The End of the Pity Party

And not one moment too soon.

The only party favors I got from this depressing party were worry, anger and frustration.

I’d rather leave a party with pretty, happy or sparkly gifts. Wouldn’t you?

The End of the Pity Party

Worry gives me wrinkles. Anger tastes bitter and frustration is unsatisfying. Yuck. What a waste of time.

It’s time to ramp up my selfĀ care so I’m immersing myself in Roses! Girly, soft, pretty roses.

I bought some new Evan Healy Rose ClayĀ and have been deep cleaning my complexion. I love how my face looks shrink wrapped when the clay dries and how smooth it feels when I wash it off.

Evan Healy Red Clay

I’ve been enjoying my Siberian Rose Tea more often. Apparently it’s an “acquired” taste. My daughter thought it tasted like swill.

The End of the Pity Party

I’ve been using this entire collection ofĀ Evan Healy Rose line.

The End of the Pity PartyI adore how gentle and thorough it is on my complexion. Here’s a link for a travel kitĀ so you can sample the products.

I’ve been discovering all kinds of fabulous new beauty products that are organic, chemical and cruelty free. I’m loving this newĀ The End of the Pity Party

I slather the matching Body LotionĀ onto my damp skin after the shower to trap the moisture. And at night massage it into my sore muscles which helps relax me. It’s non greasy, absorbs quickly and acts like aromatherapy for me. It makes me feel pampered. Which I need. You can find it at Whole Foods as well.

Thank you so much for all your supportive private emails, messages on Facebook and Twitter about my hip injury. It means the world to me. You ladies are the very best!!! I have an appointment with another specialist next week. He came highly recommended. It’s funny, he looks young enough to barely shave yet! Oy, this getting old is such a blast:)

Thanks for hanging with me.

Style your day beautifully,

Jennifer

  1. Hang in there and, I guess you’re stopping to smell the roses, and I think that’s always a good idea. xoxo.

    1. The roses are awesome. I’m pushing for accountability and results form my next Dr. xo

  2. Hello Jen! I am so happy to see this post. Nothing like a little time for self-care to make the world look a bit more ‘rosey’. These look like lovely products! A clay mask has a way of completely reviving the softness in the skin. Thanks for the reminder. I’ll have to check this out. Thinking hopeful thoughts about your hip and upcoming appointments.
    Happy weekend dear friend!
    xx, Heather

    1. Masks may look funny, but they certainly work wonders on my skin!
      Have a great week!

  3. Getting a second opinion is wise. I hope that there is something that can be done to mend your hip. I play bridge with a woman who is going in for a replacement in December and she is 67…thinking you are a candidate too as you are much younger.
I am over the moon about the entire Andalou Naturals 1000 roses line for sensitive skin…I have completely changed up my skincare regime and LOVE the scent!
Thanks for sharing and fingers crossed that you get some good new soon.

    1. Thanks Leslie!!
Isn’t it the very greatest? The quality is so fantastics and I just love all the company ethics!

  4. Love your positive outlook. Hugs!

  5. Glad to hear you are looking after yourself so well.
But I must ask about those wonderful thick cable tights you are wearing: who sells those? They look so warm!

    1. Those are not my knees. Those are the tips of my new slippers from DSW. They’re by Dearfoam and so cushy!! I’ll have to hunt for tights like that because I agree, they would be awesome!!

I love rose-scented natural products, too. I get Bulgarian rose toner and facial spray from Alteya Organics. Love it. I’ll have to check out your recommendations. And — I did order two dresses from Marie Hell after you showed your dress from her. I love them! So comfortable and flattering. Thanks, Jennifer.

    1. I’m so glad you liked the dresses! I have the off white on order:) I’ll check out the Alteya! I love spraying toner on my face throughout the day!

    1. I’m too young to accept no as an answer.

  7. Such a blast… Hahaha… I’d prefer a blast from the past, the face and body I had even 10 years ago! Any time now, mother will have passed on, and I must return to the living and seize my joy, again. I hope you find relief from you hip pain. xoxox, Brenda

    1. Sending good thoughts to you and your Mom! You’ve been a remarkable daughter.

  8. I have been thinking about your injury and I think sometimes the medical community’s response depends on what part of the country you live in and the level of expected activity of the populace. Half the year I live in a very physically active ski area: many of my friends who are 60+ have replacement knees and hips (sometimes both) and are skiing most days of the week. It is expected that when you have a problem, you get it fixed and get back to your activity! Other times, I live in a retirement area, the level of activity is not as high; and I was told to cut out tennis because my knee has arthritis. I got a series of shots in the knee (I think it was Euflexa (spelling?); that was 3 years ago and I still play rec tennis and I hike up steep hills. You have to be very proactive for yourself.

    1. I completely agree with you Lynn. I refuse to be put out to pasture…and have high hopes this new Dr takes my case seriously. Otherwise I’ll move on again!

  9. I hope the specialist is able to help you.
This is a timely post. I am also looking for products without all the chemicals. I have rosacea/sensitive skin and have tried many brands, but my skin always reacted to the products. I am now using Celtic Complexion products and they have made a very noticeable difference in my skin, my husband even commented. Here is a link to her website http://www.celticcomplexion.com/ It is interesting to read her blog on the website as she is an esthetician, who also worked in the retail cosmetic industry.
Thanks for the body wash recommendation. It sounds wonderful.

    1. Thanks for the link. I’ve never heard of her products. I’ll check them out!!

  10. Jennifer glad you are pampering yourself. I love rose scented lotions too. I’ll have to check this out. I like when you can get the sample kits like this. Take care and I hope we can do lunch soon. xxoo Kim

    1. Samples are a really smart way to try things. I hate returning full sized products if they bother my skin. But I will if I have to.
Lunch week after next? Fingers crossed.

  11. Well I’m glad you’re taking some time to indulge yourself with some home spa remedies.

I’m always wary when the Dr. comes in and looks like Doogie Houser, but sometimes they can be the best. Crossing my fingers that you finally get some of the answers you’ve been looking for.

    bisous

    1. Thanks Suzanne. The older I get the younger the doctors look :)). Hoping this one is on the ball and doesn’t discount older patients.

  12. Jennifer your attitude adjustment (albeit the other mood was very temporary!)is great!
I have another body and bath line I know you will love!! Email me when you have time. I would love to chat with you! [email protected]

  13. Hi Jennifer!

First of all . . . when you said you were 59 I almost fell out of my desk chair at work.

A physician at Stanford once told my great aunt that she was not a candidate for a procedure because she had celebrated “too many birthdays”. She sought another opinion, and lived another 20 years . . . passing a week before her 96th birthday last month. She told him that she wasn’t ready to be tossed out with the waste water. (Way to go Aunt Emma!)

I love how we pray, encourage and look out for one another in blog world.
We are such a beautiful community of heart and soul.

I hope that the young MD is McBrilliant and a good healer with a kind and caring
    bedside manner.

Lastly . . . Thank you for giving me the heads up on my win @ 1010 Park Ave!
(Would you email your address to me, please?)

    1. You and I both hope he’s Dr McBrilliant! I totally agree with you about our blog community. It’s filled with the most caring, intelligent and loving women!! You’re tops in my book doll!
Yes, way to go Aunt Emma!
I feel every second of my 59 years these days but realize I’m blessed to have gotten this far. I’m shooting for another 30!

  14. I love the scent of anything roses. And it is a great way to come out of a funk with self care. I know how hard our children can weigh on us…we will always be mothers and always bear their pains. It is good that you are ready to return and seek your joy.

    1. I do too! I used to think it smelled old fashioned. Now I just embrace its sweetness:). The stress of being a mother never ends!
