Things I Order From Amazon All the Time

It occurs to me that I order more things from Amazon than almost any other retailer. I admit that their speedy delivery is a huge part of it, but they also carry a lot of beauty products, personal care products, vitamins, and home care products, making it a one-stop shop for so many things I use. I thought it’d be interesting to share a list of the things I order from Amazon over and over and over. You’ve probably heard me talk about these products before because once I find something I love, it’s safe to say that I’ll be a devoted user for years. Outside of the speedy shipping, Amazon makes reordering simple with the subscription feature on many of my favorites, and they also carry some of the more obscure products I love.

Most of my sunscreens come from there, as do many of my skincare and seasonal things to spruce up my home. Here are a few other posts you may find interesting:

Things I Order from Amazon All the Time

Health Items

Om Mushroom Hot Chocolate Blend

We watched Fantastic Fungi on Netflix and loved it! I’ve always known mushrooms have health benefits, but after watching the show, I knew I wanted to find other ways to add them to my diet. Enter this indulgent hot chocolate blend with four kinds of mushrooms and ashwagandha. Itā€™s delicious, and we use it as an after-dinner treat instead of dessert. I realize some people might find this strange, but I know our immune system is of vital importance, and I know a strong one is critical to keep us healthy.

Garden of Life Raw Organic Protein

Several years ago, I purchased this blender and began having a protein shake with this vegan protein powder, raw spinach or kale, frozen berries, and 1/2 a banana, with unsweetened oat milk, for breakfast every day. I drink my shake late in the morning, so I donā€™t get hungry until late afternoon. Since I don’t eat meat, I need one with plant protein that doesn’t taste like chalk, and this one is yummy. I can’t count how many jars of this I’ve gone through, but it’s a lot!

Valerian Capsules

Getting enough sleep is so important for our health, and the older I get, the more elusive it seems to become. When I skimp on sleep, the circles under my eyes are darker, and my complexion looks sallow. No amount of makeup can cover the lack of sleep at my age, plus it’s just unhealthy. Valerian is a natural aid for sleep that my doctor approves of, so I take two capsules each night, and it helps me not only fall asleep but stay asleep. I have this on constant replenishment. My husband prefers this Valerian liquid, but I can’t stomach its strong smell and taste. Even my capsules have an odor, but they go down the hatch quickly.

Personal Care Products

Oust Demodex Eyelid Cleanser

I suffer from ocular rosacea flare-ups, which leave me with dry and painful eyes. I talk a lot about at-home treatments for dry eyes here, but I also love using these gentle eyelid cleansing wipes. I’m so grateful a reader recommended these because they don’t sting like the Cliradex wipes I used to use and do just as good a job of cleaning the eyes.

Rogaine Extra Strength Hair Regrowth Treatment

You’ve heard me talk again and again about my thinning hair and how my physician suggested I try 5% Rogaine for men to slow the thinning and encourage regrowth. Itā€™s something that I truly canā€™t live without. If you’re suffering from thinning hair, you may enjoy this post to see some solutions I’ve come up with.

Iā€™ve found the very best pricing on Amazon and order 3 bottles every 5-6 months. If you stop using Rogaine, the new hair will eventually thin out, so I continue to use it daily. You can see how I apply it to my hair in this blog post.

MDSolarSciences Solar Stick

I had melanoma on my leg around 20 years ago, which has made me hyper-vigilant about wearing sunscreen. I now own several of these solar sticks. One lives in my handbag, one lives in my car, and one lives in my husband’s car. Windshields are usually coated with a filter to block some rays, but seeing the sun beating onto the back of my hands as I hold the steering wheel feels like Iā€™m damaging my skin, so I reach for this stick often. Itā€™s not sticky or white going on, so I use it a lot.

Beauty Finds

Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm

Iā€™ve been a devoted user of the Farmacy Clean Green Cleansing Balm for several years, so it’s definitely on the list of things I reorder from Amazon all the time. It leaves my face super clean and not feeling stripped. I remove my makeup with micellar water first, then follow up with the Green Clean. I haven’t settled on an all-time favorite micellar water, but I’ve just gone back to this one, which works quickly and is cruelty-free.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo

This Living Proof dry shampoo goes on right after I dry my hair. I use it on clean hair because it adds volume and helps my hair look thicker. It’s also terrific for second and third-day hair when I really do need it to help freshen my hair.

Fermented Complex 94 Boosting Essence

Purito is a Korean skincare brand that makes eco-friendly formulations that are 100% cruelty-free, vegan, hypoallergenic, and incredibly affordable. I apply it to my face in the morning and evening, right after washing it. It has changed my skin in an amazing way! It’s become a never miss in my morning and evening routine, and it’s so affordable! I even added some to a small travel-sized bottle so I can bring it with me on my travels.

Schick Hydro Silk Touch-Up Disposable Razors

At-home dermaplaning has never been easier with these handy razors. They remove peach fuzz on your face and exfoliate your skin. When I donā€™t have time to use my Epilator, I will use these for a quick clean-up, and noā€¦my facial hair does not grow back stubbly or thicker. I also find this helps with the flakes I get when I get zealous with my Retin-A.

