stick out.

  3. I’m ordering this belt TODAY! I’ve been “altering” the waistband of all my jeans for the last few years by inserting a 6″ piece of 1″ wide elastic at the back, inside the waistband and stretching it to 12″ – and sewing it on either end using thread the color of the denim…..this belt is going to be a life-changer – I hope!

  4. oh, so on target, as you usually are, I need this for all your reasons. thanks, need to order. Just put about 15 lovely leather belts I will never wear in recycle bag

  7. I have these belts in two colours. I love them for the same reason you mentioned and also wear them slightly offside so they are as smooth as possible. Terrific solution!

  8. Hi Jennifer, I’ve had this belt on my radar for a while, just haven’t gotten around to ordering it. Glad to hear that it’s is as good as they say it is!

  9. Dear Jennifer,

Just a quick note to tell you how much I love my navy cashmere poncho. You wrote about it last summer. I bought it on sale, and took your advice to take it on airplanes. Now it’s cold in Florida and I looked chic last night while keeping warm!

    1. I’m so glad you love it, Gail. I wear mine often and love the ease of having my arms free and the coziness of the cashmere. They’re really quite perfect!
