Traveling in Style for Midlife Women: Bamc2016

Boarding my flight to Las Vegas yesterday, I was focused on why I was off to Sin City in the first place. While blogging conferences are fun, they’re also a time to re-think blogging, and the understanding of why I do it. I just wanted to meditate during this flight, maybe catch a few winks, but the ladies next to me were so chatty, that option wasn’t possible. I asked why they were off to Las Vegas. Turns out they were heading for their national sales conference for Arbonne. They explained all about their products as I perused their catalog, only to stop at this picture…

That dress is too long for this petite woman…look at what it does to her legs. They seemed amazed and agreed…you’re right! Suddenly, I felt confirmed… that’s what I do best! That’s what I need to always bring to this blog. Ways to help women look their very best…not in a catalog…but in their lives. I must share my knowledge in a way that’s easy to understand and helpful to others.

Pam and I met up at the airport. One of us travels lighter than the other :).

Traveing in Style For Midlife Women

I traveled in my favorite Babette Zig Zag Dress with this exquisite Platinum Yoshi Tote, all from Artful Home.

We met in baggage claim so she could collect her tiny suitcase.

After checking in, Pam and I grabbed some lunch and wandered the grounds. Here’s a sneak peek into the lengths bloggers will go to capture just the right image for you:)

The lengths blogger will go to get just the right image for you.

sorry Pam, I couldn’t resist

For the cocktail reception I chose this comfy Cynthia Ashby Dress from Artful Home. It’s a great dress that can be dressed way up or down.

I knew it was a very casual event, and worried briefly about appearing over dressed…but remembered I always prefer to be over dressed for any event than underdressed. As it happens I felt amazing and looked perfectly like me! I was also representing Artful Home and wanted to represent them well!

Style Tip- always dress for the impression you want to give. You must feel great in what you’re wearing to feel confident.

This gorgeous Shibori Shawl  is the exact amount of contrast to soften the black against my complexion. I’ll share more of this gorgeous shawl in a later post.

I am so appreciative of this of this opportunity to be sponsored by Artful Home to attend BAM this year. I love this company who are passionate about artist-made and artist-designed work for your home and wardrobe. I love knowing that each piece has been carefully crafted or designed by a talented artist.

I love this soft ruffled hem. It adds a feminine touch without looking too girly for me. The fishnets tough it back up a bit.

For you petite ladies reading, I’m wearing this scarf long against my dress to help me appear taller. It is a leaner, longer look.

Style Tip- Wearing longer scarves help the shorter women appear taller.

This touch of Leopard in my handbag is just enough pattern and texture to finish off my look.

More on this great conference later!

Hi Jennifer, I love this dress. I just got through reading about the length, as I am 5’10” tall. Now it says the model is that height. My question is, is this dress very long on you as you have said you are a out 5’4″ tall?

The reason I’m asking is to find out if the dress lengths given are accurate, because so many dresses are too short for me!

    Thanks for your help.

Hi Carol! The models online are wearing the exact size and length that comes from the designer. This dress isn’t too long on me because it has a high-low hem. It will be the length on you, as is on the website. I hope this helps you.

Too funny about the difference in your packing styles. I’m a very light packer. Years of practice and a back I don’t want to aggravate. You always look so adorable with a joyful countenance to match the ensembles. Have fun!