Have you tried any of these products? What are some products you regularly order from Amazon? I’m sure they differ from mine.

  1. Jennifer, your “regular buys” are a bookful of information that I didn’t even know I needed. Thank you so much: I’m very anxious to try the Mushroom drink. I’m a very naughty night snacker, and I need to rein that in. Again, so many thanks for your personal choices to enhance our health as well as our looks!
And, Yes, Ladies, Amazon does have fakes, and I find them in high end products like Le Mer.. Amazon will make it right; but it’s time consuming. That’s why Jennifer’s recommends are essential for me!

    1. I suppose itā€™s a bit of a peek into my lifestyle. Iā€™ve gotten some bad items over the years but Amazon is very very good about taking things back.

  2. Good article! I put the essence and the sunscreen on my list. Iā€™ve had several skin cancers – all squamous – over the past 15 years or so due to stupidity up until the first skin cancer was found. Iā€™m always on the lookout for a good sunscreen

  3. Christine says:

Jennifer, I almost ordered that epilator previously after you mentioned it, but in the end hesitated based on some neutral reviews. Silly question I guess if you use it, but do you really find it effective?

  4. Hi Jennifer,
I use Hairmax for my thinning hair and have been very pleased with it. It is sold by QVC as by other retailers. It is on QVC this evening. I hope this helps.

    1. How long have you been using it? I was worried I wouldn’t stick with it.

  5. Joann Czarny says:

Jennifer, the Fermented Essence is amazing! I purchased it on your recommendation and it really works.
I am intrigued by the mushroom hot chocolate and wonder how the taste is.

  6. I truly love Amazon.
Order gifts, beauty products and make up along with my Sanbucol Black Elderberry Syrup which boost your immune system.
Prescribed by my Doctor after a virus.
Always shipped in record time and with accuracy.

    1. I’ll order that Elderberry Syrup today! Sometimes, Amazon has been known to deliver a product within 12 hours which is amazing.

  7. I’m curious about your removal of peach fuzz. Why? If there isn’t an obvious whisker popping out… I just don’t understand this microplaning fad.

    1. It helps remove some dead skin on top, so my lotions soak in better. I also have a lot of fuzz, as in lots.

  8. Thank you for an informative post, Jennifer! I may buy that chocolate protein powder- I struggle to get enough protein in my diet. My repeat Amazon buys are Taylors of Harrogate Decaffeinated Breakfast Tea, which I drink in the evening when caffeine would be a sleeping no-no, Systane I-Caps for my eyes, Kiss My Face Cucumber Green Tea deodorant with no aluminum, and Citracal Petites calcium caplets that are easily swallowed. Amazon shipping is crazy fast on most things unless they are from an outside seller. I really appreciate their service and their efficiency.

  9. Elizabeth says:

So many great suggestions! Thanks for sharing your great finds! Iā€™ve added three to my Amazon shopping list. Just wondering why your doctor recommended menā€™s Rogaine when it warns ā€œnot for womenā€ on the label?

    1. Because the men’s is 5%. They make a women’s foam at 5% but it makes a gooey mess of my hair. She said there’s no reason a woman should not use the men’s and get the benefit of full strength.

  10. The eye wipes sound good for my dry eye. My doctor told me to use Johnson and Johnson no tears baby shampoo on my lids. Donā€™t laugh everyone but I wash my face with it. I have combination skin with very oily T-zone. I do use the razors on my peach fuzz and dead skin about once a week. I buy all of my hair care products and Dove Sensitive Skin Body Wash from Amazon. Yes, we have Prime and so worth it. I also buy my Sketchers and leggings. My leggings I size up one size from Zenana and Spaulding. I get the 95% cotton for comfort. I still use Lā€™Oreal Day, Night and with sunscreen products. They work as well for me on a retirement budget as Clinique used to do for me. I have pale Swedish skin from my mother and had blonde hair before it turned white and silver stripes. I use the Curly Girl Method for Wavies for my hair and spend the most on my hair products from Curlsmith, EvolVh and Jessiecurl. I want to try your vegan chocolate drink. It sounds wonderful! Thank you for sharing these personal products with us.

    1. I think you can buy them in single serving packets as well so you can take them with you when you travel.

  11. Thank you for all of the great suggestions and I’m ordering the hot chocolate, the valerian and the dry shampoo! I was wondering, do you use a spray toner that you would recommend? I use the Thayers facial mist right now.

    1. The fermented essence is my toner.

  12. Silly question, do you use the “mens” formula of Rogaine? I have been using the women’s formula.

    1. Yes, the men’s is 5% and my hair follicles don’t care šŸ™‚

  13. I am hesitant to order a ā€œnew to meā€ beauty product from Amazon because it is not returnable if opened or used. Iā€™ve been burned. Even received a package where the product leaked and too bad for you.

    1. Oh Jennifer, what a helpful post! Thank you! Iā€™m ordering the chocolate drink, the eye wipes, and the sunscreen stick. My husband has rosacea and told me to had his thanks for all of your rosacea-related product recommendations, they have really helped him.

