The Power of a Cashmere Wrap

This camper trip through Iceland makes our trailer at home seem like staying at the Ritz.

The amount of luggage 4 adults need, far surpasses the storage space of this camper. That means things are shuffled around constantly but the most important ones are kept close at hand.

I’m surprised how useful my black cashmere wrap has been. I almost didn’t pack it, thinking it too fragile for a camping trip. Not so.

I used it as a blanket wrap, over my jacket when we visited the Seljalandsfoss water falls.

We needed the 4 wheel drive to the Dyrholaey Lighthouse.

The bluff overlooked miles of black sand beaches and massive rock formations.

The wind felt strong enough to blow you off the cliff. My cashmere wrap was perfect, held snuggly over my head and shoulders. It was a Daphne du Maurier moment for sure.

Looking straight south over the Atlantic Ocean.

I wore it to walk into the double rainbow at the base of Skogafoss Falla. It dried quickly just by waving it in the breeze for a few minutes.

I wear it as a lap blanket when the truck window is open.
I’ve rolled it into a tight pad and used it as my booster seat to see help me see over the steering wheel when I drive. I’m not that short, but this truck is hard to see out of.

Most days I wear it around my neck for a little extra warmth.

It offered invaluable warmth when we visited Glacier Bay.

After watching them break up and flow towards to ocean, we parked at the beach to get out and explore them closer.

I found it exciting to hold a piece of melting glacier in my hand at the ocean. Yes, it’s a sign of planetary changes, but thrilling to me anyway.

Today we’re hunting out more hot springs.

Wonderful photos – and they bring back a lot of great memories. Forgot to ask – are you going to stay in a hotel back in Reykjavik for a few days before you fly home? It really is a lovely, small city.