      1. I’m so happy they’ve helped him!!

    2. I have never had that problem. It differs by brand but I’d call Amazon and see what they can do for you.

  14. So much valuable information. I have no one in my life who appreciates the benefits of products like these, so I thank you for taking time to share them and the reasons behind using each one. I can personally vouch for the effectiveness of valerian to promote gentle sleep with NO morning after side effects. During perimenopause I was wracked with insomnia and valerian was a lifesaver for me. Today, I sleep fine without aids, thank goodness! Again, many thanks for this post.

  15. I really like valerian root for sleep and relaxation. I think I would like to try the chocolate protein drink. I have not liked the vanilla plant ones. I will order the shavers, looks easy to use and carry.

I have an oily t zone on my face, yet my skin gets irritated easily. I am looking for a cleanser that cleans pores well, but does not irritate or strip skin. My skin gets pink/red after cleansing.

I have not had trouble with fake products. Amazon makes it easy to return if you don’t like something. There is a drop off store nearby that make it so easy.

    1. Agreed. I take mine to the local Whole Foods for free returns. Theyā€™ll package it up too. You may like the Clean Green. Itā€™s gentle but effective. If your pores get clogged, a salicylic acid tonic may help like the one Paulaā€™s Choice makes.

    2. Sue L, our skin issues sound very similar! I have used this DHC cleanser, OLIVE CONCENTRATED CLEANSING OIL in a green bottle (there are other DHC oil cleansers, but THIS one is my choice) for years and am VERY happy with it helping my skin texture and pores. I get it from Amazon. Hope you love it as well.

  16. Carolyn K says:

Wow! Great post. I ordered the mushroom hot chocolate. Iā€™ve tried incorporating more mushrooms in my diet for the health benefits but they spoil quickly. This is a great solution. Do you find it helps with sleep? This was mentioned in the comments. Do you find Valerian works better than melatonin for sleep?

    1. Iā€™m not sure about valerian vs melatonin. Iā€™ll often take a melatonin too but my dr prefers the valerian. Not sure why.

    2. I agree mushrooms spoil quickly, so I cook them, then freeze so they’re available to use in soups, casseroles, quiches, etc. Not sure if cooking destroys their nutritional value — hopefully not.

  17. Jennifer your recommendations are great! I am looking for a protein powder that I can add to my diet. I need to boost my protein since I’m trying to lose weight using macros and find I lack enough protein each day. I use Amazon’s subscription service for my probotics, so convenient I don’t have to think about remembering to order them. Thank you!

    1. The subscription is really helpful. I think many of us need more protein. My husband likes the vanilla but Iā€™m a chocolate person.

  18. I donā€™t know if you know about TXTanyablogā€™s monthly Amazon shopping link up but I thought Iā€™d mention it. I definitely go there monthly to see what others have found on Amazon.

    1. Iā€™m not sure what youā€™re referring to. What is it?

  19. I order several of these very things. Valerian, Green Clean and razors. I really want to try the dry eye wipes. I also order Systane from Amazon. I don’t do too well with their clothes. They don’t have many petites. Thanks for the tips.

  20. I loved Fantastic Fungi too and have been drinking Four Sigmatic mushroom teas (Elixirs) throughout the pandemic. I volunteer in a Non profit and am in public space but so far have avoided Covid. I think the Chaga and other mushroom elixirs have ā€˜kept my backā€™!

    1. Thatā€™s amazing! Where do you get your mushroom tea? I have to try some.

  21. Thanks for the great list of products. Ordered the fermented complex and the shavers. Also thinking about the mushroom hot chocolate. About the hot chocolate….do you know if it has very much caffeine? Some reviews talk about all the caffeine. There are other flavors listed like morning blend and latte and perhaps they are referring to those. Chocolate does have some caffeine. Another great post with new products!

    1. I donā€™t find it keeps me up so if thereā€™s caffeine I donā€™t notice it. Youā€™ll love the fermented complex. Itā€™s so hydrating.

  22. This is a very interesting post. Thanks for things like this.

  23. I took your advice and purchased the Fermented Complex 94 Boosting Essence from Amazon when I saw your first recommendation. This product is easy to apply which I do immediately after my bath or shower and really does a good job for me. I think it makes a huge difference in my daily facial hydration goal. Thank you!

    1. Yes! Iā€™m glad youā€™re finding that too. Itā€™s almost enough moisture many days and yet itā€™s liquid. Amazing stuff.

  24. Interesting, Iā€™ll be honest I never order anything that is ingested or applied to the skin from Amazon because Iā€™m terrified of getting a fake. Have you ever had that happen? How did they handle it?

    1. Iā€™ve had a few things arrive that appeared iffy but I simply return and thereā€™s never a charge or issue. Iā€™ve got Prime which is worth every penny.

    2. I’ve never had a problem with fakes from Amazon. I do check the reviews, good and bad, and make sure there are free returns. I order vitamins, protein powder, collagen powder, Shampoo, Neutrogena moisturizers and other stuff.
